While I can understand why most people dislike Leonie for her fixation on Jeralt (and her Yikes B-Support), I think the Supports that don’t center around him are where she shines the most. I love how Leonie sort of takes on a big sister role with Ignatz, Lysithea, and Bernie; how she has down-to-earth moments with Seteth and Shamir where she learns a new perspective; and how she’s not afraid to call Lorenz and Felix out for their own stubborn mindsets. In Three Hopes, we even get a version of Leonie who admits she might’ve gone too far with her admiration for Jeralt and works to find her own identity, while Shez tries to help ground her whenever she starts feeling jealous towards Byleth again.

*cries in Gilbert enjoyer* OK but seriously, I like Gilbert as a character. Obviously, abandoning his kingdom,wife, and daughter was not OK, and he should not have done it, but it probably wasn't easy for him Everyone wants him to come back, and nobody blames him for anything other than abandoning them. And he wants to come back too, because he still cares deeply about those he left behind. But just saying "you should come back" to him is like telling someone with anxiety or depression to just feel happy and calm. It's a lot easier said than done. Obviously he shouldn't have abandoned Annette and his family. But like... I get why he did it, and he doesnt deserve as much hate as he does. Too many people just dismiss him as an awful father, which again, he definitely is, but he's more than that.

I actually really like Hubert. Maybe it's me liking dark brooding characters, but I find Hubert interesting. I want to know more about him and wish that we had more supports for him outside of the Black Eagles and the few other supports that he does get. He's devoted to Edelgard and if you do his later supports with Byleth then you not only have him say that he would give his life for Byleth but if you are female Byleth then he says that they could be like a couplet of birds flying among the Black Eagles. Honestly this is what makes Hubert for me. He is willing to do anything to serve Edelgard, no doubt about that. At the end of the day though like Edelgard says, Hubert is an honorable person as well as loyal.

Well that was a fun time I had during the premiere and in the live chat! Even with the occasional disagreements on placements and character opinions (e.g. I admittedly have a bit of a higher opinion on Edelgard despite her flaws), the video was still entertaining, and chat was well-behaved overall.

Part of the reason I love Three Houses so much is how well-rounded most of the cast actually is. Depending on the route you go, you can unpack so many layers to the house leaders and even the church. In some routes, Edelgard is a war-mongering monster and in others she is a sympathetic revolutionary. It has led to me pouring over a hundred hours into it and maxing out as many support conversations as I can. Even characters I am not fond of like Catherine and Cyril can get some nice character development. That said, my favorites in this game are some of my favorite in the franchise and in all of gaming. Raphael is an absolutely sweet teddy bear who brings sunshine to everyone he meets. Lorenz and Ferdinand might come off as the typical stuck-up nobles, but are genuinely good people who initially just do not understand how the rest of the world works and mellow out through interactions with others. Characters like Lysithea and Dorothea might come off as a little prickly until you get what they're about and they both immediately become heart-breaking. And my absolutely favorite, Bernadetta. Like yeah, I think she's adorable in general and she can be a MONSTER on the battlefield, but I really love her character arc and development. I have had some anxiety issues throughout my life, so seeing her is like seeing my spirit animal manifested in video game form. One thing I think you didn't highlight (no disrespect, you had A LOT to cover) is that I think her support conversations go the same way as Marianne where she starts off as a deer in the headlights with basically everyone, but if you take the time to recruit her and pair her with other characters, she genuinely comes out of her shell and becomes more happy and outgoing overall (even if she still has a little bit of work to go). I think it is a pretty powerful message that trauma can be overcome, if not necessarily healed completely, with the kindness and love of the people around you. I love her supports with Felix (even though I'm not keen on them as a couple), Ignatz, Caspar, and especially Raphael.

Gotta give a hard disagree on some of the Edelgard criticism. While her plans aren't explicitly laid out, she does have solid ideas of how to fix Fodlan, and her endings show she is fully willing to abdicate her power to someone she believes can lead Fodlan in the right direction. Plus a lot of her supports (& especially Byleth's involvement) do much to tone down her extremism. (See Manuela helping her realize the value in religion and Ferdinand pushing back on her interpretations of nobles while promising to help her in government reconstruction.)

