Me too, isn’t that how things go? You do all that work and discover you’re missing that small but oh so necessary item. Well, maybe you can get them when you go into town next. I’m looking forward to your picture wall, what’s going to dress that up? And yes, you need a wee table for your cup of tea and book next to your chair.
Rosie Girl, you never cease to amaze me! 🥰 I'm old enough (and then some) to be your Mom, and I am SO proud of you!!! Your successful creativity with making your overalls is great. Your walking into town left ME a bit tired, as I've had three hip replacements, and 7 back surgeries. I'll be happy to enjoy YOUR walks, tho!! I was worried that your poor face would get frost nip in those temperatures. I could see you making that walk with a beautiful German Shepherd romping in the snow by your side!! I LOVE how you are doing your art wall! What a wonderful idea!! I especially LOVE your tranquil location, your beautiful bowing evergreens with the snow. Those views just make my heart sing!! Reminds me so much of better times in my life. Your cozy book nook reminds me so much of my Mom and Dad. We were raised without tv or radio distractions, so books became our friends. They had acquired many thousands of books through their nearly 75 years together. My Mom passed away in 2022, at 91 years old, and My Dad passed away just before Thanksgiving 2023, at 94. I have been blessed beyond measure, to have gotten many boxes of their books, even tho I already have thousands of my own in my personal library. I will be building more book shelf units, so appreciate you inspiring me to get back into my DIY groove! You are an absolute gem! You are a blessing to your parents! I love your capable, pioneering, independent, self sufficient, positive, can-do attitude! Wrestling that door through the door and up the stairs was impressive! I really do SO appreciate your videos! The perfect piano music, the beautiful snow on the tall trees, the crunch of frigid snow, the flames in the stove, the sound of the saw, your pleasant voice. They all feed my spirit! You are in my prayers, and I pray that your year is filled with joy, memory making, and abundant blessings! Thank you, Rosie!! Youre the BEST!!!🥰🤗😊🙏 From Napoleon, Missouri, USA
I think having more room in you coveralls is a good thing that way you can bend and stretch with out splitting your pants or getting bound up. I think they turned out marvelous. They might even shrink after washing. Thank you for showing us your daily adventures outside . So beautiful. Be happy and stay safe.❤❤😊
A tip, take your 🛷 (pulka) to the end of “your” road, hide it behind some trees while you’re taking the bus and then when you come back you don’t have to carry everything 🤗
Love the library. I'm sure your art wall will be beautiful. Love your "dry" sense of humor. Thought I was going to die with "if only I had light bulbs."
I'm not totally understand what she's saying, because my knowledge of english still not very high, but I guess she receive box with lamp and box don't include bulbs, and now she needs to go (again) to next town/village to buys bulbs. Am I right?) In that case, boxs of lamps never include bulbs, as I know.
It’s easy to forget to grab things at the store. For most people we can just drive back but for her she has a long walk ahead of her. To me it’s very relatable to realize you’re missing that one last thing you need to finish a project because it slipped your mind.
I really wish that when people watch they would first hit the like button so they don't forget. Please people! Rosie doesn't ask so I will. Great work Rosie. How I miss you when you aren't on. Thank you for being such an inspiration.
Rosie, Rosie, it looks so cozy! And that end line... "if only I had light bulbs." I think that sums up your videos for me... making a cozy home, always having some calamity, and taking it all with good humour, and letting us laugh along with you... while admiring your achievements!
I’m 74 and I lived in the snowy mountains for years. I love seeing your walks to the store. I never had a bus to get to the store so struggling with backpacks full of food brings back many memories. It is peaceful and beautiful walking home and you know at the end a warm drink awaits.❤
It IS so hard to get out of that chair!!!!!! I am 84 years old, in a nursing home and have cancer again. The final time. I won't do anything this time. I can't get out of that chair. Ugg. I understand but you have inspired me. Do something different! And that is what I will do. I am an artist. I need to make something different. I am off. Here I go.
Hello, from Vermont, USA 🇺🇸. I am 81, live in a senior housing apartment….Both you and this amazing young woman have inspired me. I used to do decorative painting…hopefully will start again. Please give us an update on how you are doing, especially with your health struggles. Wishing you all good things…❤
I’m so grateful to have found you last night. For some reason I got really teary. Watching you stirred a longing in me to live in a similar way. Your experience is touching me on so many levels. To see the delicacy in hard work. Your gentle pace. And the satisfaction of creating beauty and function. Reminded me of Lao Tzu’s quote, “Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished”.
