We walk you through another shed dealer, Lone Star, BUT this one includes a FINISHED “shed to house” thecrockerhomestead thecrockerhomestead www.patreon.com/thecrockerhomestead Intro music by Sunset Silhouette
Me and my husband did too! As much as it costs to live now a days...it wouldn't be a bad idea. And as sucky and as expensive as health insurance is, we could pay off all our medical bills.
I bought my new Cotton state barn 12 by 32 with front porch. I finished it out myself. $11, 724 shed and, material cost Total. Yes I live in it very happily. Roll Tide:)
@@flewjewcoop5308 ] The American dream, according to me. Loving God*/Christ Jesus* with my whole heart, and loving my neighbor. Paying my own bills, and loving my family. I don,t look at what a man lives in, but what I really do is. I listen to what comes out of his mouth. That speaks volumes of knowledge or ignorance. Enjoy Yourself
We built our own shed to house... it'll be fully paid off in 2 years. No more mortgage or rent payments. Smartest thing we ever did! Also... We're only 33 years old
I love this last one. Although I worked construction for many years, I'm no longer able to build or life much due to a broken neck. This building would be perfect for me as I get older. For the livingroom, i would either go with a Murphy bed or do a custom twin size bed that I'd make more on the order of a daybed. This would give me a good mattress to sleep on and when it's made up with a few extra pillows can be a couch during the day. This would leave enough room for a nice rocker recliner , a coffee table and an entertainment center. I'd try to find space for a couple of pullout clothes racks behind the day bed and it would have a couple drawers on the other side with another pullout clothes rack ( for jackets) and on each end of the the daybed I'd have pull out drawers under the head and foot of the bed/couch. This would be easily made out of skids. Only problem is finding a place where this would be legal to live in....
@@TheCrockers I have lived the last 10 years in SE Texas.... plenty of places to put this on in Texas. I'm from Ohio... much more restrictive than Texas.
I love the shed to home concept when the prices are below $7,500. Super affordable living for a non debit free life. But I always wondered about how you would put plumbing in these units. Don't local laws dictate that you have a septic tank in the ground? Not sure how all that works.
I want one !!! The finished one for me is best I'm a old sick woman fighting for my disability benefits...but if I had known thirty years ago that I would become sick and unable to work I would have put all my money into a small piece of land and bought one of these. I wish the finished one also had a loft but other then that its perfect. I may have tried to cut some costs.. Less expensive tolit, counters, smaller shower but otherwise perfect and I wish I could go back into time and set "re-do" I'm currently living in a mobile home thats paid but is in serious need of repairs that isent worth the money even if I had it and I'm stuck paying 500 a month for lot space. Its cheap "rent" compared to most other places but I'm stuck here and I'm too sick to change anything. So if anyone reads this and your a young adult...I say... " GO FOR IT " !!!!!!!! GOD BLESS EVERYONE
Disabled 50 yr old woman in an apartment and I Soooo much agree with you. Wish I could do a redo and buy a small place like this shed to home idea. Best of luck to you
Keep fighting for it! And I do think that you are owed back payments when you do get it. Y need to call a lawyer, it's free until you get your case approved and then they work with you on payments. You paid for the ability to collect disability when you worked for all those years.
Kudos for the video content! Sorry for butting in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you tried - *WoodBlueprints. Com* It is a great one of a kind guide for building better sheds and woodworking without the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my cousin finally got astronomical success with it.?
I was looking at sheds like these last fall, for a 3 season room. These are beautiful. If I was a young person I would totally consider living tiny - even if only to save for several years towards a more conventional home. I know my boys would love a cottage, and I would look to buy land and go this route 'til you can afford a bigger structure. Heck - you're outside 80% of the time anyway - you just need somewhere to bath, sleep, cook and get away from rain and bugs. The best home is a mortgage-free home.
This would be a great alternative in cities that need emergency housing. An area could be set up as tiny house city. With rows of these houses to get people off of the streets.
TheStevenbennett true, I live in Ohio so finding a cheap fixer upper wouldn’t be too hard. However looked like she’s in Texas. Depending where at finding a cheap house is next to impossible. So this would be the cheapest option if you like in a state or city where any house is going to be beyond most people’s budget. So in a large city a 100,000+ house isn’t possible but a 40,000 might be the next option
Most people cant.... I think thats the point there, Capt. Obvious. However people are tired of paying 120,000 for your "remoddeled" 34k house.Thats the same shit that fucking tanked this country to begin with..... and the banks that funded it..... Doof. Do you flip houses to scam people? I'll pay you 50 at the most.

