Hi Dan, just to inform you on some stigmas that surround bats and rabies. You truly only need to worry if the bat is ok the ground during the day. A harmless bat like these who are hiding away during the day time, especially hanging, are usually very healthy and pose no rabies threat. I worked at a bat sanctuary for 2 years and I am planning on buying land to house many bats to make sure they have the long term care they need, and to monitor populations for my area to contain spread of any disease and keep their population numbers high as they're great for pest control, especially mosquitos. The bat in the blue Chip mine looked comfy cozy and healthy 🤗
@P Pipe Rabies CANNOT be spread via the air, unless somehow saliva is thrown from the infected directly into an open cut on the recipient or if the saliva gets into the mucous membranes i.e. eyes, nose mouth. Also, the blood, urine and feces of an infected animal is not considered a means of transmission.
I like looking at rocks through my Uncles microscope. Especially the amber so I can see all the specimens in them. He is the one who got me into rock hounding.
You mentioned before about "Arsenopyrite" "Arsenopyrite is the chief ore of arsenic, and the primary ores for both copper and silver include arsenic-bearing minerals." Is there an inhalation health hazard when vacuuming or blowing the dust around?
I saw instantly when you pulled your chipper out that the bit was 'a bit' too short for deep crevasse work. ~( ,m,)~ Even my longest bit [ 22" ] is not really very long for sniping crevasses, although I have to assume your box would maybe not hold really long bits.
if it was my mine irst thing hae a look at and larger rocks then vac up every lose bit 1 to cut down on dust and 2 check it fore lose gold 3 look at the floor wet see if you want to dig deeper
People don't realize that if they went out just about any place, with a little bit of knowledge, they would see that their is a lot of places where you can find microscopic gold, silver, and the platinum group. Most people are only looking for a get rich quick and don't do their homework.
I'm sure you could find a Veteran to employ/ work with part time to patrol/check up on the claims to better protect your rights and assets, thieves are some of the lowest of the low. Great videos Dan.
@@SadDusti128 Yep, plenty of mining ops have security, i'm sure Dan could work out a deal to get some added eyes and protection on his claims (cameras only do so much). I'd buy your bro a beer were I ever in the area (former Army grunt here), i'm sure he'd enjoy that kind of gig yeah.
Sounds like a good money pit. Unless you're able to mine full time long term, added payed security would be a big loss to the pocket book. For a full time operation it might be worth it but unfortunately it would be too expensive for a small timer.
@@ModernProspector Yep, most major commercial mining is where added security personnel are found, though I'm sure for a small claim or two there'd be an apt fellow willing to keep an eye on things in the interim for a cut of the yield or in some other kind of deal, there's always a way to make it work to everyone's benefit, plus its good just making connections/ networking alongside that.
There are ways to deal with claim jumpers...unfortunately, the "shoot, shovel and shut up" method doesn't work in Canada very well when you can't legally carry. ;)
An American Homestead Funny you say that. Alberta had our favourite Premier use those exact words when mad cow got overhyped. He was talking about infected cows but still. Lol Ralph Klein was his name. The only politician that I’ve heard of that stood up for those he ruled over. Told the feds to keep their sticky fingers off of our oil money, got the province out of debt, got drunk, went to a homeless shelter and yelled at the homeless to get jobs. Good times. Lol
**David Attenborough voice** Behold, the Canukistani -- a gentle, Hobbit-like folk, though occasionally prone to a bit of mischief-making claim-jumpery ... :-)
The flashlight that can be used at a fire fly level you should show us what it looks like in a cave if that is enough light to survive and move around safely.
Hey Dan, I have been watching you for a quite a while and found you through Pioneer Pauly's page(alliteration). I have caught the gold bug and I am going to start prospecting around the Umpqua river down here in Oregon. My wife and I both think that it would be awesome if we could join you up there sometime to help and be involved, and maybe I could play some gigs up that way. Let me know if this is something you might be willing to do.
Really enjoy your videos and I have learned a lot from your shared knowledge. Sometimes I go back to review older videos to find the answers to questions that arise on the subject matter which you are the master. Can't wait for the results of the clean up. Your mine is beautifully scary. I bet when you are in there you maintain a high level of excitement. Thanks Dan.
