Thank you for posting this cup lesson. I have learned so much from this. I am totally inspired now to make a pinch pot mug. I'm hoping that you do a glazing demo for these cups next.

Your work has been so clear and informative. I teach ceramics a part of a general sculpture class. You have helped me with professional development and I use your videos as a tutorial for my students. Thank you,

Great work and instruction. I mainly watched to see which tools you used to carve your designs. Would have been appreciated if you held up the tool being used to the camera, for the newbie :) Cheers

Ahhhh! Thanks for the suggestion- sorry about that! You can use the googledoc with links which I have in the video description... that can take you right to Amazon to see the tools I am talking about! :)

I love the designs in the mugs. And the handles, too. Do you have a video for making these types of handles?

Absolutely loved this mug you did , your very creative with designs, can I ask what clay do you use here , I have a terracotta clay I processed myself and not really happy with it , your clay looks very nice.👍

Now I understand why using a sponge with groggy clay isn't a good idea. Every video says: become it makes the grog come to the surface. What? Grog travels to meet the sponge? But is is because the small particles are removed. Makes completely sense.

I like this video and thank you for sharing. I did find the sound quality very quiet though.

What is the purpose of adding grog?
@KaransPotsAndGlass

Hi Stephanie- Prepared clays are made both with or without grog. Grog gives the Clay more porosity, which allows it to dry with less cracking. Grog also helps to add strength when building larger pieces!

Im new to clay, how long do vessels stay leather hard for? What type of clay do you recommend for someone wanting to make one of these at home? Thank you :)

Hi Kelsey- that is an impossible question to answer without clarification. It is all in the way you store your items. I mean, I have kept pieces leatherhard indefinitely. If you keep things under plastic, and occasionally rewet with damp towels, that will keep it leatherhard. I keep a damp bin in fact- which is a plastic bin with a few inches of plaster in the bottom. I just add water to the plaster occasionally if i feel it is drying out. Then, I can keep greenware in the lidded bin on the damp plaster for months! Of course, if you leave something uncovered overnight it can go to bonedry from leatherhard in hours. Just be attentive to your clay and how you cover it! :) . I often use heavy towels to drape over it as it dries- to control the moisture a bit more.

hmmmm... not too sure why??? Is there any specific part you have trouble? I've never noticed a sound issue with this one...
