Check your hook. Appears they aren't as sharp as they should be. Love those little creeks. They hold fish that no one else would bother fishing for.

I bought this rod because you mentioned it in another video and said you would recommend it. I have had it a few months and 2 weeks ago it landed about 20 fish in a few hours. Good for where I’m located. I fished the Pecos river by the Cowles ponds here in NM. Thank you.

When you're fishing smaller streams like this, are you seeing the fish and targeting them, or blind casting into these pools and riffles. Thanks for the video!

Great video. Do u think the more than normal swing and misses are due to a dull hook? Keep them coming. I have a Dradontail problem...due to your videos, I have the foxfire, mutant, kadia, shadow fire...lol
@TenkaraAddict
@TenkaraAddict Год назад
Nah, I don't think it's due to a hook. I think it just happens sometimes. Nice! I enjoy all of my Dragontail rods 👍

I have that rod and I liked it. Unfortunately it broke on the second section down and it appears the only rod that Maxcatch don't supply spare sections for. I suppose it's not a disaster as the rod is so cheap. I tried a repair which I haven't tested yet. It was ideal for fishing weighted nymphs on my local stream.
@TenkaraAddict
@TenkaraAddict Год назад
Sorry to hear that! It's a good little rod for the price, for sure.

Good light day, transparent, I could see the fish taking the fly. I wonder if fish, like birds, can alert others when one is spooked? Do some species fight harder than others?
@TenkaraAddict
@TenkaraAddict Год назад
One spooked fish will definitely spook others. People say that rainbows fight harder than cutthroats, but 🤷‍♂

I have the same rod and I enjoyed hearing your opinion on it. It kind of validated my thoughts on it. I like the shorter and longer sections better. The middle length just feels awkward to me. It is a good budget rod though. Great video as always.

Those trout streams y’all have look amazing. We really don’t have that in north Georgia but spend most of my fishing time ultralight creek fishing. I have been considering trying out fly or tenkara fishing for bass and bluegill here. I bet it would be a blast.

I've noticed it a few of some of your older videos. Thanks so much. And if you ever find yourself up in North East Pennsylvania, get in touch. I've got a couple great spots for wild bookies

When I lose that many in a row I always check my hook tip. Many times I've found that the hook tip is slightly bent after contacting a rock. Just saying.
@TenkaraAddict
@TenkaraAddict Год назад
I do check occasionally to see if it's still there and in decent shape.
@brianmyers157
@brianmyers157 Год назад
How often do you check your hook point ?
@TenkaraAddict
@TenkaraAddict Год назад
Other than checking to see if it's still there, rarely. I go through flies often enough that I don't think it's a hook sharpness issue.
@robertkemp622
@robertkemp622 Год назад

A bit surprised at how short your tippet was in this video.
@TenkaraAddict
@TenkaraAddict Год назад
I'd like it to be around 2.5 feet at least for this creek, but I'm usually too lazy to be bothered to retie and I'll just wait until I lose my tippet to make it longer.
@Time-Trvlr
@Time-Trvlr Год назад
Maybe the large loose body of your fly is causing a shallow hook into their flesh, and tearing out.

Do0 you carry a hook sharpener with you? With barbless hooks which I use and which all of yours are I keep my hook as sharp as possible... Love your channels and all the yarn I have purchased. Thank you very very much. Hope Cassie is enjoying teaching , I think that is what you mentioned she is doing now. Any thoughts for Boseman Montana still? Thanks
@TenkaraAddict
@TenkaraAddict Год назад
I have one but don't carry it. I figure that I go through flies often enough that I don't really need to sharpen them, but maybe I'm wrong. Cassie is finishing up her last semester before student teaching. The plan has been to move to Butte, but that's on hold for now...