Also thinking of you lugging heavy oat milk back from the market…or running out. Maybe you already know but it’s insanely easy to make at home. Not to mention a fraction of the cost! ☺️ Just oats, cold water, salt, vanilla in a blender and strained. I use hemp seeds instead of oats for nutritional benefits and personally love the taste even better. 🤷🏻♀️🥰
The music you choose is absolutely perfect for what you show us. That Japanese saw looks like it is amazing. The detail you give to your projects is inspiring. I look forward to your vlogs.
Oh man the room looks beautiful! Your choice of fittings so tasteful and I love the clean look of that brass hook. I think the gold on the lamp actually looks more like brass in the video. It fades into the overall room nicely and doesn't look ostentatious. I can't wait to see what art you add to the wall in the reading corner. Gorgeous.
I had to rewatch this episode today before I watched the new one. Not because it bored me the first time but because I made the mistake of deciding to watch it when I was extremely tired. Rosie, you crack me up with each episode with your shenanigans and comments.
Thank you for sharing the glorious beauty of your new home and the surrounding countryside. It is so beautiful! I miss the snow❤and I miss the seasons of my Tennessee birthplace and living/visiting family in N. & S. Carolinas 🏡 Yes, the trim will make it! Overalls should be big to allow you to layer over your clothing. I love them! Great job constructing your pattern. I've sewn all my life but seldom created a pattern from scratch. I did make a mermaid costume for my granddaughter when she was small. I made loads of costumes. They were so fun to dream up❤
Hi Rosie ... thanks as always for sharing your little bit of the world with us. When you mentioned early on that you had a plan to do something small to help get you back into the DIY mindset - I made a mental bet (5 Canadian dollars) that your sewing machine was coming out, and with a smile on your face, "fanfar" there it is. Take good care, and see you soon.
It is a joy to be part of your journey.....I like the overalls. I have some gardening overalls and I purposely bought them larger so that I could move unrestricted. : )
You did an excellent job on those overalls. Think how much better the next ones will be. They’re cute. I really like those new lights. Your room looks lovely.
Rosie, your videos are so inspiring. I could watch you work for hours and hate when they end.😊 The house is coming along nicely. And the land around you is just stunning. How lucky you are for all the solitude with nature. I would simply love it! Already looking forward to the next video.
Overalls are meant to be big 😊 they go over all your clothes as a protective layer when working. I think they look very cute, in the summer being loose might be nice and in the winter being bigger you can get extra layers underneath.
I just love your channel. You make me smile.😊 The line “If only I had light bulbs “ made me laugh out loud. Thank You. We all missed you over the holidays.💕
That moment when you walked into the tree before getting on the bus.. That's always the kind of image that I picture in my mind when I think of the book The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe when Lucy first goes into Narnia and meets Mr. Tumnus. It looked so magical. I'm a new follower and have recently binged all of your videos to this point Rosie and I cannot tell you how much happiness and calm your channel has brought me. You are the RU-vid equivalent of Hygge. Thank you for sharing your light with all of us. 😌
How lovely! I was just thinking I was in the mood for one of your videos and here it is! Excellent! (This video could be titled "Watch Rosie Lift Heavy and/or Awkward Things".). :)
The snow and forest is so lovely, I can see why you love the walk. You are a very impressive woman and I am enjoying every minute of your journey! Oh and I am a huge fan of Marzipan too!!!!
I sit in my comfy chair and read usually a couple days a week. I’m a Retired Writing and Literature teacher. It’s a small pleasure I give myself to enjoy that time guilt free.
Dear Rosie, I have been going through this wonderful journey of watching your videos from the beginning of your search for a new place to live and create your own Home....I am in awe of your abilities and resilience and creativity and so much more...your videos are giving me a sense of calm and relief from a very difficult time, and there are many things, in a different way that I can resonate with and others that I wish I knew how to...still a few videos to catch up with luckily, I am almost stressing for when I will be caught up!😅...this room is amazing and so cozy and "cute" 🌷 ...I don't want to be the x person suggesting things you are able to think of yourself, 🙏 sometimes I guess one just wants to participate, as if having a conversation with you... but just thinking of how you want to build something from scratch and how I myself (living in a tiny city flat) crave to have a "creative" space, (forsewing and knitting and other crafts) which I guess now you have built, yay! but also a more "messy" creative place for diy building stuff, you probably already have this in your plans, but maybe your first shed could be a place to use and store all your tools and cut the wood (in winter) and glue stuff and stain it and paint it etc...who knows...I feel it is one of the spaces you use the most...thank you for sharing snippets of your life there and also how you manage certain difficulties outside and inside, it is inspiring and helpful. Love and Light ✨💚 oh! the rabbits!!💚💚 I went to this wonderful place in the hills where they were desperate with rabbits everywhere! catching them with a butterfly net and trying to give them to those tht would take care of them...I was so tempted but in my city flat it would have been hard...they naively brought two rabbits years ago for the kids...without thinking of their "multiplication" rate...and quickly got taken over!! it was really surreal being in that magical place with cute but crazy bunny rabbits runing around everywhere!!! 🤗💚
May I offer a little tip about your crosscut saw? You have a very course blade there. The fewest teeth on the blade....and it's good for cutting roughly, but if you get your supplier to give you a fine blade...more teeth, you will find you get a really clean cut. No splits on the underside, which I've seen you having to trim off. More expensive purchase, but really well worth it for the fine work you are doing. Really nice what you are doing...!!!
