We made this hike July 26 of 2019, since then they have made this area off limits with fines and or jail time. You can find the information here www.nps.gov/re....
We take a trip to the Redwood National Park in California and hunt down Hyperion, The tallest tree in the world. We have to hike up a creek off of the official trail but since it was my 2nd time I was able to retrace my steps and find it easily. I didn't video most of the trip but if you want to find the tallest tree in the world yourself google is your friend.

As the poster of this video has said this area is now off limits due to people damaging the area. Please people stop making your way to this tree. It has destroyed the surrounding area as there are no direct trails to this tree. There is now a $5000 fine and jail time for going near it.

The other (2) are about 2 years old & are between 3 & 4 feet tall. They are the smallest of the Redwoods & will only Max-out at 160 feet, but I will be gone, by that time. @farmersadventure6232
@farmersadventure6232 3 года назад
First time I went and found it myself but along the way hooked up with a couple from LA in the creek and we found it together. If you google search it there are many videos about this tree and also websites with directions. There is a lot of debate whether or not the location of these big trees should be revealed to the public so I made this video pretty vague on where to go and not a step by step but if you google search its not hard to find. Average Joe could find it with online directions (dont plan on cell service so print or screenshot/save directions) but know you need to get a permit which they have limited numbers so get there early, you have to walk up a creek and around/over/under some big logs, and the trip back up the hill is pretty long but you can take breaks if needed.

@@farmersadventure6232 The footage could still be used to guess where the tree is or figure it out, despite that this video isn't a full, precise guide how to get there or the exact, complete location details (coordinates or whatever) hasn't been divulged. I do see the section on Hyperion is pretty short and ambiguous, but the title of this video and the description box are about Hyperion, which is likely what people are looking for. It's the 3rd result from the top when I searched for this tree. I do see you denied a person access to the information and posted about the jail time/fines in the description box, so that shows some responsibility taken for the communal safety of this tree. But footage of this tree beyond researchers, rangers or other authorized people should not be allowed, nor posted to SM. (I mean, obviously, others could still film, but it's highly discourageable for reasons I stated above.) Posting it to SM can just make it more popular, thus can encourage people to search for it due to curiosity, experience, or whatever. That includes drones.

@summer-c7i
@summer-c7i Год назад
@@shanebreezy4453 LOL, no, wrong. I already watched the video, which is why I already stated way before you even commented that he doesn't give a full guide. A person can still take this video with the coordinates and try to find Hyperion in person, despite it has been heavily discouraged by the National Park Service, who are in the caretaker of this tree. It's the interest being sparked by videos such as one like this and blogging posts that have enabled tourists to find Hyperion. That's all according to the National Park Service. There was already interest shown in this comment section to hiking up there, which whether the person did or not is unknown. So, calling out these videos isn't crying.🤣🤣 It's calling protecting this rare, old tree and forest, especially when the mentality of "it's just a tree" (or its species doesn't matter) is why there's only 5% naturally growing in California. Hyperion is also over 600 years old, so yeah, definitely not worth preserving. So, this video isn't the problem itself regarding the high-rising popularity of Hyperion (that popularity led to its degradation) and why the NPS shuttered Hyperion's surrounding area, but **this video is a part of the problem.** I also have replied to the creator in a fair, civil and factual manner. I can't say the same for you in your reply here, but lol. And regardless of what you say or want, I will continue to advocate for the safety of this tree and its species.

Good job, your video is part of what has encouraged an army of people to go to this tree and damage and desecrate the surrounding forest. It should go without saying that the type of person who's motivated to take a nature trek to emulate what they saw a vlogger doing isn't going to be the most respectful when it comes to leaving nature untouched. Too bad the $5k fine for going off trail to get to this tree can't be retroactively handed to you for what you helped unleash.

Yes my video, that had basically no views until they said people would be fined, is the reason people climb on and destroy things......
@summer-c7i
@summer-c7i 2 года назад
@@farmersadventure6232 This video is probably not the reason for people to seek out Hyperion or "climb on and destroy things," of course. To be honest, I don't think most visitors came to the Park to maliciously and intentionally hurt the tree, but it's the irresponsible behavior, such as leaving garbage behind, that hurts the tree. Unfair for the land to be turned into a garbage pit, including defecation! These are rare, old trees. If someone truly wants to pursue this tree out of curiosity, experience, bragging rights or whatever, they're going to find it, at least online. The pursuit, regardless of the NPS' warnings and such, signifies selfishness to me. However, by showing Hyperion in this video and the title, even though the clip is short, it potentially enables and encourages more people to find it by using the vid to guess or figure out its location. I've seen some effort on your part to deter that, so I recognize that. I'm not saying you didn't show any care when you were hiking there, such as not climbing on the tree. But the NPS has effectively blamed bloggers and other visitors for the destruction of the flora and terrain, so even though this video isn't the problem itself, it's a part of the problem. I realize the views and likes aren't that high, and I'm sure the ban upped the views. But the potential of what I'm referring is still there, such as spiking curiosity to hike to Hyperion, especially if the Park decides to open the area back up. I think a good compromise is just to edit out Hyperion and focus on the rest of the visit, then continue to deny to divulging the exact location/how to get there.
