due to construction starting back up on i65, preston highway will see an increased about of traffic.
Responding to station for a mutual aid run with Central Hardin to the 100mm for a vehicle fire. 5132 went to respond as well as 5130. As soon as we pulled on the pad we were canceled

Love the fact that it seems as if everyone has a crown Vic. If you can ship one to jersey that would be awesome

That was great! Just took the EVOC class today and they pretty much teach it like we should do away with all lights and sirens. One of these days I'm hoping Maine will change their POV laws. Right now we're only allowed a 8 inch light bar and a dash light.
@camdengalvin5048
@camdengalvin5048 2 года назад
From maine. You can find loopholes. I run a single lighting unit. But there are technically two lights they are just connected by one wire, so it’s technically one lighting unit. Kinda confusing but there are ways around the stupid laws they have in place.
@ruralmaineresponders246
@ruralmaineresponders246 2 года назад
Is it law that you have to run sirens when the lights are on? I've noticed that you run siren at night although theirs not many around.
@camdengalvin5048
@camdengalvin5048 2 года назад
@@ruralmaineresponders246 it depends on your role at the department. In maine only Chiefs and assistant chiefs, and occasionally an ems chief (if your department has one) are allowed to run sirens. When responding to a call in a POV even with your lights going, you do not have the right of way. In fact if you ever get into a crash while responding WITH LIGHTS Activated you are liable for any accidents that may occur. Meaning your insurance is going to laugh and give you the finger. It’s stupid but it’s the rules

In kentucky state law says we are required to use a siren along with lights at all times and once the chief signs off in my county you may run lights and sirens with and you can have as many lights as they want our county insurance also covers povs responding to calls because they are an emergency vehicle by state law

What brand of emergency warning lights do you have installed on your Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor? Because I am not former junior Volunteer Firefighter in New Jersey, but I'm currently 24 years old, and will be turning 25 this August of 2023. And I want to join my local fire department and need advice on what is the best type of emergency warning lights out there, that can be seen during the day and at night. Cuz I plan to either buy a Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor or a Ford Explorer Police Interceptor Utility as my Firefighter Pov vehicle, with blue led emergency warning lights installed in the vehicle

Why you used sirens to get fd?
@isaiahheid9000
@isaiahheid9000 2 года назад
His FD is a full volunteer fire department, and most full volunteer departments allow members to run lights and sirens to get to the station to help increase response time. Some allow members to run code for everything, but some limit it to structure fires and serious MVA’s only. The idea behind it is to help get trucks and personnel out the door faster. Given that there’s an emergency call, it’s imperative that members be able to get to the station as quickly as they can without having to get caught in traffic or anything.

@seqfirevehicles1782 2 года назад
@@isaiahheid9000 As a volunteer firefighter in Australia who cannot respond to my station, I agree with everything that you said. The other day I had a callout to an MVA however on the way there a car was driving BELOW the speed limit in front of me for several blocks, and I was unable to overtake. Took a big chunk out of my response time and I almost missed the truck for it.
@oldgamerstudios425
@oldgamerstudios425 2 года назад
@@seqfirevehicles1782 Oh that must be so frustrating! A lot of American states have what is generally referred to as a "courtesy light" law, where volunteer firefighters only get one green light, and no siren, and drivers are NOT required to give way to them. Honestly, I don't know how those firefighters maintain their sanity when trying to respond to an emergency.

Tip. Hi Lo does not work, it's better than the video from 4 years ago you have improved your problem is the high low and electronic horn. When you hit the electronic airhorn on the siren it's it interrupts the siren and the noise can't penetrate a vehicle. And double wail never do. I seen you had it on only wail and yelp penetrate the vehicle and when you run double wail its a 50/50 chance of penetrating a vehicle. So in recap. Better setup but, don't hit that horn, run wail and yelp and you set.