I'd love to get a shed, do all the work over time in my grandparents back yard (I'm currently in college living with them) then when it's finished, look into the land to ground it to
That last one - the finished shed....AMAZING!!! I can see a beautiful murphy bed in that unit. PLEASE don't say Pull-Out Couch....those things freaking hurt!! Don't say Futon...those are the same as a pull out couch. Murphy Beds are awesome! You put a great mattress on it and some comfy sheets....and it all gets tucked away (if you want) when you have company to open up the floor. I would put a stackable washer/dryer where you said the fridge goes...and a fridge where you said the stove/oven goes. I would either get a nice double electrical burner for my countertops, a big toaster/oven and have one kick-ass grill outside. My husband couldn't believe the price of the finished shed. You can't find those prices here in South FL.
Y'all need to move to TEXAS! Amazing prices and tons of land with no restrictions! Sounds like you've got a good eye for a house to customize to your needs!
@RunningKicksButt - I agree. Been there with both. If I was to get one just for myself I could do a single murphy bed and still have plenty of room for myself. No plans to move to Tx, though.
We made two modern offices in our backyard with Tuff Shed. With the help of Home Depot representative, I designed the buildings. Both are insulated with electricity. All permitted by county.
I love the last one. It's awesome! I don't like the galvanized part. Especially if it was in my country. The galvanized roof would get too hot. I would have made the porch a bit wider. So, that people can sit outside as a bigger space. In my country people inclose the porches with bars and hang out outside. What we call a gallery not porch. But, its just wonderful. I would live in a home like that.
I really appreciate y'all sharing this with us. I love your channel! I too will keep the debt free tiny home community living dream alive. Thanks again.
I really appreciate you all taking the time to make these videos, they are informative and fun. I just ordered my shed and will be converting to a house too :) Your videos show that it can be done and done nicely. Thanks!
I absolutely love the idea of tiny house living. I totally see the vision here. Thanks for the inspiration for people who desire home ownership without that 30 year mortgage perhaps!!
Great video content! Apologies for butting in, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you thought about - *WoodBlueprints. Com* It is an awesome exclusive guide for building better sheds and woodworking without the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate at very last got astronomical success with it.?
Thank you and the owner for the tours. For the past 10 yrs, I've known that this is the way that I want to go. The problem is finding land in VA and the codes. Love the last one, but I need some storage, a separate bedroom and a wider porch. All doable, though. And, btw, I love you guys. You're helping me out a lot. 💗
Hey Crockers! I liked the finished shed - LOVED the upper level windows to let in all the light!! I've never seen that in another shed build either. Also loved the soft close drawers, slides, and cabinets. I would change the layout a bit though. Where the kitchen is I'd put a small bedroom so you can close it off when company's over, change the kitchen to a more open version in the main part of the house and since it's a "tiny" house you'd just have a sofa and maybe use a bookshelf/murphy bed set-up for a guest bed. Just maybe how I'd change it up a little. Good video! Wende
My Aunt and uncle sold there farm and moved to Nials Canyon California where Charly Chaplain once lived and made film's there. They had a custom tiny home built made for disable bathroom shower you could roll a wheelchair in. In hers front room she had windows like that let plenty of light in the front room it was a 3 bed room home I kinda remember the bed rooms not being to small. It was built in a trailer park but a very well kept it had a community swimming pool and a nice size hall if you had a large crowd of guest people can meet in the hall. $30 grand is really not that much money for a already built home and easy to maintain paint roof dusting it could always add on to it with a 2 car garage and build a room on top of the garage just add a stair case and a door to get in the garage. There is a small home next door to my home that looks like it could have been a trailer at one time they just put siding on it with a porch and built a one car garage with a low ceiling room on top of it. The last person that ownd the house had raised the roof on the up stairs room.
