My man Gary the guru. I'm telling you bro you have the gift and you are officially deemed the comic whisperer. Great finds sir. That Green Lantern literally had your name all over it.
Gary , love you bro You are not afraid to share the game and your knowledge People don’t want to talk about what they pay and you got to guess the game. But you been gaming us up Give a man a fish bro One love
Gary, I'm happy you found that 1st printing of Bone # 1, but for me, the stars of your haul were the Golden Age copies of Flash Comics and Green Lantern! I don't normally agree with cleaning and pressing comic books, but for Golden Age books, I think it's the correct thing to do, especially when they are going to be graded and slabbed. It will be very interesting to see what grades they get from CGC.
I'm dying at the bit with the name scribbled. I usually hate finding those in old comics, but the coincidence of the name being "Gary" as well was so funny
I am pretty new to comics, collecting for the past 2 years. Since I have more of a photographic memory I find watching videos helps me to train myself on key titles and covers when bin diving. "Keep it comics"
I would happily have watched you go through every single one of those boxes. Such fun. Lots of Vertigo and Image stuff from the early 90s when I used to go to the comic shop twice a week for new releases. I started collected Bone around issue 7 so I have 1 through 6 in much later printings. I also have all the trades so my kids have read them all. Fabulous series that everyone should discover. Good stuff, thanks.
I remember when Bone #1 came out but did not realize it was such a rare book. Every time i watch your vids i learn something about collecting that ive found useful. And i know the feeling about letting go of books and regretting it later Another Good Video Gary.
OMG that must've been an amazing feeling opening that lid and seeing that Golden Age goodness staring back at you. Then a friggin' Bone 1 to top it off. Great finds, Gary!
Oh man, the only Bone comic I have or ever see in a LCS is that Christmas special. Congrats, great haul... those golden age flash & lantern books are siiick! Lol
I was trying to guess what book got you so excited and all the books you named were so near and dear to me. First instinct was to say Bone but I thought, "I dont think he's a cartoony style book like that". You proved me wrong. I shouldn't have doubted as you always have a soft spot for Usagi books (I've shared those videos in an Usagi Facebook group). Fantastic find!
Great find! This is the kind of collection I would love to come across. Mad jealous about your Evil Ernie collection, it's on the top of my wish list. I have all the chaos books but that original run is so hard to find.
Love those golden age books!! I'm a big Flash guy so loved seeing those for sure👌 grew up reading Bone as well so when you pulled that out it took me straight back to my childhood😂👌 great video, Gary
Bought Bone #1 1st print off the rack in Washington Twp, NJ during my residency. Has been one of my all time favorite runs ever since. Jeff Smith is a Master comic book creator!!
Something about the DC books that them apart from Marvel was the writing, it felt it had depth to it. Man I wish I would picked up Sandman, Evil Ernie, Lady Death and Dawn back in the day.
Nice to find something of monetary value as well as personal value hidden among all those 90s weeds. Kudos on those Golden Age titles and that 1st ish of BONE.
Gary you missed the question #17 the first appearance in continuity of rorschach. You could get about $25 for that. Great video and congrats on those golden age and bone 1!
#10, 21, 22 are all heating up with show spec. All may be worth a 9.8 pre screen submit (definitely 1, 4, and 8) to cgc. My recommendation, from a Sandman collector. There are a few error books worth looking for, too.
Bone 1 sold on Roger's favorite platform for $1300 on July 31...you have the golden touch, my friend, for finding great collections. Just curious...you paid $1k, what was the asking price?
@@VeryGaryComics You probably already saw the listings asking $1895 for Bone 1. I lost count on the spine ticks and other imperfections... and $350 for Bone 3.
I seriously had no idea that Bone #1 1st print was going for that much. I have a few copies of that book in first printing that I had bought from Jeff Smith himself a few decades ago when he was at some local shows in Columbus, Ohio. I even have the Thorn book that reprints his comic strips from the Ohio State University Lantern. I will have to dig those out and send them on to CGC. That was a great series.
If you’re ever in south west Connecticut, you should come look at my comics. Not to buy, but just to check them out. It would be fun to have someone who is into comics hangout look at them
Too Much Coffee Man! I have been following that creator on Insta & even got one of their pieces of art (with permission) put on a T-shirt recently :-) Really appreciate this video… Solidifies that I am doing things the "right" way
Sweet Bone. I think my number #1 is a 3rd print. My first first printing is Bone 3. Are they still in talks for a Bone movie? Sweet Hepcats too. Loved that book.
Best comic I ever found "in the wild" was Miracleman #15 (Eclipse). It was three comics for a euro at a stall in Dublin's Temple Bar area, maybe five years ago. I wouldn't mind but I nearly didn't pick it up -- I already owned the comic (the whole Miracleman run, in fact) and it just seemed surplus to requirements. It's in a box now in the closet LOL.
Hey Gary, I notice you're flipping through a number of mid 90's DC books without checking the UPC box. There are some with the DC Universe logo, which is a slightly scarce variant, and some of those can go for several hundred bucks.
