Hey guys sorry about the audio problems in the video with missing audio in sections not sure what happened if you want a more in-depth video on how the exhaust fans work and why they’re there you may enjoy this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uv8BTbXV5uQ.html
As with Edwards. Simplex was spot on with their legacy systems but not so much with their later systems. When it comes to modern day choices best to stick with Honeywell; they know their stuff. Awesome video.
To be fair, Edwards is sort of making a comeback with their EST-4 platform. Way less buggy than the 3, and very backwards compatible. Their customer service is also obviously better than simplex, but that's a fairly low bar.
They open them if it’s not super hot and just want fresh air but if it’s really hot it would just let the hot air in so you’ll be better off with the air conditioning
@Marc Leslie They only open if specific smoke detectors are activated so sure if you wanted to you could go out of it there’s nothing stopping you but it’s not meant for that as 90% of fire alarm conditions the door wouldn’t be open
Yeah sometimes age doesn’t have that big of an impact on how nice the building is we are building two new schools in the district as of right now and they don’t seem as nice as this school and my school from 2015 100 million doesn’t get you as much now as it used to
@@nics-systems-electric agreed. Even where my dad works, the building is fairly nice. It even has stuff like a indoor pool, a bigger cafeteria, and a bigger Library (mine is tiny) which my school doesn't have those or its smaller and it was built in 1996-97.
@@SomeDudeWithAnExitSign definitely depends a lot more on budget and architect than it does on age there’s buildings from the 60s and 70s that seem extremely modern even today
I know simplex has their problems but there's just something about them that I love. Especially older Simplex. Have a lot of Mechanical horn strobes from them even branded in the original FOS/Faraday. I love the True alerts too though. My company installs Notifier which I do like. Honeywell definitely knows what they're doing.
There old products back in the day were good but now their company is terrible for any customer support or fixing their screwup’s and it’s pretty much scam
@@nics-systems-electric I blame Johnson Controls. They bought York (hvac manufacturer) and they went to hell. Like they actually suck. Perhaps thats the reason?
@NIC'S - SYSTEMS & ELECTRIC those bay doors are very nice to the system and they will also allow firefighters to get their crosslay's inside the building in the event of a fire or a smoke emergency
Interesting system. There's some odd stuff going on with the sound in this video, there are times when the sound appears to be playing very slowly and it also sounds like you've got multiple sound files playing over each other, some playing at slow speed.
its using the newer simplex adressable pull! I do have a newer one of those but rotate the entire key lock as i hated how they changed direction of the keylock direction
Wish they had keyfobs for elevators when I was in school the Schindler elevators had key locks where the elevator call buttons would normally be but the school had to replace them either my second or third year with Medco momentary contact key switches because the original locks were able to be picked by students that wanted to use the elevator. And some of them would be douches and leave the lock in the on position so the elevators would get stuck on one of the floors until someone moved the lock back to the off position or it was called two a different floor but if your desired floor wasn't the one where the key was left to on unless you pressed it quick enough the elevator would immeidatley go to the floor with key switch left on
It’ll probably happen at the elevators in my school too kids weren’t picking them but would just get injured and get a key temporarily and then copy it and then they would put a key in the bottom and the top and both turned them on and the elevator would just go up and down all day long there was a student selling keys to lol. so they switched it to key fobs so students could get access to the elevator only temporarily and for the rest of the staff and trades departments that have all access can just use the elevator without a separate key which is nice
@@nics-systems-electric It's even easier to get keys copied now since those Robotic key duplicators have been put in so many retail locations. All of the Walmart locations I've been in which includes the one I worked at for almost 6 years as a cashier has them. It's called minute key. As long as you got the cash or the credit/debit card you can any key that isn't chipped or specialty duplicated. And since it's a robot it wouldn't question if someone came up to it and requested say 20 copies of a key made.
@@nics-systems-electricDoes Canada have a code regarding voice evac systems? In. The US here, if the building occupancy is 800+ you need a voice evac system.
@@nics-systems-electric Wait, this school or the other school. Cause the other elevator is different from this elevator. Plus the brand are not the same so there totally 2 different elevators. (sorry that I am talking so much elevator, but I do know your last elevator video did very well in my opinion)
@@nics-systems-electric there was this one time during my 5th grade school year where we had a malfunctioning EST Genesis mechanical horn where it would go off and the horn would sound off and sound all choppy. So basically we had to deal with that every fire drill we had. It wasn’t until mid to late May when the school asked for a technician to install a new mechanical horn
6 per year minimum but my school usually doesn’t have to do all of them because of lots of false alarms this school in this video is probably a similar situation and we do hold and secure drill I don’t remember doing a lockdown but maybe I wasn’t there for it
@@nics-systems-electric my school is also going to have a fire drill idk what panel it is but I know its a notifier system with bg-12 lx's and specralert classics
Simplex U/ES systems are actually really nice. The only real problem with Simplex is the somewhat monopoly-like poor service when it comes to programming. Btw at points, it sounded like the audio got possessed by a demon lol
The 4006 is conventional a building like this needs a large addressable system with programmable logic zones as well as many nec circuits there is much much more to a system that determines what it requires then having voice capabilities which is not usually required for educational facilities
@@J19_vlogger74 Pretty much when they started seeing how far they can push making money versus quality service and products and they pushed it a little bit too hard and lost a lot of customers at least in Canada
