As someone who was in band in high school(I’m in the US, not sure how that works in Canada) the scenes where y’all were fucking around with the musical instruments both had me in stitches and cringing so hard. The part where Nic was under the floor complaining about long the test was taking and somebody was above him fooling around with drums and a piano and shit nearly killed me. 😭💀🤣
The Fine Arts building at my college also has smoke detectors installed above the drop ceilings in the corridors! It was originally set up that way when the building was built in 1978 with a Simplex 4207 system; now they have a Notifier NFS2-640 system, but they still have smoke detectors above the ceiling tiles in the corridors (mostly System Sensor i3s and at least one 2151T; it's set up in a conventional manner as they reused the existing Simplex pull stations).
It is much harder on the body to use the homemade lamp one as you have to carry around heavy sealed lead acid batteries we use that one for conventional old Edwards heat detectors that pop if you use the solo tester
Usually in the UK, our version of a good system to replace a old, non compliant system would be a Advanced MXPro5, the MXPro5 is kind of like the NFS panels with different models for the amount of points you need.
@@nics-systems-electric The ones that are too loud are set on high volume in a reverbarant space where sounds get easily louder (which was probably with the old bell system) as they should get turned down to low volume or probably with black tape inside the device on the horn grille that's done by taking the device apart so it can look up to code if its still loud on low volume and the ones that are quiet must be turned up to high volume and more devices need to be added where its too quiet
Let me tell you something: If I did a commercial fire alarm system in my house. I would not put horns in the rooms (I'd just do strobe only in the rooms) because having horns in the rooms is not good for my autism and would cause me to panic and have trouble sleeping. I don't know how you deal with it but you do what you want.
You might find sounder bases set to low volume easier to deal with. That's my intention when I move house. I get where you're coming from, but in the event of a fire you definitely want to be woken up, and to meet the decibel requirements (more like recommendation in residential) you'd probably have to either have low volume inside, or high volume outside the bedroom. High volume can be disorienting but if having a sounder in your room gives you anxiety then high volume outside might be the way to go.
To clarify in case you don't know, a sounder base is basically just a piece you put on the ceiling before the detector goes over it, making it a nice lil hamburger that's effectively kinda like the residential smoke alarms you normally see
I plan on making a fire alarm board with wood. What thickenss wood should I get in your experience? Also, where is the best place to cheaply purchase pull stations and/or alarms? Thanks!
40:03 The L-Series isn't working because they wired up the device backwards or the NAC polarity is weird due to the way how its wired or the previous device that goes to this device downstream might have gotten wired backwards as well (the 1 negative and one positive got their places switched where it goes to this device or it wasn't wired properly)
Glad to hear. No need to feel bad it's a pretty simple job for this building no complicated correlations or unusual set ups we mapped out everything left a device address map all they have to do is put in the address add zones to it and type up a label and then dump the program into the panel
You know.....they make collapsible extension poles for the solo so you dont have to use a lift to test. And btw I bet your FPE didnt take into account stratification for that smoke in the atrium ... it will never pick up smoke from a fire
Of course the pole was used in this video. This is a system replacement you replace the devices that were installed before with their engineered placement you do not differ from that.
One more question, how can I flush mount fire alarms L series and pull stations on the 3/8 ply that you said would be good for a fire alarm board in my other comment?
This was very fun to watch. It was also funny how you got called a "Goat head" and Jamie doing other things that are funny. So, what kind of automations does this fire alarm system do for this particular building other than HVAC shutdown? Just curious
Not for these ventilated ones but many of the older crawlspaces that are more confined and potentially have wood rot then definitely gas detection. I'd have to look at the book to say exactly when you do and don't have to though
Hey nic so i have a idea Uploading More Quality videos over quantity what i mean is only upload on saturdays or sundays because u have more time for vids just a idea tho
I'm sorry you aren't satisfied with the quality of videos I try my best to my abilities with filming and editing however you will only get so good of quality when you were trying to complete a job and filming is your second priority during multitasking
@@nics-systems-electric no no i didnt mean that im so sorry ieant like if u can like film videos less often better quality because u have more time i did not want to come off rude
@@Veshremypfpspam can't really change it. There isn't a set schedule for filming. Sometimes I only record a few videos per month and sometimes I make 10 or so in a week my videos don't determine when projects are done so if a project is being done, I have to film and edit it as it goes. Otherwise it will become too much to deal with.
Your fire alarms are so damn loud😅... Ours here in Germany are not louder than a radio playing in the backround. Did you really let run the horns for thrirty minutes🙈?
