Growing up I never really cared for blues that much. The more I listen to it the more I realize that so much of rock and roll was written from it. The more I study guitar the more I see so much blues in our music. The song your playing is cool, reminds me of a train coming down the tracks in the south!
Tomo, every time I see you you bring a smile to my face. Not just for your guitar skills but for your personality and disposition. Thanks, I needed it today.
Woke up this morning and tomo's playing the blues Woke up this morning and tomo's playing the blues Oh lordy sweet mama Got some more practicing to do!!
Ok - it’s highly addictive! I normally just strum the blues, with an occasional stray note or two… but for the last two weeks I’ve spent probably an hour of two each day playing this way and meandering around the pentatonics - all over the place. My ‘safe-space’ seems to have enlarged somewhat! And you’re still giving me ideas…………..
Hey Tomo, thanks for your first video of 2023! I Love Acoustic fingerpicking, and have listened to a lot of Lightnin’ Hopkins! It’s a terrific style! Where Blues guitar playing got its start! Thanks Again!
Thanks for your insightful videos! I just signed up for your Guitar Wisdom site, I am hungry to learn to play guitar better and I'm sure I'll find your lessons very valuable! I think I'll achieve my goals better with your videos.
This is very basic blues guitar playing which I can play. I’m not being boastful because I’ve played for 60 years. But how I wish somebody could have taught me to play it in this way all those years ago instead of working it out myself by just listening to records over and over again. New players are very lucky to have a teacher like you to start off with…..and what a beautiful guitar! 👍🍷
Thanks for sharing. Pretty simple but not everyone knows all the details so I made it. I kept very simple. Normally I would go a little more fills & more notes... Good job! Thank you so much!
@@TomoFujitaMusic …..no no…please don’t misunderstand me….simple is good! Everybody needs to start somewhere and to have a clear lesson like yours on how to play a good, simple blues is invaluable. Once you can play this well you can go on to explore more complex blues progressions….and continue into jazz (Ted Greene etc) if you enjoy it. Your idea of building up from the basic stuff is great and will really help new players to develop, improve, and appreciate the blues. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much Tomo, for your lesson. You have enlightened me, I'm so grateful for you! I've been working on this for a long time. Finally I think the light has come on . I look forward to following you & your tutorials. Again, Thank you & Take Care!
Thank Tomo for another great lesson. I have been trying to learn finger style blues but struggling with keeping the steady bass in time. I would love to see some lessons and tips on this from you.
@@billoost9389 Don't worry! Instagram, Twitter is easy to show your thing to others & tag people so it's possible to notify & spread the news etc. Each formant does own fun thing.
That's a great lesson and as I'm currently working on The "Stones" blues song "Parachute Woman" a lot of the licks are right there. I learned the gb to g#b bend a long time ago as the train sound.
Thank you very much for your lesson tomo I love your fingerstyle blues lessons they are really helpful and much appreciated!! Happy new year my friend!! I also love your double stop lessons as I have some trouble there anyway take care !! Brian Ireland 🇮🇪
Thank you Tomo for gracing us with your teachings! I am a brand new guitar player and I’ve binge watched your videos since I’ve discovered you. Your easy going style is fun to watch and encouraging. Keep up the great work!
Amazing sound. It's too funny - i have been thinking a lot about fingerstyle blues and possibly buying a Gibson J45. Then I thought, let's see if Tomo-San has any videos on it. And HERE YOU ARE!
Thank you! I almost bought a 1965 J45.. then a 1955 J-45... but the one was too clean, the other one was a too played! So I skipped... Glad that I waited. This (LG-1) is Dan Erlewine's influence!
I save everything you send my way.... I appreciate it Sir..😎 I am sorry but I got hung up on those frets on your Gibson.... they look flawless from my view.... I will go back and do this ....😎 I have a old injury on my pointer finger it was severed but saved because my brother packed in snow and brought it to the Hospital....boy I went there but anyway it works better as years have went by ,,, That's why I try more finger picking....😎 never quit right... I know I ramble so.. Lols
One of my resolutions was to pick up the acoustic more. Always putting off learning finger style, but this lesson has given me the inspiration to put the time in. Thank you sir. Happy New Year.

