Fine Accoutrements (www.fineaccoutrements.com/) offers shaving soap, shaving cream, aftershave, aftershave balms, brushes, razors and shaving bowls. While you can always purchase direct from their site, they can also be found at the following popular third party retailers: Maggard Razors (www.maggardrazors.com/), West Coast Shaving (www.westcoastshaving.com/), Amazon (www.amazon.com/stores/node/30...) and Top of the Chain (topofthechain.ca/).
Platinum is based on the famed Aventus by Creed. Fine really put this on the map and did a nice job of duplicating the scent, which features notes of: Pineapple, Birch, Black Currant, Musk, Oakmoss, Bergamot, Apple, Patchouli, Ambergris, Jasmine, Vanilla and Rose. This scent is one of the most favored in wet shaving and for good reason. It is complex and masculine. I am initially met with a smoky pineapple and black currant shot before the scent becomes too complex to pull out individual notes. This is a scent I would consider a multi occasion user and also a multi-seasonal wear. Scent strength is strong out of the bottle with good initial sillage but with a short lived longevity. T Try That Soap (trythatsoap.com/) recommends Ariana & Evans Spartacus, Declaration Grooming Sellout, Stirling Soap Co. Executive Man and Viking Soaps Ragnar as comparable scent profiles.
Fine Accoutrements Aftershave is a simple formula of: Alcohol, Water, Fragrance and Menthol. The aftershave features a high alcohol bite upon initial application. The consistency is much like water and the aftershave is clear. The aftershave dries quickly, with the dissipation of the alcohol and leaves no residue on the skin. Given the lack of skin food in the aftershave, this provides little to no post shave benefit aside from an initial antiseptic effect due to the alcohol. This is not a great stand alone post shave and I find myself always applying a balm after the aftershave. Fine Accoutrements Aftershave receives a PostShaveScore of 65. For similar performance in post shave I suggest: Folsom & Co. and Clubman Pinaud.

Wow, great timing, Mr. Ruds. I purchased this last week, it arrived yesterday, and I planned on having a shave tonight with it. I cracked the bottle last night and the scent IS amazing!

I agree that they are priced high, but the initial strength of the scent is pretty impressive. Mr Fine also nails his cologne "dupe" scents better than anyone. Unfortunately, the price per bottle usually deters most people away from the aftershaves. His "Santal Absolut" is probably the best sandalwood scented splash, IMHO

Great take on Fine Accoutrements Platinum aftershave, Ruds! I have about different scents, but I think Platinum bottle has the lowest level. As others have said, they are fun aftershaves, but I probably won't replace when gone due to the increase in price.(I think I paid $10-12 for my bottles a few yrs back) Thanks! Cheers! -Rob

King Ruds, how true.. I find these aftershaves damn expensive for what they offer (nothing). I would definitely buy an eau de toillette instead. If you are familiar with Zara stores, I found here in Greece for 19.95 euros the Vibrant Leather perfume which is a very good clone of Aventus and lasts till the next morning. It doesn't have the opening of the Aventus, but when time passes the scent is very close. Good value. Search for it as you seem to be an Aventus lover like I am. George

Agree, the price makes it too prohibitive considering there are better aftershaves that cost less or the same. I love Zara Vibrant Leather. I have an almost full bottle. Thank you for you continued support and suggestions.

My experience with Fine AS (L'Orange Noir) is different. I found the silky, oily ingredient rather beneficial to my skin. However, I am more a balm type. Thanks for your review and opinion. 👍🏼

Bargain? It's $20 a bottle for basic aftershave. I have several of them from back when they were $15 and that was even a stretch. I do enjoy them, however, I will not be restocking them at that price point. Good product but just not providing the value for what you pay. Now, I would be curious to see some reviews on their EDTs.

Fine has a good scent line. And the scents last longer than a lot of others. That’s what I like. You should do Tallow and Steel. I think their Aftershaves have good skin food and great scents.

I have to respectfully disagree with the score of 65 on this one. This is an aftershave and without a lot of junk ingredients. It’s not trying to be skin food or a AS lotion. It’s trying to be a traditional. Those with a more oily skin type often don’t want or need that, especially in the summer. Old Spice, Aqua Velva, Avon, and Pinaud can’t be wrong and shouldn’t be on the floor level just because their traditional, simple, and not loaded with butters. Just my perspective. Keep up the great reviews!!

The problem with all Fine aftershaves is that there are no skin conditioners in them. Pinaud products are much better in that respect. Smell better too.
