That’s a classic wholesome love story. You take off on a long term challenge, and run into someone that can help push you through struggle. Eeeeee I've been with my Appalachian trail partner for almost 3 years now. We're engaged and just a few weeks away from having our first baby. I am so excited to take this baby on trail this summer. I never thought I'd meet my person in the woods but here we are. The best and most secure relationship I've ever been in. Congratulations to you two!!!!
@@Remembering-rq6si interesting perspective. For me marriage isn't a big thing. We have a baby together and that ties us together for life for better or worse. He's extremely committed and I've never felt that he would leave or walk away. There's a lot of security in our relationship. We had a baby first because we're older and I didn't want to run out time to be a mom. It was absolutely planned and we worked on it for 14 months!!We can have a celebration and get married whenever. There's no time limit. We're already completely entwined. I'm not worried.

I think what Smoke Master said is very true, that on the trail you are with a stranger, talking with them about anything...you form a bond. A bond is an important part to base love off of. I remember when you two officially made the announcement you two were a couple, I wrote to Maddie telling Smoke Master...."You make sure you take care of that sweet girl!" I guess he has!

This was so great, and the bloopers are always so funny. The one thing to ask is, are you both working and how was that transition from the trail? You mentioned that you don't see each other as much bc of your work. But how was it transitioning back? Can't wait to see what's next. Thanks for the updates
I work on videos and social media stuff full time, and smoke has a more traditional job in a store. Because I work for myself, I have more flexibility and it’s another thing that we imagine most new couples would have a harder time with than we did. But it’s still hard to some degree!

We made it official on a zero day in New York City, after leaving from Pawling, NY. I would guess maybe around Mile 1500. Sometimes when we were lazy we’d cram into one one-person tent but that was rarely a good night of sleep
