@@joseanrosado3892 Dimitri and unrecruited Blue Lions die in Golden Deer though, but in the church and Blue Lions routes, they team up with less of an issue yeah
@@thegalwiththepig just finished that in golden deer I tried to avoid killing them didnt work sadly however technically you get aid from dedue later on (idk if you can save him)
Honestly, the whole thought of fighting and killing the people you knew as students at one point just doesn't sit comfortably with me. And that is absolutely how it should be.
I chose the Deer first, and as soon as I had to face my first -- Ferdinand -- my heart felt heavy. It outright crushed me with what Dorothea said afterwards.
Vivi Vargas “There were many soldiers on that bridge....they all died. Ferdie was there. We killed Ferdie Professor, he used to be our friend. Do you remember those days?”
I didn’t get to bond with Ferdie that well during my first BL playthrough, but the main one I wanted to recruit was Bernie. I tried my best to raise my bow rank high enough (I didn’t know getting B rank could get them to randomly join your class) but I didn’t get it in time, and when I saw her on the center hill, I regretted sending Dimitri up there to kill her, and when I heard her death message, I was crushed. From then on she’s been the powerhouse bow knight of my squad
* charges halfway across the map to aggro Byleth * Claude: "Aww c'mon teach wtf I thought we were cool... A damn shame. Why are you fighting me bro? :( Not cool"
Greetings professor, I have something to report! Edelgard has declared she will smash. I'm unsure if she means the game or some kind of kinky stuff, but I'm sure she'd tell you.
@@Soulbane90 True, but Xenoblade 2 got snubbed harder by getting absolutely no recognition in anything, despite having an amazing soundtrack among other things.
I wish Nintendo realized if they just sold their god damn soundtracks they would make boatloads of money from people who watch these and want to have it on their computer....
A lot of mainline FE games have CD soundtrack releases with all the songs (including DLC) by now. The modern releases are no exception; Awakening, Fates, Echoes, and I do hope Three Houses will get one, too. Since DLC has been included in these CDs I assume we'll have to wait until all DLC is released for the soundtrack to be released to places like CD Japan. They're definitely expensive, but for audiophiles... and really anyone else but especially audiophiles who want the best publicly available versions of such music, they're SOOOOOO worth it (imo)
I know it's been a year but TO THIS DAY I'm still salty about how stupid the golden deer's attacking in the Azure Moon route is. Like okay Claude, maybe you didn't see who you were going for from afar (presumably) but why do you STILL ATTACK after clearly establishing it's not the empire !?
i killed every single person in the empire’s side, everyone is dead, then this guy comes at me with his dragon and says “why we fightin arent we both against the empire”
This song man. The first time I heard Blue skies and a battle, I literally spent 5 minutes of my turn to listen to that amazing soundtrack. Blue skies and a battle is suppossed to represent the excitement, confidence and trust in your allies. The battle between lions and eagles, was an event to see how much your students have grown with time, an event made for fun and tradition. But man, the battle of Groender was different. Here, you knew every single one of the students. You may or may have not spended time with them before the time skip, but it doesn't matter. When I saw Bernadetta being scared, not wanting to hurt us, but HAVING TO, it broke my heart. This theme is suppossed to sound like Blue skies and a battle because of the similarity of the situations, but this is a much sadder, and epic one. Because this doesn't play on a funny event to see who's stronger, this theme plays on a war. And in war, it doesn't matter if you know who the enemy is, all that matters is that you make it, and get out of there alive. Here I can hear Dimitri's anger, Claude's sadness and Edelgard's regret. And it's beautiful.
I didn't recruit at single Blue Lion at this point, and, well, they were trained well. So, besides depression as I have to fight Ingrid, a student whose life I saved, there is also the fact that she nearly killed me and I'm trapped on a flaming hill. And so did Felix. And so did Mercedes. And so did Sylvain. And Dimitri gave me a god-damn heart attack WHO THE HELL CAN DEAL 62 DAMAGE TO A GENERAL WITH A PHYSICAL ATTACK, AND WHY!?... And under the depression is also terrified screaming, because war is a scary place, and very lethal. However, this is less notable as this has always been a theme of Fire Emblem. Edit: Also, while I normally hate them... This would have been the perfect fog of war map.
couldnt agree more! I feel every sadness, every sorrow, every helpless. And then followed by vanishing of friendship between teachers, students, civilians... more like skywalker turned into Vader
That's three houses plot (very oversimplified) if you ask me: Edelgard trying to destroy the church while thirsting over the professor, Dimitri trying to kill her while having PTSD, Claude just vibing while ending racism and Byleth chilling and being dead inside.
