Thank you so much for that feedback! This was only the second one of these so I’m finding my stride but feel great about where they’re headed. Thanks for more “hand-eye-ear-mind” philosophy of slide guitar. When Padawans imitate and emulate Jedi Masters, we can pick up skills and develop and discover ourselves as artists and musicians. I especially like your analogy of the overlapping of zones of influences and inspirations to assist in finding a personal voice. Please keep making these types of videos that expand us as “string sliders.” Mahalo and Aloha from Hawaii 🤙🏼🎸🌈

Man, you are so welcome I’m really glad this resonated with you! The tone we end up making starts with our minds/ hearts. We start there, that’s why there’s so much discussion about influences, thinking about tone etc… really glad that this meant something to you, we have a lot more of these coming up!

Now your rockin' Jules! Nice detail. Comprehensive. Thanks for the presentation. Learning a lot. My ultimate slide player is George Harrison. His intonation was other wordly. Playing the sitar probably helped here. There are many parallels between Indian music and slide playing. Many famous Indian classical slide players that blow my mind with crazy technique. Cheers

I really appreciate that, thank you! The idea with this slightly new style of video is that we'll be able to increase output between the Leyhe lectures/ lessons to the other style of videos like the mulecaster/ recording studio video as well as live band performances ... we're working on all of the above so stay tuned for lots more!

This approach of combining influences really resonated with me. Any topic I research (even outside of music), I tend to ask how would I do it my way with what I know/my background. Also that part of focusing on the fundamentals, doing few things, but doing it well (when talking about Derek) was a great point!!! Imma take that to heart!

If i could get the Jerry Dougless type of dobro sound with my guitar slides that would be nice, i wish i had the problem of sounding too much like otther people, that sounds like "pro guitarplayer problems"

I wish I could get Jerry Douglass’ sounds with my slides too- I definitely used to play slide more like a dobro, higher action and big thick strings… but now I’m way more into being able to do it all on one guitar setup for both slide/ not slide if I have to do either. I love transcribing as many folks as I can and just combining influences as much as possible, but sounding like yourself however you can at the end of the day is the goal that’s for sure!

I love your slide work! FYI, Duane started playing slide in standard tuning then switched to open E for the blues songs, but still played in standard for melodic slide for Mountain Jam and Dreams. I also really like the fat slide tone Warren Haynes gets.