OH MY GOSH, an ARI and ALEX list!? This is like the best blending of OG Scorcher and New Scorcher videos. As someone who has been a fan since "Top 15 Worst Cliches in VGs" it is wonderful to see Alex here. Ari is as full of beauty and grace as ever! Great tier list ya'll.

I really like Hanneman and find how he left nobility really interesting to look into and interpret. I also like how though he may be obsessive, at least to me he seems aware of it and is well meaning. Also his supports with characters like Edelgard and Dorothea are very interesting to listen to.

Seeing this tierlist are a delight but also dreading, because SOOO many opinions are formed on certain characters. I disagree on certain placements but other are on point on what I think I would ranked them. I think is really good that even after 5 years we talk about Three Houses. Overall i really liked the video and I expected Cyril to be at the bottom (cries in Cyril enyojer), maybe next time Ari could make a Fire Emblem Tier list!

So I have a funny story with Lysithea. She was my last recruited member before the time skip of my first run. I did everything to try and recruit her before it was too late. I even had her support up to B so I could get her and I was upset that I though I missed her. The literal calendar screen before the mandatory battle the game told me I had recruited her. I cheered so loud my sister shouted at me to be quiet (cause I was visiting my twin cause it was our birthday.) It was a wild ride me and her. If I ever replay again she’s going to be the first one I try to recruit.

As someone who styarted as a Blue Lion, i ADORE Dimitri. everyone around me at the time was doing Black Eagles or golden Deer, but i wanted to do something else, so Blue Lions i went and its the route i've played the most. Dedue and Mercedes's events are some of my favorites, Dimitri commenting on the warmth of Byleth's hand (and then how they fit in his and are still fragile as fem Byleth, i will b forever mad u can't romance him as m Byleth also) and the reveal of the Flame Emperor hits so much harder during that route as well. I'm glad i chose Blue Lions first. As for the dlc, Hapi and Dimitri's ranks are interesting because they give a little more backstory as to what happened and shows that even Dimitri's stepmother may not have been as good as he believed.

Nice to see you make a brief comeback even as a newbie VA, Alex.

Nobody should be surprised that Dimitri is on the top of the list, unless you don't know Ari at all and/or you never heard about Three Houses (which is unlikely) Also, YES BERNIE DESERVES S-TIER

I stand by idea that edelgard using the those who slither in the dark is actually very brilliant move on her end cause it will ensure group's destruction regardless of how war ends cause in worse case scenario and edelgard loses then she takes group down with her as they won't be able hide in the dark cause who ever is still standing would have done serious damage to them and if they try reform after the war and the second that hint that they could be still around they be witch hunt for them to prevent repeat. In best case scenario edelgard wins she gonna personally hunt them using all information she would gained from working with them to eradicated them with her being able focus her full attention on them and knowing general what to expect. Also I think it shows how she able put aside her own personal vendetta to focus on bigger picture and patiently await to end the group once and for all. So yeah her working with those who slither in the dark is a incredibly brilliant move and honestly one big reasons edelgard get hate on that decision is in my opinion is that we don't get mission where we can fight them like if we had dlc that acted post content where we had mission or two where we fought them along side her after war I truly think people would think someone people would ease off her on that decision.

While I don’t agree with the opinions of some characters, like Annette or Ashe, I went into this expecting to not always agree, and so I had a great time listening to y’all’s perspective. I especially appreciate Alex’s spotlight he gives towards many VAs I ranted in my mind endlessly as I watched. Sometimes dissatisfied with not enough praise towards Sylvain or Flayn, while simultaneously delighted hearing the respectful well written comments on most characters in B and above. But respectfully. actual trash opinions on Ingrid. She’s Spectacular!! Dutiful and respectful. One aspect I wanna highlight is how she hates makeup and typical fashion, seeing it as unnecessary to what she wants to become. Her conviction and her unassisted striking looks paints her as a character that’s naturally beautiful inside and out. I could continue to rant on and on about these characters but thats what we just watched.

The way they feel about Dimitri is the same way I feel about Edelgard

It needs to be corrected but Rhea didn't kill Byleth's mother. She created Byleth's mother hence why she says that she says that Byleth's mother is like her daughter. Also yes this does mean that she is both Byleth's daughter and grandmother at the same time.

