I think Lip doesn't give her as much credit as she deserves and when she does make a mistake he is there so he can rub it in her face. Don't get me wrong Fiona does make mistakes but everyone does. It's like Lip expects her to be and doesn't expect her to be at the same time. They are like the parents of the family.
Thing is when lip makes a mistake it's not to big of a deal as it doesn't affect anyone but himself but when fiona makes a mistake it doesn't just affect her it affects everyone she loses the rent gambling on the chance she might succeed in a club night she decides to leave the drugs out and Liam gets into them as toddlers do she gets sent away to prison leaveing the brunt of the responsibilities on lip who has never had to do so on top of all his other responsibilities and now she has essentially turned her back on them and expects them to fend for themselves. She acts like they have only survived because of her which isn't true when she loses the rent lip solves the problem when she get sent away lip steps up and now he's doing it again. They only thrive when they work together
PIDU Pizano Lip wasted all the college money she sent him. She's put all her time and money into those kids, even the judge said if took guardianship over them that she wouldn't have a life. It's hard to parent 5 children when you're poor, young, and with the system against you. In the first seasons, Lip and the other kids went back to Monica when she wasn't the one who took care of them all those years. All their accomplishments, they owe them to Fiona because she always pushed them to be better than where they came from. I rewatched the first seasons and she helped push Lip to go to college, she helped Debbie stand up to bullies and pushed her to join the debate team, helped Carl get 1st place on his science project, and encouraged Ian when it came to ROTC. Fiona has always tried to better their situation, but he always discourages her even when her investment is right.
Thanks for this. I'm pretty late to the game... I watched a little bit of this show years ago, but never seriously "discovered" it until a few weeks ago. I binge-watched 3 seasons between Christmas and New Years, now I am solidly hooked. GREAT writing.
I love them so much and I like how they hold each other accountable for their mistakes. Most people hated how lip treated Fiona after the coke incident with Liam but if that happened in real life everyone would probably be the Lip
I understand that. But in the same since. Everyone wants Fiona to be perfect. They've all fucked up. Debbie had a child. Lip is turning into Frank with his drinking. Carl went to jail. And ik it had to do with the medication. But, Ian stole Mickey's baby and ran from cops and then flushed his pills.
@@hannahwilliams4437 it might be weird to comment this now lol but i think lip viewed fiona as a mother and held her on a pedestal, so when she fucked up it hit a little harder. whenever fiona messed up, it effected everyone horribly. like when fiona left the coke out, lip was rightfully upset to be tossed all the responsibilities while also juggling college. granted, fiona is young and only should be and act like an older sister, the mother title is too much for her or anyone to handle at her age esp w six kids
