Fire Burning Browntop Millet for Dove Hunting 

Hey there neighbor! Just found your channel. We're up in northern Alamance Co. Mr. Murray up here hosts a great hunt every year. We use our field just to go sit for a few minutes in the afternoons whenever the opportunity arises to bag a few birds. We'll keep track of what you're doing for sure!

We always leave few strips to give dove cover. U would be surprised amount of dove that get nailed in open ground. Grew up hunting in mexico and fields with strips held dove longer. Ours doesn't open until the 7th. I've never seen it not open on Labor Day weekend. The Finches are killing my sunflowers. Funny is that they knock a lot of seed to the ground, but don't seem to eat them. They like the seeds they get straight off the head it appears. Today I pulled all of my T-posts and did some mowing. I think I'll burn the Dove Proso Millet this coming Sunday. I sprayed it last Thursday and it is all nice and brown along with the crab grass.

Guy has a sickel mower for cheap on market place up your way might wanna check it out. Be a great way to cut that millet

I tried growing a couple acres of Milo and the feral pigs knocked it down even with the hot fence. Sure wish I didn't have the hogs.

Do you think a soybean field will hold doves?

What are your thoughts on bush hogging millet that is still green? We got it in a little late. Good seed heads but green.

After you burn will the millet germinate?