How much seamwork undercutting before the ceiling above responds to gravity with a fall. That is my constant fear when I’m along with you. Then I realize there would be nothing to watch if there had been a rock fall. Know your mining dos and donts. Respectfully, DOL.
@@achance007 he has a canine edge to edge speech issue. It could have been fixed when he was younger but I'm sure his parents didn't give 2 furry rat's asses as long as he could speak properly and he does.
I could only imagine the pleasure of owning all these mines and being able to go any or every day of the week! I think I would be living from a tent all summer long.✌️
Good job Dan...So wondering what would you do if you caught a clam jumper?...We know you dont pack....So would you take him to the police?..And what do they ( LAW ) do to them?..Thanks............
OK at 6:47 I thought it was cave paintings on the wall on the left there looks like 2 people pointing at the bat I got so confused times I thought it was a cave not a mine (idk if those can be the same) but it looks like people!
I don't know if I could spend any kind of time under ground. I feel knots in my stomach, watching you chip away at what's holding up the mountain. Looking forward to seeing the results.
What do you expect, your in the Bat Cave, Most certainly those are the Original Bat Mobile, Bruce Wayne was a copy cat...I Just don't know anything, ever again. I'll just go that way----------------------------).
DAN! What are you doing? You know these people gonna complain about you not showing the findings!! 😂 😂 Remember the video you made and showed findings all through the video? Hehe. That was so funny!! 😂 Anyway, I wanted you to know I love ALL your videos and I learn lots from them. I especially liked this one because you used out of the box tools in the mine to get the samples. Like the better operated vacuum. I use one of those too. I live in Alabama so gold is not as plentiful like where you get to go. Here in Alabama you have to go through great lengths to even find where it is, much less get it out of the ground. (GREAT LENGTHS INDEED!!)😂 😂 You’re a cool guy, great teacher, very informative and just glad I get to be apart of what you share! Thanks Dan!!
I wear a light grade(skater, bicycle) helmet in my own basement. Six foot tall in a six foot 2 environment. MAKE A SPACE FOR YOUR BRAIN BUCKET IN THE TRUCK!!
Did anyone notice the ancient rock art on the wall below left on the cave wall, at 6.45...??... And again much longer at 12.16 minutes. Looks like a group of armed men.. Looks very ancient! . Please don't mine those away please..!!
Sociologically, I find this interesting. You were all by yourself, and hoping to keep some secrets even; yet you are/ended up in the company of 44,000-odd views, and mine is the 482nd comment. Very cool. I enjoyed your adventure!
I think they are cute! We had one in our house, and everyone answer was to kill it! ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! We have a rodent in our house now, came in as a babe. I think it is a rat. But he’s here alone and bothers no one. I feed him. He’s clean, no droppings in sight! No dideases, always been inside my closet and room.🥰
Hi.Dan my store Canyon cable on sixth ave in hope sells sand bags.We are open 6-7 during the week 8-5 on saterdays.Sell by the bag or by the bale.Sell anything you want including the bosses mother.Take her and the sand bags are free.Luck Mcbain.
It's funny how on RU-vid everything I think is gold, isn't. And you guys pick out this little flake that just looks like a rock until you pick it up, and then it's painfully apparent it's gold
Great vid Dan, probably a stupid question but there is no answers if the questions never asked....... Can using rippled hoses on the vacuum (and dredges) work as a sluice and stop the gold before it makes it into the vacuum box?
Hi bud, are you going to be giving away any more gold in your upcoming videos? I seem to always miss them, bad luck I guess. Anyway I'm a huge fan, all the way from Nova Scotia Canada keep up the good work.
Don't you feel that you should have bracing here and there? Especially when you are alone. Hate to see Pauly stop by and see your boots sticking out a pile of rubble. They make these corkscrew type where you just trwist then it expands outward. Safety my man...safety.
