I have a question...then how do you determine the next terms of the sequence using that formula? I hope i asked that correctly.

I can do this much in my head without any pen and paper, I can look at that (and other similar sequences) and clearly see how any term utilizes the value of its previous term to calculate its own value (number). However, what I have been attempting to learn is how to determine a formula, but after searching for some time, my current aim is first to discover if it is possible to write a formula for such a sequence, and if so, then how do we determine a formula that will provide the value (or number) of any nth term in the sequence, including the first term. Anybody have an answer for me, or at least a nudge in the appropriate direction where I would be more likely to discover the answer on my own???