Rubacalalacas they all are equally great. its impossible to choose someone as your favorite. i chose edelgard first, i thought she was the best, i chose dimitri second, thought he was just as great as edelgard. then i chose claude last, who is just as great as the others.
This theme is sad yet inspiring in a weird and sad way. It makes you wish you could have saved all the students and causes you to reflect on your life and how far you've come with everyone. Maybe FE storylines aren't as good as they could be, but we can all agree that their music each time has been on point.
@Reina the OP Snail God wait, is it actually possible that you recruit literally EVERY Blue Lions student (except Dedue ofc) and Dimitri will just be alone in this battle with only generic soldiers ?
@@zafdu93 I mean, probably. I assume Dedue will be there, though. I did the Battle at Gronder for the first time yesterday, on the Blue Lions route on New Game+, I recruited everyone I could. Claude was all alone except for the generic soldiers, similarly to Edelgard who just had Hubert and nameless units.
I spend most of my time being like "We could have done better. We have the power to go back and do better, each and every time. So why does this war happen, each and every time?"
That moment when you forgot to recruit students then are forced to kill them in this battle then you be like "they won't die right ?" Then this music plays then you know it ain't no joke its life or death, I love this since it's like someone said inspiring but sad also epic at the same time imo definitely Top 5 FE soundtracks of all time
nigga exactly!! I was blue lions and i wanted to get some from red hawks and some from the deers but didnt manage, then this chapter came i didnt want to kill anyone so i TRIED to avoid everything and spearheaded to Edelgard...sadly i had to kill the hawks who were becoming a danger for me but i avoided the deers because we aint enemies, THEN THE NIGGAS FUCKING BACKSTAB ME!! even the girl who was your dad apprentice!! All im saying is, 10/10 would play and get backstab again
@@mrvasa8426 Not a backstab if they are their own side But really if you think about it, Why join either sides when they both are coming out as bad as each other
It was literally because of that line alone that I had to go back like 2 or 3 turns and tell myself I can't let this happen, we're going straight to edelgard and I'll just have to force Claude to come to me before putting the others in danger, and thank god Claude didn't have to die, I wasn't sure how different the routes were yet in that moment but I'm glad that I was able to spare him at least
The shift in tone from _Blue Skies and a Battle_ is pretty dramatic. What was once the stage for a tournament for students to test their strengths against one another has turned into a deadly battlefield. Those who were once friends are now enemies, it's kill or be killed.
I would do this but I dont really like experiencing the same setup multiple times. What makes playthroughs so great is all the tiny variations that get thrown in. Next time I play Blue lions, I might be using plenty of different characters
@@dreamingahopefuldream4439 massive Smash fan here (like thousands of hours) and even I want to see that. Fe3 Houses was my favorite game of the year by far and I'm super hype for Byleth.
In the midst of battle, Dimitri saw the one person he had been hunting for the past five years and with the true fury of a lion, he roared out her name. *EDLEGAAARRRD!!!*
The entire battle from the Blue Lions perspective makes no sense. Claude seems unwilling to join you and tries to make it seem you are choosing to fight against them. I love it alot more in my golden deer playthrough where it makes sense for Dimitri to not care about allying with Claude because he doesn’t have Byleth to keep him composed. FEAR THE DEER
In three houses, sure! I haven't played any FE game beside it so I can't really compare. That battle it's what literally represents the game concept and the most hype.
walking in silence: exists fe characters: let us proceed to victory I'll try my best onwards, to victory never falter! stand together seize the day at your command
Why do people love god shattering star so much but songs like between heaven and earth , a funeral of flowers and indomitable will are so underrated tougth ?
Crimson flower man. Great emotional sway. Indomitable, unflinching resolve to seek change. While it hurt to see my other students get cut down, both sides were fighting for their ideals and their futures. 3H is all about perspective and they did it well.
The battle no one wants to fight but there's no alternative. Friends becoming foes. The body count piles up. The happy memories of the past have never been so far away. This song screams war and the tragedy that comes with it.
