The Common Redpoll irruption has created a lot of excitement this year for bird lovers. Ryan went in search of the ultimate experience with this species as he tried to track them down in the southeastern part of the state.

It’s obvious you had such a good time at your friends backyard watching the redpolls !

We don't see these beauties down here in Texas. They are fun to watch and I really enjoyed the video Ryan! I have mostly Carolina Chickadees, Cardinals and several different sparrows. I do have a Red-bellied Woodpecker and his mate, living somewhere on my property . I haven't found out if they have a nest yet, probably need to give them several more weeks. They come to my feeders and they munch on the suet I have out and peanuts I lay out on a stump for them. Look forward to your next video!!🌟🤠

Sounds like an awesome yard! No Redpolls here in Louisiana either :( -Derek

I've seen a couple of female Common Repolls at my feeders, a billion pine siskins, and other birds. I hiked at Emma Carlin for 2.5 hours on Feb. 14, and did not see or hear one bird. The crunch of crampons on ice might have scared birds away.

Nice! Emma Carlin can be kind of hit or miss but that area has a lot of cool places to explore!

I’m jealous of the huge redpoll flock! We’ve been getting small flocks here and there and a couple at our feeders if you watch long enough. However we’ve had up to over 150 Pine Siskins daily for the last week or so. They are eating us out of house and home!
@BadgerlandBirding
@BadgerlandBirding 2 года назад
Wow! That's a lot of Siskins! Maybe we'll get a Redpoll in Louisiana someday. Somebody did have one Pine Siskin for about a day, haha. -Derek

Beautiful finches! I wish we had them in Western WA! That red spot on the head, the nice streaking on the feathers - they're wonderful!

You list Blue Jays as an irruptive species. I have not thought of them as such before. We seem to have them commonly every year here in southwest Wisconsin.
@BadgerlandBirding
@BadgerlandBirding 2 года назад
Yup! They’re pretty common in WI year round by the do have periodic irruptions. loudounwildlife.org/2007/01/irruptions-a-very-special-kind-of-migration/

Today we saw 15 or so redpolls at our feeders. Some goldfinch were also there. Starting to see the males black caps.

Saw my first (6) ever Common Redpolls yesterday in SE MN, feeding along a county road. Still hoping for Red-breasted Nuthatch and Pine Siskin, which I've had at my feeders once in the past, but not this winter (yet).

I've found that they are excessively hard to get pictures of when they are foraging in the trees because they just won't stay in the same spot long enough. That's great that you got some really good looks at them.
@BadgerlandBirding
@BadgerlandBirding 2 года назад
Sometimes they stay put and feed but it's normally not for too long! And thanks! :)

Amazing! Another Redpoll video! I wish so badly i could be there they truly are cute and amazing little birds. Again I've seen a few in Vermont but none are making it into New York. Its amazing to see all the Hoary, Flammea, and Common Redpolls! For me the second i laid eyes on these little birds their cute calls and they way the moved just made me love them! Seems like you made this video for me, great video as always. Nice job with the merch too! Do you by any chance have a link to it?

What is the rarest bird you have seen? The rarest I have seen is probably California condor.
@pauraque
@pauraque 2 года назад
Rarest as in rare for the area, or smallest population? I've seen California Condors and Maui Alauahio's. But also the only pacific record of a Northern Gannet.

That's cool you've seen a Condor! Mine (Derek) is the Critically Endangered Grenada Dove: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IqEQkzqRugc.html
