As a former moderator of Cereal Soup, let me explain: the game is developed by a single individual, which is why it feels jank to you. The name was picked because of an old in-joke between the dev and old friends. Sole dev loves the suricate, which is why they are the only species unlocked by default. Though I was kicked off as a moderator, I harbor no ill will towards the dev and the community. Hell, I think some of my contributions are still in.
The Soup MMO actually looked like a hidden gem at first, but it got worse the farther you got. Makes sense though that they would try to lure you in with really cool character creation in a furry game.
Cereal Soup had a promising future that sadly just didn’t happen. I remember finding the game back when it had its own website, development was pretty frequent but there were still major bugs that needed to be fixed (like seeing everyone else as default models, that was the most annoying to me). Then they moved it to Steam and it seemed like bugs got more and more worse. The controls felt worse too, it made it extremely not fun to play. Character customization would completely wipe at times, I’ve lost several characters because of it. It seems like the main dev suffers from health issues sadly, so hiatuses with updates were common, which was fine with me. I haven’t touched the game since August last year, and I only hopped on for a minute to see if my favorite character was still there (surprise surprise, he was wiped). I remade him, took pictures, and then left. I had some good times with the early development of the game, everyone had left Feralheart at this point so a new game with better customization was a blessing to me and my friends. (Also, the game is a survival MMO, or at least it was supposed to be, rather than a “furry game”)
Yeah, CS has a long way to go until it picks things back up. If you want to play FH without its terrible staff, play FeralHeart Unleashed. They're having some server issues at the moment but those should be fixed soon.
I have not played Unleashed myself so I cannot give my opinion on it, but I would reccomend playing the original FeralHearts. It is still around, though it is not as active as it was in its hayday, but everyone I have met there has been nothing but nice. I have heard bad things about the staff and players in Unleashed, but I have never dipped my toes into Unleashed myself so IDK if any of it is true. And I hear a lot of people in Unleashed saying negative things about the staff and players of the original FH, which I have a hard time believing since I actually played that game and have not seen or heard of any toxicity from anyone there. Sounds to me like there is a lot of bad blood between the two games' groups, but I would reccomend checking out both games and drawing your own conclusions about which game and community you prefer, and don't be dererred from playing either because of people saying negative things about either. Try out both games and draw your own conclusions about the gameplay and communities.
@@vinnamah989 As someone who used to play the original FH game from 2011 to around 2016, the staff are definitely corrupt. They are manipulative, hypocritical, and will ban you over the slightest thing. They will not take any form of criticism no matter how constructive and will passive-aggressively insult you and/or ban you for it. Red banned people for swearing when he himself would drop F-bombs all the time. Sura writes petty journals about people she doesn't like on her DA page and wears Red's ass as a hat. She has attacked and insulted people in PMs, and spread false rumors about the new owner of KovuLKD's source code (xSpirit). Razmirz is similarly trigger-happy when he's not just making excuses for doing nothing. He also spread false rumors about xSpirit. The lower-ranking staff are either corrupted already or too powerless to do anything about it. The FHU staff aren't perfect, and their stance on copyright is really stupid, but they're nowhere near as bad as the original FH staff. ~ Täss
@@vinnamah989 Also it's worth mentioning that FHU is approved by KovuLKD (FH's creator) and uses his original source code with his permission. Meanwhile, oFH now uses a clunky version Raz made trying (and failing) to bruteforce the game and get the source code. This is likely one reason why their awful replacement maps are so buggy.
@@Keznen The maps were always buggy, I played the game in 2013 and they were buggy then. The replacement maps are not awful either, just empty, because there are not a lot of active players anymore.
That furry game was a shitty version of Impressive Title and Feral Heart. Though both of those are already dead there are alternative servers, my favorites being Dragon's Den and Last Moon. Definitely worth checking for future videos, they are just role playing games with basic combat.
Those are good but play FeralHeart Unleashed. The original FH is run by assholes. PS: They're animal games, not furry games. Not everyone who plays these games are gross furries.
