The up side of this type of stove, it makes it safer to use a windscreen. As a side note: I put the water and the eggs in at the same time, then put on stove and bring it to a boil. Let it boil for one minute, then take it off the stove. Let it sit for at least ten minutes with the lid on. I find that most of the time, it makes it easier to peel the egg shell off. 🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️

Right on. Actually, that is pretty much how I do my eggs as well. Always turn out prefect. Thanks for commenting

I like that the bottow of the burner rotates to allow flex in the steel braided fuel line.... excellent review and editing.

Amen, i cook daily on a cooker on top of the propane bottle. And I do have that problem at least once per week when using my skillet. I would really like to see a low profile cooker I can hook up to my 20 pound propane tank, and where the ENTIRE burner itself is VERY stable and tip proof! Thank you for this Video

Looks like a great stove and the swivel hose is a nice touch. If I didn’t already own a SOTO fusion Trek (pressure regulated) which is what Fire Maple seem to have copied I would purchase this stove. I much prefer remote stoves and with a HE pot this make a great combination.

Excellent as Always Mark,,, My thought was how expensive is something if Mark says it’s Pricey,,,??? I went to your provided link,,,What,,!!! Only $52 dollars,,,??? Brother Mark,,, that’s not expensive at all,,,!!! I was ready for $125. +,, that would be on the Upper end to me. I only wish that these would accommodate Propane like the Trangia gas stove. Great Review Mark,,,,, Joshua

Mark, What a superb review congrats It looks like an amazing stove I would buy but simply do not need another remote stove I would recommend it Simmer control is a vital part of a stove and cooking I have the Fire Maple Titanium Stove FMS-117T I simmer even to get to a boil, the fuel usage is minimal A large container of gas lasts three weeks in the field and 5 weeks in a kitchen Because i use the stove at so low pressure, I do not need the regulated pressure I use the same pot It cooks so well, fuel saver A great pot of lentils Question for you: Wind Shields; what do you have and how do you use then, for remote stoves and top stoves Thanks

Afternoon Mark,,, Great Review,,,, Fire Maple 🍁 just had a post holiday sale. So I picked up another Orange gas lantern and the Remote canister PR stove. Before making my purchase I emailed FM 🍁, and asked them concerning Propane. Eva,,from FM said Yes, you can run propane with their adapter. She said that the it will/ might reduce the overall output. When I receive my stove I’ll do a comparison. Maybe you can do one yourself and video your results. Could you review the Orange lantern,,,?? I’ve just ordered another one,, I really like them. Concerning Gasification,,, You were 💯% Correct,,!!! I stand corrected,,, Excellent Review ,,,, Joshua

I have used a propane adapter and it works great. Better in cold weather. Propane is just a bit heavy to carry. I do have a video I am planning that will include this but I need really cold weather to make it. Thanks for commenting

G'day Mark, like the concave burner on this model, as with the SOTO Windmaster, it does help in my experience. I have the Blade 2 Titanium job, you save all of 50 odd grams, lol. Its not pressure regulated but does have a preheat tube, sure different concepts, but any idea how the performance would compare to the regulated Polaris you showed ? I'm not so much concerned with altitude, more about cold temps. Any light you can shed would be appreciated and perhaps of interest to others also. Cheers Duke.

I have just the right kind of windscreen for that stove. It works also with alcohol stoves. 2 steel plates weighing total just 50g and can be fitted inside my Toaks 1 litre pot. I just wonder about about the advertising spam we get from aliexpress? I have been considering putting all aliexpress messages in spam mail.

Morning Mark. So here’s a question. I’m going to go on a car camping/hunting trip. What do you think of those full size butane stoves that have the spray can size canisters that fit inside the stove. They sell one model at Canadian tire for something like $25. I have to admit, I was sceptical, but this summer I took the family on their first trip with no services, not even cell phone service, and I was pretty impressed. But it was nice and warm, and it won’t be this time. I’m curious, with all you’re experience with so many stoves, how do you think they compare for performance? I’m taking a Martin one I bought at Sail, and my firebox (big surprise) as a back up.

