Heippa hei! This is a simple podcast for Finnish learners. I cover topics that are useful in everyday life, such as greetings, introductions, and asking "how are you". I have an emphasis on spoken Finnish, puhekieli - it's the language that native Finns use! Some episodes focus entirely on differences between written Finnish and spoken Finnish, while others talk about a specific situation, such as shopping for groceries or meeting a new person. I hope you find this useful! 💙
Subtitles in Finnish are available. RU-vid provides an automatic English translation that you can select in the CC settings. I encourage you to try and listen without any subtitles once you feel comfortable doing so! Maybe you need subtitles at first, but the second time around you could do without.
Nowadays I offer Finnish lessons on iTalki (The following is an affiliate link - when you register through this link, I may earn a commission.): www.italki.com/affshare?ref=a... If you register through this link, you get $10 to use in iTalki! To book a lesson with me, you have to make an iTalki account first. At the moment, I'm focusing on intermediate and advanced students.
The music is Morning Mandolin by Chris Haugen.

Hi all! This episode, like all the others, has Finnish subtitles that can be auto-translated into English - just make sure the subtitles are on and then change the language in the settings! Here’s a list of the snow related Finnish words: *räntä* = wet snowfall *pyry* = heavy snowfall *tuisku* = windy snowfall *hanki* = a thick layer of snow on the ground *puuterilumi* = powdery snow (when the weather is cold) *nuoska* = wet snow (NOT snot, as the auto-translation claims!) *loska* = slush *kantohanki/hankikanto* = hardened snow that one can walk on *kevättalvi* = late winter/early spring