Mario, Sonic and Crash, each represent as leader of The big 3, clash on the 32/64 bit dimension during the fifth gen. console wars (1994-2001 colorized)
Probably because it wouldn't be very fitting for a Smash battle, then again that's probably not the reason, since Midna's Lament also made it in for whatever reason.
Played the Golden Deer route and had to watch Bernadetta get surrounded by Dimitri, Dedue, and some armored knights because I didn't recruit her pre-timeskip.. it was so sad
"Stay back! Stay back or I'll shoot!" - Some girl with a water dragon quest that ironically burns, or doesn't burn? I mean, the flames had to reach her corpse eventually. -
FE fans: Years ago we fought here as classmates. But not today. Everybody else: As far as class reunions go this one has to be the worst in history. Byleth: *sigh Smashers: *Kill* *every* *last* *one* *of* *them!*
This soundtrack, I feel every sadness, every sorrow, every helpless. And then followed by vanishing of friendship between teachers, students, civilians... more like skywalker turned into Vader. ironic but realistic one.
Me on my first playthrough: "Maybe if I leave them with one health, they'll retreat." *Walks up to Felix and goes through the options of what will leave him with 1 health.* *Sees Sword of Creator with Sublime Heaven.* "Okay, this should do it" *Critical hit does over 200 damage.* "Oh"
Damn, this has got to be favorite piece in this series and I have heard a bunch of great music from Fire Emblem Heroes and Amalee. This just grasps your emotions in the first second and never lets go for a moment. I haven't even gotten to this part in the game yet, but I am definitely dreading it and at the same time oddly hyped. I'm guessing most of the students can be recruited to your house you chose. Except for Dedue for the BL and Hubert for the BE, because they are loyal to their masters. Can someone let me know how I can get most of the characters I want recruited to my house so I don't have to kill a lot of them. Seriously dreading that, but this music is god-like. Hell, its beyond god-like. Ultra Instinct I suppose.
you just have to go around growing/buying flowers so you can get their support to at least B you're not gonna be able to recruit all of them on your first playthrough most likely but you should be able to pick and choose the ones you like if you spend enough time raising their support level and then on the 2nd playthrough you can recruit the rest of them cuz you can carry over support level
Thanks for the replies! I really am just going to focus on getting at least Annette and Bernie for the first playthrough. But I honestly found something to like about all the characters. My boy Hubie is always protecting Edelgard and I appreciate that.
Hot Garbage Hilda can be recruited at anytime during Blue Lions, is already a member during Golden Deer, and can join during Black Eagles if you’re not going the Edelgard Route.
The first time Ibuesrd this track I was like: "For god's sake, this is POWERFUL. Thanks for making this battle more tragic than it should be game. Now, how do I kill Dimitri and Edelgard without touching Bernadetta?"
On my Verdant Wind playthrough I made a beeline for Edelgard and Dimitri to end things as quickly as I could, and minimize casualties. On Azure Moon, well...I'm not gonna disobey the KING, am I?
Killing Bernadatta really hurt on this map. I tried to recruit her so badly but wasn't able to in time. And since she kept shooting my mages, I couldn't just leave her alone either.
Thought of this when I first listened to the song. TBH I think I heard these notes in many songs after botw came out. I think it infuenced a good amount of composers.
I feel like this song captures the tragic irony of this game. Each of the leaders of the Three Houses ultimately wants the same thing, but they have differing beliefs on what the best way to achieve that goal is, ultimately bringing people who were once friends who fought beside one another, into unavoidable conflict with each other. After the time-skip, each leader has reached a point where they cannot back down, and though it is regrettable, they have no choice but to fight to keep moving forward.
Well said. The game’s all about perspective and I feel a lot of people don’t understand because they can’t understand another’s point of view without being put in each other’s shoes. However that role is the player’s, not the three leaders. We have the luxury of playing every route and seeing the outcome of each. That’s what I really like about this game. You see the other’s perspective so there should be no reason to jump to any assumption of one side.
Anyone else notice that the main 3 lords are kind of like the 3 playable characters in Birth By Sleep? I mean we have the waifu of the three who goes to great lengths to do what she believes is right, but is seen as terrible for doing so, we have the man with brute strength and keeps giving into anger and darkness and has the IQ of a brick, and we have the fun-loving one who is also the youngest and the fastest of the three.

Yeah that's about right, but it's a pretty common trope: The Heart, the Body, and the Soul. The difference being that Edelgard is a very dark take on it.
