I've noticed that the trend for the most part is that the coercion is coming from Marxist/leftist leaning professors. Why is that?

Both the left and right have ways of censoring free speech. For the left, it's political correctness. Which is very much so a part of college campuses so it's what you see here. I happen to be a leftist myself. For the right, it's religious coercion/shunning type thing. Where if you say something the religious right doesn't like, you are shunned. In both senses it's about censoring of ideas that they don't like and calling those who disagree with what they think horrible people. It's interesting