Hello Mark.... In your opinion please, would you tell us the pros & cons as well as your thoughts on whether a pressure regulated stove is better or more useful all year than one with a pre heat tube please?? Thanks kindly...
@MarkYoungBushcraft
@MarkYoungBushcraft 3 месяца назад
Sure. Based on my experience, the pressure regulated stoves will be more useful most of the year. It will help with operation into quite cold temps but not well below freezing like -15C or lower. That is when a stove with a pre-heat tube is more appropriate. However, the pressure regulated stove is better than the stove with a pre-heat tube the rest of the year. It will operate with low gas pressure (almost empty canister) better than a stove with a pre-heat tube. Hope this helps

So if you wanted to burn pure cheap 100% butane canisters during winter when temps are below freezing, would you want this pressure regulated type of stove or would you really need one with a pre-heating ‘generator’ loop and to invert the canister to force the liquid to vapor? Which is best? I have a firebox titanium nano that as you have shown in one vid can have a gas burner adapted into it but the trangia gas burner clones don’t seem to fit properly, and although the genuine trangia gas burner does it doesn’t burn liquid very well and I’ve seen tests where it just pulses flaring up badly, while ironically the cheaper clones work quite well inverted but again they don’t seem to fit the nano properly? This Polaris looks like it could have the stand removed and be clamped into the base of a firebox nano? So maybe that could work if it would work well enough with 100% butane inverted liquid below freezing? Or is there really no choice but to use a stove with a pre heat tube that just won’t fit in the fb nano? Thanks for any suggestions :)
@MarkYoungBushcraft
@MarkYoungBushcraft 5 месяцев назад
Burning 100% butane in very cold weather will always be less likely to work well, regardless of stove design. Having said that, a stove with a pre-heat tube used in liquid mode does stand a better chance of working than a stove with a pressure regulator. Changing to iso-butane or an iso-butane/propane mix or even pure propane will give much better performance. I have not tried adapting the Polaris for use in the Nano or other stove but may consider it. The only reason I can see for doing so would be to save a bit of weight. Otherwise, I would use them as intended. Hope this helps

@@MarkYoungBushcraft thanks for the suggestions 👍🏻, really only hope for it to burn well at freezing point as that is the coldest it ever gets at the very coldest part of the early morning for my area in winter. Also from an affordability and availability view point 100% butane cartridges are very cheap and much more available than isobutane or 100% propane canisters. Every supermarket and hardware store in my area sells butane in multipacks, while isobutane is the most expensive fuel source of all and only available in specific camping stores at limited trading hrs and even then the 100g canisters that fit in ultralight mug pots etc are often sold out. The only fuel sources as affordable or similarly available are denatured alcohol found in all supermarkets/hardware stores/gas stations, or unleaded petrol from gas stations or finally wood of course. The ideal all-round combo in my area for camping and preparedness is probably butane gas and denatured alcohol with wood as a final messy sooty backup (when in the woods), and the nano can handle all 3, but want to get butane to work at the coldest temp realistically possible, and even then denatured alcohol would probably the quieter option early on cold mornings anyway, plus a preheat loop on a gas burner that fits in the nano for inverted liquid use plus sticking the 100% butane canister up my jacket for a few mins to get it as warm as possible etc might be enough even on my coldest mornings anyway. I may just have to find a way to make the trangia gas burner clone (which seems to work better in liquid mode than the original trangia gas burner) work as it seems to be the only burner with a pre-heat loop that seems even close to fitting in the nano? 🤔
@impermanenthuman8427
@impermanenthuman8427 5 месяцев назад
The best stove with a pre-heat tube to adapt into the nano might be the Fire-Maple Blade 2 Ultralight Titanium Backpacking Mini Gas Stove, it would be even lighter with the stove stand removed but I can’t see if once it is taken apart that it could be screwed into the base of the nano plus if with the pre-heat tube would still fit down into the nano too? 🤔