I would like a 10x14 bedroom on the porch end..then make a front door maybe where the kitchen window is or farther over to the living room with a gabled porch
I can’t think of the shed cabin company we used. They are out of Kentucky. We did a 16x 32. And that space is plenty for a downstairs bedroom. A good size bathroom with a tub and the remaining space is our kitchen and den. It’s plenty for two people. I am disabled and that is why we did a bedroom downstairs. But there are two lofts in ours. Thank you ! Leslye
I think before you buy, you should consider a real modular home. You can get way more house for the money and it's all approved. For a real shed to house you should limit the expenditure to 20K. For 50 K you can get 2 baths, and 3 bedrooms etc... 240 sq feet all finished is about max for under 20K. In 5 years you'll wished maybe you thought more into the future, maybe?
Certainly, they are advertising for them, surely they get some kind of kickback! Maybe you could also give pointers on various building supplies; insulation, sturdiness, tongue in Grove opposed to other methods, and how efficient is the Air/Heating? Thank you for sharing your videos!!
I wish I’d known about these types of options before I bought my house… I seriously would’ve considered it, along with those huge storage containers ideas.
Very cool...my wife and I did something very similar to what your doing (Winslow's) but I wish that we would have looked around a bit more. I would go with the last one and get the base model and finish it out yourself the way you want. We live about 15 minutes from Greenville. God bless.
Yeah we bought our barn from Winslow's, but didn't think their sheds were as good as Derksen. But now that we found Lone Star, we might go with them for our future building. We're all learning, and learning from our mistakes. Maybe we could meet up someday and chat shed to houses!
Your shed looks great! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! I built an 8x10 shed for my kids in my backyard earlier this year using plans I got from *WoodBlueprints. Com* Clear directions and an accurate materials list...It was great for a novice builder like myself!
I would like to hear your "professional opinion" on what constitutes "a shed" and "a house." I'll wait. By the way dont alienate yourself with your privileged white answer.
Seems good so far! Was easy to talk to about his My Shed Plans [Go Here=> *WoodBlueprints. Com* ]. Guided me in the right direction & helped me understand everything & in the end it was what I wanted
There are tons of Lonestar Shed facilities around East Texas. I am thinking about shopping at one of the locations near me. This company seems to have very high-end quality buildings.
I'm loving how detailed you are in these videos. I'm considering going this route for a cabin and you explain it well enough but simple enough that I can keep up. Just wish there were more options for places to buy similar buildings in northern Michigan
I'm surprised they are charging $4k for the mini split system with only one head. I bought one 6 months ago that's an 18,000 instead of the 12,000 in that one, and I have 3 heads and my complete system was only $2,400 total, and I think the kitchen at $4,900 was a bit steep also but everything else was good. It looks like they did an extremely nice job with all of their finishes. Thank you for sharing
If only they added an extra 6 feet to that last building, 6x12 bedroom then walk into the bathroom from the bedroom.. a house needs a bedroom. Who want to sleep In livingroom. That would sell like hot cakes. Thanks for the tour
Thank you, let's do this together.... Y'all were awesome... I'm a momma who babies have flew the coop.... I'm looking and Im a liking. Thank you two. GOD BLESS Y'ALL.
Wow! I really like that last shed to pad. I think it looks like it would be perfect for me and my best friend (with the waggily tail). It's beautiful and sturdy, nice doors n stuff, and it even has a tub. I really like it. If I could find somewhere nice to put it id be in heaven. Somewhere I could have a little grassy back yard with a few pretty plants and flowers then I'd be set. I would love to build a wall of some kind around the whole perimeter for privacy and security and so I could chill in my little back patio, light a little bonfire at night and just sit and watch the stars. Aside from finding a good man to share my everything with, I just't imagine what more I could ever want... except for maybe a garage/work shed, but that's alright i'm sure I could get used to not having a that. Well worth it to be debt free.
If you have construction experience like i do you can build that for 1/2 price with no permit if you put skids under it like they have at least in SC you can
@@jimmyjolly4184 what are skids? Just cereous. I know in diffrent State's town's city's it different codes on what you can put on your own land. In California if it's off the ground on cement block's it's not considered a permanent structures if it's on foundation then you have many different codes you have to abide by. Permits Permits very expensive.
@@snoopu2601 skids are 2 4×6 mounted under floor joist running the lenth of building to pull the building up on a trailer or rollback truck for transportation

Thank you for sharing! We are looking to build our own shed home on our current land & do away with our single wide (really is more room than we need & we want more room for a homestead). So far finding fully converted ideas has been difficult. I love the last design!