I really like the gold in the lamps. I think it looks great with the wood. Everything is looking great. I can’t wait to see what art you will put there
You remind me of myself as a young woman, kinda unstoppable. But you did have me worried when your were dragging that door up to the attic. But you did it! 💪🏻 Your overalls don’t look too big, just comfy/roomy. CUTE!
Hi Rosie, I spent a few years in the mountains, building a wooden cabin while working as a teacher. I know about long walks to get food, although mine were uphill and back. It took a whole day to get to the shop and back. , especially in the winter when it gets dark so quickly. People there used sleds and I copied them-it is so much easier!- Even wrapping your bags in tarpaulin and dragging it behind you would be easier than carrying all that weight on your shoulders. Your knees would be thankful. Thank you for sharing snippets of your life with us.
I'd stain the ply black. I noticed the black cardboard looked great for a backdrop to a large art piece as well as a collage of smaller prints and photos. Like a professional passepartot. The grain of the ply would still be visible, it gives the corner som depth and focus, and ties in perfectly with your black lamps. Otherwize it looks kind of like one of those burlap and cork message walls from a student dorm, so a bit of bold definition would elevate your design and make it look more deliberate. You know you can take a still from any of your film footage and have it printed in any size. You've so much beautiful nature shots like the ones in this video, blowing one up and having it printed and mounted behind glass on that wall with a black background around it would be like a window into another world! The footage of your walk and all the snowy trees in fantastic perspective was really beautiful. I'm very impressed by your sewing too, I'd keep the overalls big and loose, looks great and comfy. They are for work and being around the house anyway. Don't buy large wattage bulbs. Buy warm white led bulbs as bright as you like and save enormously on bills (and limit your carbon footprint) they last SO much longer too. Getting the heavy old wooden door up those stairs was quite an accomplishment indeed! 💪👏👏👏❤️
I hesitate to say "don't do ~~", and "do this ~~"? Rosie I think your taste is understated and beautiful..Maybe the black would look definitive and elegant - but I'm sure you will work out exactly what you want. I so enjoy watching your episodes. My one grandmother grew up in Switzerland and had such a deep love for the Nordic countries. I feel as though I've inherited some of that love from her. shine with happiness.
My dear...you are simply...(wait for it...) 'cute'! I'm an ol' grandma watchin' from Canada and I luv the fact you live a natural, simple, humble life in an environment foreign to you and yet...you are making it a home for yourself! You have MUCH inner strength. I pray (literally) for your protection and the continued ability to keep being yourself...which is a great gift. Not many are comfortable in their own skin and often desire to escape themselves and try to either please others or copy others. Your lovely little home is getting prettier by the day. Thanks 4 sharing...health and blessings! :)
Not going to lie, I never have light bulbs, and I forget to buy them until over half the house is in total darkness. The room looks really good. Comfortable and relaxing. Well done!
Rosie, in Sweden they use push sleds to travel, not the sleds with dogs but just your own power. One of those might make your trips easier in the snow.
Yeah, I was thinking that too, at least to the bus. They have a seat on the front to which she could strap her groceries. They're probably not easy to find though, I have never seen a new one. They're called "spark" or kicksled.
Just found your videos today ❤ I love working beside you, me peeling my spuds you doing things I only dream of. Thank you 😊 I adore the music too. Blessings.
Love, Love, Love, how your office/library turned out! Good job. I love the lamps you got too. I wouldn't change the gold. It will give you soft warm lighting.
I am so amazed by everything you do. Thank you so much for sharing. I hope in the summer and fall we will learn how you preserve foods for the winter months, so that you can eat from a pantry, I think you would have brillant and creative ideas that we can all learn from. Keep up the great work and your nature scenes are just stunning.