My cells having trouble charging and I had to unplug it just for this comment. You sir are an absolute oxymoron when it comes to pure common sense. Yes you have books smarts I can tell you know your stuff. But you sir. Will never ever be able to keep that mine a secret. Not only does mother nature not change unless a drastic natural land occurrence or man had a hand. So with that being said. Not hard to find. Also anything underground or above ground involving mining in mountainous terrain should always be common knowledge 😉. Not because so many have told you. All your veiwers know you need to be schooled so not to makes a fatal mistake due to lack of common Sense 😅. Thank you sir for giving me a reason.
Dept. Store for sandbags... Naah Go to Thriftstore... To the pillowcase section And there you will find as many cheap, and easy to wash carry sacks as you want
O ye who accumulates wealth and holds it. No doubt it will not avail you from the painful punishment. You owe us Ahul-Bayt 1/4th of your finds. Indeed you have been warned.
You need to get a fully automatic license. Just so when you see people on your claim you can just randomly unload a whole clip. Not at the trespassers. Just in the area. They'll be pooping their Pants while gathering up their stuff. You never know, you might end up with a bunch of free prospecting stuff.
I live way to far away Dan but i have to be curious. Would you or have you considered leasing any of your claims? Some like me have equipment but not the funds to purchase a claim straight out. Here in the east i joined a club to access ground. But its mostly glacial till and well you can find a small amounts of fly specks. But certainly nothing that would accumulate much value. Look forward to seeing the samples processed hope they are good.
I can't tell you how many massive wolf spiders I've swiped off of the back of my neck while falling a tree. I think the vibration from the saw makes em jump from the tree or something because it's happened way to many times. I've never been bitten though, I guess wolf spiders are friendly fellas..
Hey Dan, I know this vidio is a yr old, well were the bat was hanging it looked like gold in the rock ?!!!! Bits shinning in the rock walll 🤘 , go back check it out it you didn't!!! Thanks for your videos! God bless MR
Have you ever thought of having some custom "Dan Hurd Gold Bag" made. I live in Kansas and watch your videos and in the town where I live there is a bag company that makes flour and assorted other sacks from cloth. Here is there web site if you might be interested. www.hubcoinc.com/ And no I don't work for them but I do work at a print shop.
A Suggestion? Take a cheap mobile with you that has it's rear camera lens close to the top edge then you can use that (with inbuilt light) to see down into crevices and view it on the 5" screen. You could add a folding mirror screen cover so the phone could be held at any angle and you can still see. If you got some more of that yellow dust on you, you'd make a good Simpsons Character : )
Hey Dan curious on how claims work? Is all this government property? Is a claim basically a permit that temporarily gives you rights to it? Do you have to give a percentage of your findings?
I think you need a sturdy metal gate across the entrance of the mine, and a camera inside the mine looking out. Dan, do you have cell service up there? We have a remote ranch in the mountains. We have good cell phone service there. We got a jet pack from Verizon, and a spotlight cam from RAiNG. Now we have real time security footage from our ranch. We can talk to people through the cameras.
Do you think that vein has enough tonnage to continue on with a profitable mining operation? Perhaps there are larger veins worth mining buried under a thin layer of alluvium near that vein that you'll come across eventually.
Hey dan u prbly thought about this but what about a good locking bolt in tool box for ur truck!? Ud always have ur h hat xtra pan fold down shovel or n xtra of whatever u may have forgotten in the past. Unless u take different vehicles each time ud b set. Thnx for the scenery
Is it the color of your flashlight causing those places all over to look gold color or what ? When you point out a seam and you say there is gold I can't tell the difference, I wish I could . I really enjoy gold videos but I wish I could see the gold underground. Help me out . Tom the zook here!
You keep going on about 'your claim' and 'claim jumpers'. I don't know how it works. Do you find spots and submit some sort of paperwork to say it's your area, or are you just saying it's yours and anyone can go there but you just don't like it?
So you missed a chance to educate folks that they were on your claim ? Politely of course. They may have been happy to get educated by a real miner.. Maybe just rock hounds. A good reason to work with a partner when out in the sticks.
In regards to forgetting supplies, everytime I take a trip more than 10 miles, I end up back inside my house for something I forgot 2 or 3 times and I still forget something.
Dan go over to Mudfossil University and see Roger over there. See his shows regarding gold. You won't be able to tell anyone about it but it will reveil it's source. Suspend your disbelief until you see his evidence.
