Thought it was an interesting experiment to determine (or help bring a new perspective to) the right way to play the Dyers main riff!
Also I didn't use the original audios of Metallica 'cause copyright basically, so if you want to compare the sounds of the record then just open it in another one of your 150+ tabs!

Interesting that Trevor Peres of Obituary also downpicks a lot of his stuff and calls his riffs "cavemen metal"

I always took it as 2-3-2-3 as the intro bit. But the actual main riff, I play as 2-2-2-2. If you look at their songs, when it's a quick downpicking section, it's usually one note.

There is indeed a bit of 2-3-2-3 in the intro, but it's power chords and double stops in those parts. Most of this debate that I've read has always been the main riff.

The only reason this debate started was because of the official sheet music books Metallica released that incorrectly transcribed that riff as 232323. It's not the only mistake in the Justice book but it is by far the hardest to identify as incorrect due to the speed of the riff, the heavy palm muting, and the mix of the studio track. Anyway, so people bought that book, made text tabs of that transcription and posted them. Now you have a generation of guitarists confused. Listening to the track slowed down was not the origin of the controversy.

I used to think they didn't play it 2323 because it was way too difficult, then I listened to Artillery and the entire By Inheritance album is full of these trill-gallops and it's actually very fun to play

for me it's the Kirk's better solo, it has everything: fast scale runs, tremlo picking, tapping, hammer ons, full offs, full step bends on the 22nd fret ...

I noticed that the harder i pick and fret the power cords (i pick and fret very aggressively hence why i go through so many string and 2mm picks) that they will go sharp when im palm muting. Especially if im alternate picking at very fast speeds for songs like Dyers Eve.

But my question is that if he picks that hard, so both down and up strokes must bend the string, so then we hear 3-3-3-3? Unless his downstroke is normal but the upstroke is hard so it make us to hear 2-3-2-3🤔

I have a video where I tried to get a close guitar tone to Justice's with the Archetype: Nolly, I have a preset and you can find It in my channel! I did change the settings a bit for this video tho, but you can get close to it with that.

I don't know why it errk's me, but certain players such as this video creator, and Hetfield himself, plays power chords using their pinky. I'm able to use my pinky, but this guy and others have this pinky where it looks like they have crazy gap within the frets of the power chord. Either they have skinny fingers and small hands or something. I like the way using the pinky looks when players play guitar, but it just feels natural using my ring finger, as I'm used to playing hammers off the power chord using my open pinky. But I just feel too scrunched up using my pinky to play power chords.

Haberlo puesto al inicio sería hacer un video que otras personas ya han hecho, no aportaría nada a la discusión, así que elegí no hacerlo y dejarlo como confirmación al final.