It is nice seeing smoke coming out of your newly repaired chimney. Very creative designing your own overalls. Remember they should be roomy so you can pull them "over" other clothing. Their original purpose was as work clothing to keep other clothing from getting dirty. Enjoy your Art Wall ! Could use it for a change of moods or change of seasons, etc.
You are so artistic. Incredible. I am awed at each thing you create. Love your new lights and gorgeous wall. You are such an incredible creator. Builder. Awesome
thank you for sharing your journey with your home , this is the best thing about youtube , I always search for such content, and you are the best there is in this field , I hope you have a nice home filled with love .
I came across your channel as I watch a lot of flower content and your greenhouse building video popped into my feed! Wow! What an amazing journey you are on. It’s not often that I comment about RU-vid content at all but I’ve shared your story with my husband cos I’m blown away by your tenacity. Xxx
Oh on....no light bulbs😮.... Love that you got yourself chocolates....everyone needs a treat sometimes. Your room is a Devine, calm haven. Beautiful ❄️
I started watching before you bought this place. Love your style. You inspired my wife and I to build a tiny cottage on the rocky Oregon coast. Only 12'x24', red pine board and batten siding. Raw pine inside, even the floors. But our accents are black sheet rock screws everywhere instead of nails and wrought iron hardware. White bead board ceilings and a couple walls in bathroom and kitchen. We are all off grid, no propane. We are all solar, even a passive solar water heater that even provides heat through oil filled radiators with hot water pumped through them by a small RV water pump....James
Backpack sled would work, if you can put it on a leash and tie it to your belt buckle as you walk down the road. The light, oh yes, the light! Great job on your cozy reading nook!
The gold toned light inside gives a warm glow. Looks good! Maybe in the future you could share the brand/make of your Japanese hand saw. It looks very sturdy, while most seem to be very bendable. Thanks! Stay warm in your lovely home in the woods.
😂 True. I loved Rosies Japanese saw and wanted to get myself one. I live in Germany. Anyway, one day I went into a hardware shop and saw a Japanese saw and bought it. It was way cheaper than trying to buy things on Amazon, plus shipping and tax. The only thing is it is the saw metal is very wobby or bendy. There are teeth on both sides of the saw so you can't hold the top to metal steady. My saw is longish. I haven't used it yet. I'm waiting for summer to do some projects. But Im happy I found one in a store I would never have imagined had such a thing as a Japanese hand saw. I didn't know they exists until Rosie introduced us to them and cuts wood so well with hers. 🎉
It has been my experience with overalls that you *want* them to be a little on the large side. Usually, folks are layering bulkier clothes underneath them and you need to be able to bend and twist, etc. That's difficult to do in tight overalls 🦋
I’M 80 and have lost a lot of body strength in the past few years. So I use tricks to move things. In the door to the attic, I would put old towels, blankets, etc. either rapped on the edge of the door being dragged or on the stairs. Then you can pull the door up much easier. You can also put a thin rope or butcher twine on the door know and wrap it around the bannister. This is in case if the door becomes heavier than you can manage the rope will stop it from falling and being damaged.
So good to see your creations come into being. Love your overalls and your library! Beautiful shots of the snow and trees. Music is perfect. Love how you gently pull us into your world to sit down for a visit with you. And laugh with you too.
Rosie i admire what you have achieved by your self, you are amazing! Please if you haven’t already buy your self carbon monoxide detector and few fire extinguishers. Also ask chimney guy at least once to maintenance your fireplace because it can get stuck with ashes. It took me few weeks to watch every single video you have made and since you put the fireplace i am thinking i should say what i did regardless of your knowledge ( i know you know) . Be safe brave lady and God speed! ❤
I love the gold it will go great with your hooks and the wood it's a great match to the room , but I just love everything you do the kitchen is dream space and now your office is so gorgeous 😍 you should super proud of yourself cause your amazing !!!
I have missed you! So proud of you and your gifts of all creative things. You freeze me just watching how cold it looks and you out walking in it. Love your new clothes and room.
I don’t know how is the winter is in Sweden, I live in Canada, but you wouldn’t be able to walk around in the snow here! We usually have few meters of snow and it stays like this for months. Each time you show us your walks, I think how lucky you are you can actually leave your place and “walk” to the bus stop or through the forest. I hope the winter in Sweden will stay mild and with less snow than we have here. otherwise we would worry about your survival. Good luck!
Rosie!!! So very nice to see you back! I love your minimalist simple interior design… I try to achieve that same look in my home… it brings me peace in this crazy world.
You need to get a kick sled. It would help you so much. Load your stuff from the store on the sled seat and kick your way home 😁 your videos are so inspirational! Your home is lovely!