Hi Jason,, Questions about the radiant barrier. I did some research and it seems it's mostly used in attics. In your video it's all over the sheds, why is that ? Also would you install this before installation? Sorry if the questions seem silly, My daughter and I are finishing out my cabin by ourselves and we are not builders! Lol we are learning as we go! Love your videos!
I'm not an expert by any means, but I've been in buildings that only had it on the roof... and these buildings with it on the walls also Made a HUGE difference! I've never put it on myself, so I'm not really sure when and how to install it. I'm sure there has to be a video on it somewhere!
It is also called "reflectix", and acts as an excellent vapor barrier. It makes a huge difference. I swear by it, and have used it under floors, walls, etc.
$30 grand is not that much for a almost finished home's $100 grand you can have a small town built. I watch this retired school teacher build a whole western town in his back yard with barber shop, store, saloon hotel on the top floor, stable for small pony chickens, sheriff office with jail he built all that in 8 year's made from scrap wood that would have been through away. They guy past away I'm sure you can watch it on RU-vid.
Thank you very much for showing us a tour of options of having these small home's. I do like a big porch option with 1 bedroom big bathroom and a living room.
Awesome tour, thank you ! I would love the one that is completely finished, with a little work it really could be a cosy little shed to home. The only thing is that I live in Sc and I have not seen buildings that were that well made and especially at those prices.
The radiant barrier is one of the main reason we live these sheds. It makes a massive difference in temperature in the winter and especially in the summer. Living in Texas in crazy heat, that’s a big deal. We wanted to make sure we made that point. Glad we did.

Well these do come in a centrally giant lego sets where you can put them together or have the company put them together for you if you tried to build a house from scratch you better be a carpenter
I already have a triple wide manufactured home, but I have a shed out front I want to turn into a "man cave". I'm getting some pretty good ideas from your videos. Thanks.
I like the full decked out shed. It has a full bathroom. Some apartments in New York, Florida, and California are more expensive than this and it has more space!
I like the Murphy Bed idea with a couple built in bookcases on each side, sliding door to resemble the wall so when not being used it's hidden in plain sight kind of look. I don't know exactly how they work, but I've seen a bookcase that comes out a bit then pivots so it's like having 2 bookcases in 1. Great idea/project for tiny house living. You have to be creative when you design in small areas. Idea just popped in my head, check out treehouse designs. I used to watch Treehouse Master's, it was so cool. Some cost crazy money
Thank you! I’m moving back to South Texas and we have one of these on our ranch in Missouri. We finished it out and it’s just awesome. We’re putting another one one our hunting ranch here on the lake. 350 acres of paradise. Full of white tail and turkey. Unfortunately I spent more time the past couple of years hunting poachers then anything else. I did however score five really nice tree stands. A brand new blind. I game camera. All on the first day. So, if you know of anyone needing any of these items. I’ll fire sale the entire lot. 😁
I've always tried to figure out how to build a shed for my kids. I tried several plans but always got stuck along the way. I'm glad I found this Ryan's shed plans [ Go Here >>> *WoodBlueprints. Com* ]. It has made the work become as easy and simple as I never thought it will be. Thank you Ryan!?
I’ve been wanting to go look at sheds but I’m 6 months pregnant and busy. Thanks! I just found you 3 tonight and shared some links and they subbed too. You guys (and gal) are covering alot of content other channels don’t. Your work is beautiful and practical. Thanks again.
Yay, new baby on the way! Congrats! And that's why we do these videos... we looked ourselves and never found the info we needed. So we figured we'd do the footwork and hopefully help others... so we're glad it is!
Love the finished plan. I personally prefer this layout to one that has the bedroom separate. This way gives you a much bigger living area, which is great if you're going to be in there by yourself. Thanks for posting.
We think the same! No need to lose space for a bedroom in something that small. These aren't meant for family's... Maybe a couple, but going solo is best!
Thank you so much for this video. I've been thinking about getting a she-shed. Didn't know what to look for, how much they go for or my options. Thank you again
We built our own house out of a shed, if you're interested in checking that out. We have a ton of videos on our page, and we'll be posting a video this weekend on the finished bedroom and bathroom!
Hello Crocker's Jaylena Jason, and Jared hope y'all are doing well. Lots of great information it my dream in my older age to live tiny and go back to the country. Much love and big Tx hugs from South Tx.
