Our last days in Scotland. We explore a bit more of Fingal, visit the Royal Yacht Britannia and spend the day at the Christmas Market in Edinburgh City Centre.
Gosh I am home sick came to Canada with my family in 1966 was home in 2018 to take my mom and dad's ashes back and went to the Tattoo. Wish that they had Christmas markets like Scotland and Germany in Canada.Merry Christmas to you both.
Such a pleasant couple. Watching your travel videos is one of the most relaxing things I can think of doing in the evenings. Beautiful music, food, and scenery.
It's always a pleasure to watch your videos. I love how you put them together, very professional and yet relaxed with a personal touch. Thank you for taking time during your break to make this for the RU-vid community. Have a great Christmas and may the New year bring you more adventures to share. Vik
Nice informative video once again. Watching the engine room and viewing the ship's log book and messages must have been exciting. Food looked tempting too especially the fish...
Another great vlog Christmas Market looked so nice , never been to Edinburgh it's on my to do list, look forward to thevnext vlog have a wonderful Christmas 🎄
I love the tour of Britannia!! My brother and his wife had dinner on Britannia during her last trip to Canada in 1997 when the Prince of Wales used her for an official visit. The footage of Edinburgh is beautiful! Happy New Year from Vermont
I’m really enjoying your videos. Watching your Iona series has encouraged us to do a cruise on her soon . Excellent videoing and interesting commentary throughout.
Hi guys what a great vlog it really put us in the Christmas spirit. Might try finger in the future as it's close to our home in the scottish borders have a lovely Christmas and looking forward to the next vlog in the new year. Colin and Katie.
Just watched your 2 vlogs on fingal , me and the wife were so impressed we’ve booked the Gretna hall hotel and fingal for 9th and 10th of December this year can’t wait, love watching all your vlogs keep up the good work 👍👍
I enjoyed watching your stay aboard Fingal, it looks very comfortable and I'm glad you had an enjoyable Christmas break in Edinburgh and the Borders. Funnily enough I spend several nights on board MV Fingal when it was still a working Lighthouse ship, when we travelled from Oban to the Isle of Man via Holy Isle (off Arran); my father was a lighthouse keeper and we (father, mother, me) were travelling to the IoM for his job, we spent 5 years approx living there. Our stop-off at Holy Isle was to drop off another couple who would be living there for a few years too. Our arrival into the IoM was into Ramsey (rather than Douglas) and our car, which had travelled with us, was craned off the ship, so we simply drove the few miles to our new home. Happy memories. You mentioned also Britannia - I hope you enjoyed your visit if you did manage to get to it, I visited it in Edinburgh some years ago too and found it extremely interesting, although for me it was a return visit as I had been aboard it when it was also still a working vessel for a cocktail party, during the night it spent in Jeddah on its way back home from Bahrain where HM had been on a State Visit. She was no longer aboard during my visit. I was quite friendly with a couple from the British embassy (embassies were still in Jeddah, rather than Riyadh, in those days) and they kindly invited me as their guest, so that was an unusual insight into the yacht's working life.
Wow that's amazing! Bet Fingal was a little different back then though!? We really enjoyed HMY Britannia too, really interesting. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Really interested in your review, would like to sample the delights of Edinburgh ourselves in the near future. Fond memories of the Royal Yacht as I was a welder employed on her in 1987 refit at Plymouth dockyard. Very best wishes to you both for Christmas and the New Year. We hope there are many more videos to come soon.
I woked in Leith in the 70s we were unloading sulphur and phosphate not far from where the hotel is. It may sound bad but these were good days -good people It is nice to see that there are good times for tourists there now
We have been avid watchers of your videos and vlogs since 2016. Thank you for the pleasure of you have given us over these last five years. We look forward to 2022 and your future vlogs. A very Happy New Year to you both 🥳🥂🍾

I shouldn’t have watched this one either. 😂 I’ve been to Edinburgh but not the Britannia. My husband has been to it. The Xmas market looks nice. The carousel was beautiful.
I'm vaguely familiar with Lieth, but not familiar where the Fingal is berthed. Was looking for Britannia to sight from, but couldn't see it. Someone has certainly poured a lot of money into Fingal, she's certainly looking superb. Would have been nice if you could have included a little of her history.
Hi my dears. I'm going on this ship hotel in August 1st for 2 nights .your vlog was excellent. Is it easy to find nice restaurants near .how much is the taxi into city and how far is it from the ship. Cheers both of you. Stay safe x
Cab took about 20mins and was roughly £10-20. The tram that runs right past Fingal is fully operational now, which is probably a good option. The track was still under construction during our visit.
You said that you were going to go from Fingal into Edinburgh. You were, in fact, already in Edinburgh. Leith, where Fingal is berthed, is not separate from the city. It is a suburb of Edinburgh and has been since 1920.