Tomo sensei, so nice! I practiced triads with interval naming convention because of you. Could you explain your videos using intervals and triads instead fret numbers. Please sensei 🙇♂

Really enjoyed watching this video! Just love your blues style. Would like a bit more information on the finger picking, but I can’t wait to try out the sliding technique. I’m a 75 year old beginner who just loves finger style and would love to play gospel music.
Mr Fujita, I am self taught, been watching your videos for about a year now. I find myself getting lost frequently! I have been interested in subscribing to Guitar Wisdom, and was wondering if a self taught player such as myself could correct bad technique and start from the beginning with the service and information? I really enjoy watching your videos and I’ve learned from them not to compare or expect to quickly. Thank you for all you do, and any advice related to my question in advance! Yours, Aaron
Thanks for sharing. Please join my Guitar Wisdom. You will not lose there! You can really learn things deeply. You can fix you bad techniques. You can enjoy "Beginner series" "Foundation" section. @@TomoFujitaMusic Thank you for reinforcing my decision to join! I’m excited to understand where I’ve been lacking, and build good understanding and technique! I will check back on future videos with progress updates!
Hey tomo, and ideas for if you were to do a video on Blues Guitar for playing as a duo, but also to this as an introduction to blues duo for beginners?
Hey Tomo, first of all your LG-1 looks super clean and sounds amazing. Second of all thank you very much for this lesson, I just got myself an acoustic guitar and this lessons helped me. I'm a big supporter of your mantra, don't worry, don't compare, don't expect too fast. be kind to yourself. and I wanted to ask if one can buy one of those light signs? I wish you all the best, Jakob from Vienna
Thank you so much Mr. Tomo I will be studying all of your beginner lessons I appreciate you making these so much! I do have a question would it be fine if I learned this on my electric guitar? As I don't have an acoustic guitar at the moment.
Tomo I’ve been a long time viewer of your amazing videos! I don’t usually comment, but this was a great lesson and I’m having so much fun playing it over and over again! Near the end of the video, you were mentioning on adding more complexity to turn the lightning Hopkins version into your own. I wanted to ask, would it be possible to make a follow up guitar lesson video if you ever have the chance and make a more advanced version of this from using the beginner Hopkins roots like you said in the video, and maybe incorporate a little bit of Tomo/SRV/Clapton spice (an example would be Clapton drifting blues) But this is so great! I feel ready for the next level!
So happy to hear that. Thanks so much for your comment! Normally I play around this and I change slightly every time I play...I may play more chords... more phrases.. but in order to teach this well... I had to learn my own playing and made it super simple not play anything I would play! So that's why most people can get it. I still want to show how to play finger picking blues like this ... keep it super simple. I have many ideas after that! SRV, Hendrix, Clapton, myself.. we owe so much Lighnin' Hopkins!
Hey Tomo:) i love ur videos and I would say you’re top 3 inspirations for me as a guitarist; I’ve been playing about a year now:) The number one inspiration for me is this band called Her’s. I would love to see your reaction to one of their videos especially live:) they are my greatest inspiration for getting past the hump of playing guitar. I would love to see what you have to say about their style i feel it is very unique and different and a real shame they aren’t here anymore. I want their legacy alive still. Thank you for your amazing content:)
Mr. Fujita, thank you for sharing this great lesson. Always so much fun to learn with you. Also, nice video, you were very funny. I had to laugh at some points. So thanks for your great humor as well. Transcending! I wish you all the best and that you accomplish your goals in this fresh 2023 and always. Enough, I'm outa here... ✌️😅 oh, see you on Guitar Wisdom. Everybody, subscribe! 😸
Hi Tomo. Thank you for the lesson. Do you have tabs for it? When you got close to the camera I couldn't see your right hand for some of the strings you were picking at one part. Thanks, Brian
Hi Tomo really getting into your videos on u tube thank you,I would like to ask does it matter what stage my playing is at and what position your guitar wisdom is up to if I decide to join, also if at any time I need too leave your course is it easy to cancel subscription and then at anytime re join ? 🥵Oh Mr. Fujita this is a hard one to feel. I’m getting it though. Can you give me some names of some blues guitarists to listen to? I use Spotify. I need to listen to this style more. Thank you.