Great to see Alex back doing collabs in both this and the Disc Only episode he showed up in. Top Fifteen Worst Video Game Cliches is still one of my top ten favorite videos on RU-vid and the comradery he has with Josh is second to none. Also enjoyed him partnering up with Rabbidluigi to bash Skyward Sword, with the impressive amount of dry humor the two can pull off. Honestly, the support conversation Marianne has with you after the timeskip was probably the most heartouching moment in the game for me, finally seeing her get over her selfhatred and being happy was trully beautiful

Gilbert is literally my favorite character, I am SHOCKED to see him placed last. Hilda is downright obnoxious. Failing Gilbert, I also quite like Hanneman, Jeralt, Alois, Dedue, Hubert, Seteth, etc. I agree that the cast makes the game worth playing numerous times over. Placing Gilbert in last yet Dimitri in first makes zero sense if you are saying so from morality. Gilbert is a loyal knight, and as those who have gone through his support conversations know, he harbors more self-hatred and shame than Dimitri does for failing to protect the kingdom. As such, he feels the need to be punished by the king, but the king is dead, so instead he punishes himself far beyond what one would normally accept. He does return to his family and support Annette if you work the systems correctly. I find him the most complexed and fascinating character. Deeply haunted from decades of war and hardened to stoicism, but he's a teddy bear once you open him up. Invite him to a meal with Annette, see how he reacts? Just watched the rest of the video, darn, all of my favorites were at the very bottom. Lysithia is the most boringly generic character. Always forgot she exists.

List of characters I disagree with the placement of! Gilbert and Catherine - I disagree with their placements because, while they do have objective personality flaws, I think they're interesting and their flaws are the reason they're interesting. Flayn - This is my funni little mint fish child and I will hear no word against her Sylvain - Same reason as Gilbert and Catherine, except I care way more about Sylvain because he's one of the best characters in the game. He is written exceptionally well, and is one of the better written womanizers I've seen. Felix- Another character in the "best character" club for me (why yes i did choose blue lions first how can you tell). Would articulate further but little reason was really given why he was so low Hubert- I love him so much. He's a fucking psycho and I wouldn't have it any other way. Petra and Ignatz - Probably the only ones that I'm going to say should be lower. They're fine. I don't dislike them. They do nothing for me. I like Annette way more than Ignatz (though that's probably because Annette is very cute and I happen to have a weakness for very cute things, particularly when they're female)

OMG IT’S CAINE! I love Three Houses alot! It is my favorite Fire Emblem game, my favorite Switch game and my favorite Nintendo exclusive! However it is my 2nd favorite game of all time next to Persona 5 Royal

47:18 To be fair, the historical spin doctoring Rhea and the Church did is more complicated than that. Nemesis had become a genuine hero to the people and never told anyone the source of the Hero's Relics or Crests. That final battle we see was a hundred years after Nemesis had started rebelling, and by that point his legend had already spread. Rhea had to keep Fodlan from descending into anarchy while also protecting her remaining family from those who would seek to repeat Nemesis' actions. Explaining the Relics and Crests as divine gifts simultaneously does both. People believe they can't be duplicated, so they won't try, and the continent believes its heroes were still good people, only one lost his way. It was an imperfect solution, but it was the best they could manage.

... Do you know how weird it is that Ari's reasons for not liking Hubert are the exact same as mine (well, except for being Paul von Oberstein without any of what made that character work)? It's kinda surreal.

Not gonna lie, I was a little sad to see Alois and Hanneman in D-tier. Alois is a loyal and good man, and as a Dad joke afficianado his were high quality. Hanneman may appear boring and obsessive at first, but if you look into his life and history he's actually a really good guy. He gave up his noble position after seeing how the Crest system hurt his sister, and is now researching them to find a way to empower everyone with Crest abilities. Hannaman is Syndrome if he skipped the genocide and terrorist attack and went straight to giving the power to the people.

My favorite thing about Golden Deers is that it's just a carnival of weirdos with whacky personalities and living circumstances, and then you just have Ignatz who is legit the most normal bystander in the game. His personal skill +20 accuracy is just proof of him having no BS in his life distracting him.

Not here for the Edelgard mischaracterization but I’m glad she’s still high on the list. She’s said out loud several times that she rebukes having to work with the Agarthans and that she sets up a meritorious democracy after winning the war and steps down pretty quickly and passes the throne and every territory down to people voted on by the people. You really have to read between the lines sometimes with her, but this stuff is actually stated
