That is so pretty. Looks yummy, too. I use the white cake mix and poke holes and pour a blue jello mixture over one layer and strawberry jello over the other layer. And use stabalized whipped cream for the frosting. I decorate with strawberries and blueberries.

Hi Catherine! It's been awhile since I've seen you. I like how you made this cake bakery style! Nice Patriot cake. My Birthday was June 14 on Flag Day. Wish I could of had a Cake like this one. A tip for those that cannot eat sugar, Pillsbury has a sugar free white box cake along with sugar free vanilla icing. Both aren't so bad, just don't eat too much due to digestive issues. I use the sugar free chocolate cake mix with the sugar free cherry pie filling to make cobbler. Just a friendly suggestion. :)

Im trying to use an old recipe of my late mother's it calls for instant coconut pudding. Cant find anywhere. Any thoughts for substitute? Making mountain dew cake.

Hi Catherine! Wanted to tell you I am trying this cake for guests tomorrow. I put a little peppermint extract in with the red cake and frosting, and a little red, white and blue sprinkles on top after frosted. Can't wait to see how everyone likes it. And of course wouldn't be the same without a big dollop of whipped cream on top each slice!

That is totally neat...like it! It would be neat to put a sparkler or two and light those up to burn a bit then remove before it gets close to the cake. 🎆🇺🇸
