The best PPV of 95 is clearly Survivor Series. A good amount of classic SS matches and one hell of a main event.

I was 8 in 1994, when i first started watching. I was so in love with wrestling that i loved it then, and i still love the New Generation. I watch on Peacock til this day. Now 2008 to 2013 is what i think sucks.

1995 was the year that I got into wrestling in a big way so I look back on it with nostalgia. Shawn Michaels was definitely a reason that I was hooked. I was 9 years old. I attended my first show in Dublin, Ireland in June of that year which was a decent show for the time. Bret Hart Vs Hakushi, Shawn Michaels Vs IRS and Kama Vs The Undertaker were good matches on the card.

Before watching the video, I’m thinking some of the high points are: 1) Shawn Michaels vs. JJ at IYH 2, Shawn wins the intercontinental title for the 2nd time 2) Survivor series wild card match 3). Survivor series Diesel vs. Bret Hart no holds barred, Bret wins WWF title for 3rd time 4) Diesel vs Shawn Michaels Wrestlemania XI 5). And my favorite moment from 1995 - Shawn Michaels turns face on RAW in May, high-fiving & hugging Diesel with Bam Bam Bigelow being the 3rd wheel

I feel sorry for the US fans having to pay for the 2 Golden era’s of Wrestlings PPVs as over here in the UK we got every WWF/WWE PPV for free up until around 2007 I’m not sure maybe someone could correct me on that but I believe it was a deal stuck between Vince McMahon and Rupert Murdoch who owns ‘Sky’ satellite tv which is what we Brits had instead of cable and I think the deal was you can have all our PPV’s for free but you can’t even give UK fans the option to pay for WCW PPV’s. So on one hand we watched every WWF/WWE PPV for free but we could only watch WCW Nitro and would have to wait like a year to buy a WCW produced VHS tape which was frustrating during the “Monday Night Wars” watching Nitro and wanting to see the big events but could only see still images on the following Nitro of the event but we can’t complain we got to see the very best WWE big events for free during its best periods. Then with WCW gone i guess Vince wanted us to start paying but the quality of the product was lame compared to what we had been used to for years so I only ever purchased a few Wrestlemanias. I would of been happy to pay for events we got for free (provided we were allowed the option to purchase WCW PPVs) over the past few decades but from the time they started charging until today, it’s just not worth it. Unless you have the WWE Network
@oli3437
@oli3437 10 месяцев назад
And in the UK we watched Raw & Nitro on a Friday. So over here it was the “Friday Night Wars” but those of us with the internet knew the results in advance. Which is what made WWE’s PPV live events even more special as because no matter where you were in the world you got to see it live. Even if we had to wait until 2am in the morning to watch them

I caught summer slam this year and that started my interest in wrestling. Survivor series 1995 is still one of my favourite ever shows and I think the wildcard match should come back. With all survivors facing off at the next ppv to be number one contender at Royal Rumble

I am 37 years old, but am still very much stuck in the 90's. I finally watched the entire New Generation Era back in 2013 - 2015, and while I didn't start watching wrestling until January 1, 1996 with Nitro... Holy crap do I love the New Gen Era. I feel like a little kid from 6 (October 1993) to 8 (October 1995) again. For some reason when I go back and watch that era for a good length of time, I literally feel like I am back in 1993 - 1995, but this time as a 37 year old. It's just so immersive for me. The old commercials on the shows that I have that are complete recordings definitely help as well.

Bret "Hitman" Hart made 1995 a very good year for WWF. I would say 1995 was better than 1996 because Bret Hart was around the entire year. Survivor Series 1995 is my favorite pay-per-view ever because of the main event.

