That’s the Finglas that I knew and loved, born there in 1969 and spent the best years of my life there too, some of the finest people I ever knew came from there, good friends and good neighbours,I miss it as it was then,as I’m mid 50’s now I yearn back for those happier carefree times,we had very little but we had family.
The eu and un, you gotta be kiddin, they don't give a flying shit about anyone but themselves. If only the fuckin Paddy's would see this but too many of us are suffering from some form of mental retardation. Covid1984 anyone?
A moment captured in time, literally light jsut captured in a camera and recorded, but what is a camera? A mysterious device which has existed for a sliver of the earths existence. Such strange times, everything is strange!
A moment captured in time, literally light jsut captured in a camera and recorded, but what is a camera? (JUST LOVE YOUR COMMENT). I took this video all those years ago, it lay on a shelf for 35 years until facebook came along ....so I got to post it. so glad you enjoyed it.
I used to live opposite the Janelle center above the creamery that is now apartments. Manys a folk would sniff at Finglas but it was 1000 times better than the tenaments.
Yeah on the ball there broke me bollix a couple of times on that coursebook Premier Dairies seen my first film in Janelle too.. BATMAN still the best one imo anyhow good memories mate
The BMX course wow thats going back fall off your bike and lose a half stone on the gravel picking stones and glass out your hands and legs for weeks after it 🤣🤣👍🏻
Left my car in there; to get a rattle checked out; went back next day, nothing done, told me it was just that it was an old car. charged me 40 euro after telling me they did nothing; like they were laughing at me; they need to be SHUT DOWN
My son was born in 1985 and lived with his mother's family on Casement Road, which I don't think is there on the video, but close enough. Fairly sure that green area on it's east side was bigger and the bypass wasn't there then; so they must have cut a swathe through it. We were at his Christening I think in that modern church you passed, or very nearby. I was a Corkonian but lived in Terenure and Ranelagh for 10 years until 1987 and been in London since. Before then, between 82 - '85, I took buses passed there on maybe North Road and then walked or hitch - hiked to take 5 flying lessons total on the then rural West side of the Airport to what was Iona Airways where I think the Tower is now. Sorry for the soppy story. Memories, huh. Thanks for the video. Looks about right, though I rarely went west of Casement Road.🙃
The weirdest thing about this video is that the colours are really good cos it's sunny, so the whole thing looks almost recent. And all the houses are the same. But the busses, shops and horses are all gone. And there's less grot nowadays
sorry I skipped your house Sean But parts of the original video had to be edited out because of the bumping up and down in the car, better cameras these days,