@@josuk8 the old FeralHeart still exists too, but not a lot of activity anymore. It is kind of a ghost town. From what I heard, there is a lot of bad blood between the original FeralHeart and Unleashed fanbases, people on both sides saying the mods and the players on the other side are super toxic. I haven't dipped my toes into Unleashed but I have met some really nice people on the original, and heard some bad things about what has gone on with staff and other players in Unleashed, but I am also reading a lot of people who play Unleashed say the same about the original so IDK
Okay but the Cereal Soup character creation seems pretty cool even to this day. Weird hairstyles aside it looks like you could make a really detailed creature. Also the suricates look like a mix between a thylacine and an opossum which is AWESOME imo
Im sorry but cereal soup is not obscure at all and well known in the furry rp mmo community, mostly for its insane lag and bad development moments... I remember not being able to play it for like a month or two because one of the i believe 2 devs literally vanished with psrt of the code
I tried to play it bc I was heartbroken after fer.al died, and it seemed so cool and fun! But there was practically no on else in the servers and I couldn't find any people to talk to. It seemed dead so I gave it up. I didn't experience any lag, but I do have a good laptop.
Isnt that the pool game that one clip came from? You know where the guy was like "nice shot--------" and immediately ate his words as the guy shooting got two balls lol
I know it’s not related to the video at all but nice you got the three splatoon 1 amiibo, epic (I’ve wanted that green squid for ages now and my inking boy and girl are very damaged)
@@henke37 it doesnt bug me. i dont use steam enough to care. i downloaded it to desktop via their website and for some reason it wormed its way into steam and broke itself. i have a ton of IT/FH games so i kind of enjoy the stupid collection in the corner.
@@Keznen yea i did, its a huge improvement over fh for sure. i prefer it servers personally since theres things to do and dont rely on socializing with others, so i only played fhu for a moment back when it released
@@Keelvin Cereal Soup actually has a discord that i'm a part of. The community is very sweet and the reason for a lot of its current issues delve from a complicated past. Its however being worked on and one person is trying very hard to repair it. It was working well for awhile, but with some of its code having gone missing, it had to be redone from the ground up and its servers are currently being moved.
cereal soup honestly makes me wanna make a fallout mod where you play as a small animal of some kind think stray but in the fallout world imagine roaming through a city say dc in fallout 3 & having to deal with super mutants bos soldiers starving raiders etc
The soup one isn;t really a furry game, furry specifically refers to anthropomorphic animals and non of the creatures in the game are even close to that. It's more akin to something like Warrior-Cats or that one owl movie (who's name is weirdly similar to Rise of The Guardians'), and while those fandoms commonly overlap they are very different.
Anthropomorphic just means they have human qualities, and, though I haven't seen the cereal soup footage I know it's a little like FeralHeart, and you could definitely call those "anthro"
Guardians of Ga'Hoole. And the movie is merely an adaptation of the books, which I would actually highly recommend! The movie itself is.... it's certainly *there* (i mean, hey, at least we got a cool song out of it), but the books are actually really good. Plus it's nice to have a piece of media that depicts owls as capable of violence for once, instead of pushing the "oh owls are just cute little fuzzballs that you can totally hold and pet" agenda, despite them literally being birds of prey.
while cereal soup isn't technically a furry game as all of the animals are feral, let's be honest, these types of games are definitely gateways into the fandom
@@sunbeames1847 EXCACTLY! Worst part is how steam doesnt even care about the quality of the games being put on their store... steam is filled with p0rn games... One of the reasons I stopped using steam. Lets not forget the f*rry p0rn too, absolutely disgusting. What is even going on at the people who work at Steam?
@@gone9820 honestly nothing against porn or even weird porn as long as no ones being harmed. I haven't had a pc in years, though I'd hope they'd atleast make sure the rating system is still functional to indicate if the games are of low quality or not.
