Looks like a sturdy little pan! One tip for making it relatively stick free is to do the mercury ball test with a drop of water. It’s quicker to go look it up on Google than me trying to explain it here. I was a little skeptical, but ever since I’ve learned that trick I’ve never had anything stick to my stainless steel pans. It’s also quite mesmerizing watching the little droplets of water join together to form one ball then roll around on the pan… It’s my daughters’ favourite part!

Yes, good tip. Having the pan at the right heat makes a big difference. Thanks for commenting

I have a pan that has a similar bottom, it definitely distributes the heat very well. I'm disappointed that you didn't cook anything with it, because I'm hungry.......😘😁✌️🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️

Good review. I have the Stanley Outdoors fry pan which is about the same size and has a similar bottom. I've had the Stanley for a few years, but if I were shopping for one now I would probably go with the Firemaple.

G'day Mark, I'm with ya, the perfect unit in terms of design, materials and dimensions. With the high sides, I reckon it'd work for MREs too, if that's your thing, probably negate the need for a pot altogether and as you mentioned so easy to clean in comparison. Dig the inclusion of the pie dish, though would be nice to have a factory fitted one with a lip like a saucepan lid IMO, just to prevent any sliding off while in use. Cheers Duke.

I agree, an improved version of the pie pan to fit a bit better and still nest would be cool. Thanks for commenting Duke

Nice heat spreading base and the spout would be useful. Could be used in Trangia if one uses the pot stand.

Yes, the triangular pot support for the Trangia set would work. Thanks for commenting

Something I learned from Jeff Smith The Frugal Gourmet "Hot pan - cold oil - food won't stick."
@MarkYoungBushcraft
@MarkYoungBushcraft Год назад
Interesting. I find it works for me to heat the pan, then heat the oil to match the food. Thanks for commenting

Looks like a nice pan. Will you ever do a review containing this pan and different pans comparing them and their benefits?

Yes, I an planning a video on how to keep foods from sticking and will compare the types of pans then. Thanks for commenting

@hypo345
@hypo345 Год назад
No need in my opinion as hard anodised aluminium fills that role, it’s very good as a frying pan compared to titanium. Trangia have the Duossal pans which are aluminium exterior and stainless interior but not that thick.

How does it compare to the Stanley fry pan? Specs seem similar. Thanks Mark!
@MarkYoungBushcraft
@MarkYoungBushcraft Год назад
I don't have a Stanley pan but based on their listing, it would appear the Fire Maple is a bit bigger, has a pour spout the Stanley does not, and the handle folds the opposite way. The Stanley has a plastic lid. Thanks for commenting

Nice fry pan, but i don´t like the handle closing to upside, it should close to downside, because you can´t build a cook set to fix inside this fry pan with that handle. BTW it could if that handle was removed.
@MarkYoungBushcraft
@MarkYoungBushcraft Год назад
Yes, good point and as you say, the handle can be removed. Thanks for commenting

@@Semeion7 Double checked. Not as easy as I thought. Would take some modifications. I must have been thinking of another pan. Worth suggesting to Fire Maple though
