How does Western Chaplin have 3 million subscribers and he shows a 5th of his work compare to Rick and his 13 min videos come out ever 2 months. RU-vid algorithms, suck.....
@@DEBOSSGARAGE love the channel. Building my own shop to work on my own projects. Have a built duramax, and i also have a swapped duramax that was a gas 1500, and i have a foxbody that im coyote swapping after i finish the duramax swap. Love this stuff.
I wanted for an apache since around 1967 when I first recognized what it was. Out here in the antipodes they cost upward of $(I'm not paying that much). So it's a blast watching some people do it and costs me freaking nothing. I'd still be keen to own at a sensible price coz they have that mid 50s styling. It's never going to be what we have in our modern vehicles for comfort and protection. Built in Bluetooth and so on is unbeatable and cruise control I like to see done right. I'm sure not going to install a bolt on myself. But. This is yours and I like what you've done with the old place. 😊. So when I win Lotto I'll get mine built a lot like yours but I might get Chip Foose to do it cause it's easy.
When you put your cables together fill your copper lugs with dielectric grease before you put your ends on the cables it helps with moisture and all that good stuff and obviously heat shrink the lug to the cable. Love the build Rich!
Seeing that UTE(coz its not a truck) with out its TUB ( coz its not a bed) gave me mad ideas to stretch the CHASSIS ( coz only houses have frames) and make the worlds most awsome TILT TRAY ( coz they dont slide, they tilt) Hope you see the funny side to this rich, if not Al from TSF can explain the australiana 🇦🇺😂 Your a legend to the car scene mate, love ya work 👌🤠👍
It's crazy how much putting the whole truck together and taking it back apart again. Great bunch of guys you have helping. I've really been enjoying this build
Great video as always. Windage trays are one of those overlooked parts that really help keep the oil closer to where it needs to be, and keep it off the crank counterweights to help with power. Good job modding those headers Rich. Thats such a common occurrence with so many swaps. Seems like the drivers side header is always interfering with the rack and or the motor mount, etc. The intake design/ install also looks great, and I liked the idea of using the inner fender sheet metal as your heat shield, rubber 'bulb seal' edging and all. Very nice work all the way around.💪
I like the mental geometry exercise. I guess intake plenum would work with most newer cars. I was trying to imagine a plenum that looked like an air filter stacked on a carb
We used more expensive parts as we have about 6000 miles to drive before we head home. If it was more of a local driver, I would 100% build it with junkyard parts. Still weld in the Camaro front end, and throw in a used 5.3 and head out for ice cream
Not California, Vegas then drive. The casinos pay the airlines to get people into Vegas. Flights for us on a direct flight from a local airport is between $50-80 USD.
Thank you very much. I am very proud of everyone that was involved in this truck as we pulled off a complete truck build 3500 miles from home in 12 working days, in a driveway with limited tools
When you fight a tight bend on a complex part with sheet metal- - -you can take the apron extension angle off the brake and bend the sheet metal the 5/16" -3/8" wide main plate on the apron will work as long as it is less than 1/2 the full span of the brake.
Battery cables use one of those nut splitter things put pieces of Is Rosencore sautter in the lug before you crimp it then after you crimp it heat it up with a torch and up the best connection ever
A soldiered cable is still a better connection than a crimped one when done correctly. How do I know? I was an electrician. Is it easier or faster? No. Do you need to go that far for a fair weather vehicle like this build? No. If this was a mud bogging truck, was going to be a vital piece of equipment, or was going to be near the ocean all the time, then you would want to soldier the connector to keep the moisture out of it. Regardless, of the use I would recommend heat shrinking the edge of the connector and cable/wire with a quality heat shrink after crimping or soldiering to keep moisture out and mechanically reinforce the connection. It looks good too.
@DEBOSS GARAGE crimping is done to save time and outside of environmental factors is good enough for most uses, if you have a sealed connector you have crimped on and heat shrink is applied to the interface of the wire jacket and the connector to seal out moisture. Another factor is if you are trying to minimize heat or resistance at connections. A crimped connector has higher resistance than a soldiered one. This is a limited application and isn't something you are going to see outside of industrial settings like where I worked.
You need a Journeyman sheet metal worker to give you tips on the sheet metal brake work. That was painful for me to watch. Turned out good in the end though. Fun to watch.
you never know the situation people are in at the time. We flew in the night before, then drove 6 hours to get to Pismo Beach. we arrived at 2 AM (which is 5 am our Eastern time), slept for 4 hours and went to work. it would have looked a lot different the following day, with some proper rest. I put the fuel pressure regulator on 3 times before I had it facing the right way.
It is common to have to center the quicktime bell housing with offset dowels to prevent premature wear on the input shaft bearing of the trans. Was it need in this case?
Just saw something that u guys might have missed(6:11), u probably have to reinforce those upper mounts for the rear suspension, judging by the video they already look bent upwards and they certanly will be later on :/ Keep up the good work guys! Cheers from Sweden! :D
The fenders have the holes for that emblem but the emblem is gone. We would call it a 3100 except that it isn't searched online as much as apache. We know it isn't technically, but also don't care. Nothing on this truck is original anyway, and since I built it, I can call it whatever I want
Rick, Didn't know in Southern california, the mecca of car customization, you couldn't find a longer grade 8 bolt? It probably cost half as much to mail it there as it did to go to the hardware store down the street and buy the proper bolt. 😂 Just give me crap Sir. Awesome builds.