Another thing I want to point out is- when seeing your entire lifetime's knowledge of history shrunken down, or "zoomed out" on, you really do get a feel for how skewed your perception of time is. For example: I might think "yea, Razor Ramon was in WWF for many years, then he went to WCW for a bunch of years. But shit, his Razor Ramon run was just a mere 4 years. We remember so many feuds and PPVs and stuff, that it feels like they have been there 10 years in our younger minds. If you're like me, who was born in that sweet spot where we eked right in last second to the vary tail end of the 80s wrestling, to you, you got to see 3, maybe 4 years of Hogans 10 year run as HH for WWF (83-93). When I was 10, Waylon Mercy felt like a larger than life villain. Then according to this, he only appeared 11 times smh. What the hell is even time?

These are some hit moments, that Bret/Davey match was brutal. I still love the way bret could make a match seem like a total fight. He's often cited as not being able to fit into the attitude era. But I think with the right adjustments he'd have been amazing

Imagine Bret/Austin WWF Title matches in 98 had Bret stayed. Those coulda been epic and added another chapter to what was an awesome feud rivaling Savage/Page for feud of the year I'd say in 97. Oh what coulda been.

Perhaps I can't help but see Summerslam 95 through rose-tinted nostalgia shades (as I got the VHS for Christmas that year) but I've never considered it an all-time bad PPV. Along with Michaels-Ramon Ladder Match II, the opening match with 1-2-3 Kid and Hakushi was pretty decent and I remember the young HHH-Bob Holly and Bret Hart-Isaac Yankem bouts being better than might be expected. One thing you don't mention here is the Alundra Blayze vs Bull Nakano match the Raw after WM 11 which was easily one of the WWE's best women's matches of the 90s.

I stand by that Owen, Bret, Nash, Hall, Davey Boy, Shawn, Yokozuna, and Goldust were the only worthwhile things that lasted in wrestling. Honorable mention to Waylon Mercy though. That was an interesting character that would’ve worked if the timing was better. He and Jake Roberts would’ve worked well together.

Still makes no sense why The Allied Powers (Bulldog and Luger) didn't get a major push. That's a team that could have led your tag team division. Instead they barely had them wrestle. Or they should have had the Bulldog and Luger get into the Intercontinental picture. Basically the WWF let them fizzle and not do much at all

I never looked at "The New Generation" as a weird experimental period, but then again, I was a kid during that era, so to me, it was just simply "wrestling". I guess I was too young to understand that there was a changing of the guard. For me, the new generation era was great because some of the most cartoonishly colorful and cool characters happened in that era to an 11/12 year old. Crush was awesome, as cartoonishly corny as the character would be viewed today. Just a big hulking guy who wears orange and purple. Doing was at the height of that super creepy angry violent clown character he did. At that time, Diesel was one of my favorites. I remember he got the grey tank top and became a good guy and had the world title. That feud between he and Bret was the first time I got emotionally involved in a feud- like I felt shitty that Bret was royalty to me, but Diesel was just THAT dude at the time. At least in the late 90s, I was already in my teens and the PERFECT age to be front and center to witness the Attitude Era, and lets be honest, to date, that is contested to be one of the greatest eras in the recorded history of professional wrestling, financially and otherwise.

I wouldn't say you have bad taste at all. I'm a sucker for watching 1995 and 1996 pre-Attitude Era matches too, and believe me there were a ton of gems from that period. The storylines were utter dog shit for the most part though, so that's why that era gets crapped on so badly from critics when compared to other eras.

I got into wrestling in this era, and I found myself engrossed with it. The new generation did have a lot of problems with terrible characters and bad storylines, but I still remember enjoying the program a lot. I use to really enjoy watching Duke "The Dumpster" Droese and I wished the did more with him. My other favourites were Hunter Hearst Helmsley, The Body Donnas with the Rad Radford antics, Bret Hart going toe-to-toe with Hakushi (who was amazing), Jean Pierre Lafitte and Waylon Mercy. I thought Bret Hart, Shawn and Razor were carrying the PPVs a lot, but I agree Survivor Series 1995 was awesome!

Razor, Bret, 1-2-3 Kid, Waylon Mercy were great stuff too. Phantasio was silly but there was a lot of gold there too. And who could hate Tekno Team 2000?
