The present Russian army is geared to take on the whole of nato. Their forces are more efficent if not they will have air superiority and better air defence like the s400 and s500 Ask usa what happens if a country has air superiority.

There is a peacetime brigade which is Swedish speaking. But all commands are in Finnish. Example would be hovercraft destruction where they speak Swedish but the destroy command is Finnish word "tuhoa". Air force has switched the command language to English for better interoperation with our cooperation partners.

The official share of the Swedish speakers in Finland is 5.1 %, but in reality it is smaller. Because it is in many ways beneficial to be a Swedish speaker in Finland, most bilingual couples register their (more) Finnish speaking children as Swedish speakers. Also the majority of the Swedish speakers speak perfect Finnish too.

@@rFey There indeed are some exceptions, but those overwhelmingly Swedish language dominant areas with poor Finnish language skills have small populations. In general the Finnish Swedish-speakers are fluent in Finnish language too, often on a native speaker level.

Gotta say it sounded a bit weird, but there are A LOT OF private contractor courses these days usually ran by former special forces guys. It could be something like that... 6 months though? Maybe if you take several courses. There were a lot of photos in the article, anyone seen them elsewhere? Well, this ranking is kinda strange. It even puts Latvia ahead of Estonia... And we all know whish millitary, has more equipment, more trained man and is faster developing..

Finland has immideate reserve of 380 000 men and 950 00 in total (rest forr replacements) and solid gear, very close to buying F-35 fighters, but Corona and its economic results have delayed the fighter purchase by few years. Anyways Id say our equipment is modern even with the F/A-18 hornets, cause they have been given all the updates. Tanks are 300 Leopard 2A6 and another 200-300 2A4. Even the assault rifles got update, have red dot sights and grenade launchers and for some troops even more sweets, So I dont understand why they would trash rank us to be honest :D If thats the case that you can get around those positions with very old equipment and low numbers.

Finland has for example half the budget of Sweden and thus Sweden is much higher with its full mobilizied strenght of 60 000 men with good equipment. The Global firepower doesn't take into the account that how much of the budget goes to professional soldiers wages. FDF budget 3.158 billion euros, If we say average pay of FDF emplyees is 3500e and there are 8,056 staff that would total to 338 352 000 euros per year + 25 000 reservists with average of lets say 8 euros per day ( it varies with the lenght of service from around 5 to 10 euros) that is 73 000 000 per year so in total 411 352 000 euros goes to wages. Finnish Mobilized strenght 380 000 and from great to good enough equipped. Sweden: professionals 22,500 and if we go with the same 3500 euros per month that is 945 000 000 a year from yearly budget of €5.68 billion. Conclusion: Budgets after wages Finland: 2 746 648 000 euros, Sweden: 4 735 000 000 euros. This makes the difference even though Sweden doesn't get Defence forces that can defend the country (they don't really need to, but it would be nice for Finland to have Sweden back as military power) they are much higher ranked 32 and Finland with cabable defence forces to defend the country 59. Sweden does have stronger Navy and Air force, where most of there budget goes to. It looks like Finland also gets negative effect from road coverage, which is actually good for the defence. Western part of country - great infrastucture but the east (where our "threat" is) is less covered. This is advantage for the Finns because the Norwegians who flank us and attack from the east rely on roads because of their poor logistics structure and reliance of mechanized infantry. Finns of the forests around the roads and can funnel enemy forces with them. But Global firepower doesn't look at the actual situation as it shouldn't, this was just me pointing out the road coverage doesn't always mean bad for logistics.
