Join me for the day on the Ohio River as we search for anything of interest. Arrowheads, fishing lures, and George Washington’s flintlock pistol 🤷♂️.Don’t forget to subscribe for future videos, Lots more to come.
The breech plug “tang” is upside down- half a turn. The “loops” on the barrel are under-lugs for holding the barrel into the stock with cross pins. They are on the bottom of the barrel, not the top! I bet that barrel has an fired load in it and the owner had tried to un-breech the barrel to remove the ball.
@@cleggsadventures I figured someone was trying to unbreech the barrel to remove a charge that had gotten damp and could not get the breech pug out ; maybe due to a very limited tool kit on the frontier. Now I’m puzzled why the breech plug was turned like that.
That's just like what I'm finding I really think they are paleo points that's been worked down. Killer find buddy. I love the way you hunt artifacts we have a river running through Lafayette Indiana where I live its called The Wabash river. Now it's not as big as river as the Ohio and it doesn't go up-and-down like the Ohio but do you think I could apply the same Technique as you are sifting wonder if it would work here on are river. And you're right about the fault lines in the Flint, I really believe that what snaps them to. Besides The ground freezing in the Winter time. Sorry it took me a minute to get back to watch your video but we're back to work now and I just haven't had any free time. I think that 1 piece you found was a drill pre form I find them too.O.MG you found a gun barrel wow what a find and did not even need a metal detector maybe you should get a metal detector out there what a find congratulations that's a great find that little crown is a mark from England. Killer finds Thanks you so much for sharing and taking us along on your adventure and as always keep on rockin..Great video Scott hope all is well Jeff
Jeff Ricketts jtr arrowheaad man Thanks man! I’m not sure what your river there looks like but, if it has eroded the bank and has a little beach, might be good. I found another one of those points last year with longer flutes, I think Paleo too. Hope you have some free time to hunt soon and keep finding those killers.
Love the gun barrel, you never know what you’re going to find. Check out a beauty I found last Tuesday. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k0zByucdPlg.html
I ain't having no luck here in western PA! Rivers too rocky,no sandy places,to many industrial disturbances along the kiski river and it tributaries ! Rail Roads,Coal mines ,Strip mines, and it's a shame cause I read where Indian towns were, but most locations are populated by modern communities and got tore up by industries!!
Did you ever identify the rifle barrel? If you can give me some info, I will try to ID it for you. From the looks of it on video, and because you said it had a crown as a proof mark, it looks like a English gun barrel. Are you sure it is a number '2' under the crown and not and 'S' or a cursive 'L'? Can you tell if it is rifled or smooth bore? I expect it to be smooth. It looks to me like a really old barrel.
Nice finds man. That point with the ban of translucent crystal is awesome. That gun barrel is really cool. Possibly a old trappers flintlock pistol?? Nice editing work man really like the drone footage . 👍 I would love to make it to Alaska one of these days. Good luck man. Safe travels 👍✌
Love the intro n exit footage...outstanding!! Awesome hunt Some really cool finds especially the rifle/shotgun barrel. Not sure if age...old GLHH next time bud d
That's a freaking awesome find Scott! I recently have discovered your channel buddy. To bad you live so far from east TN! All my artifact hunting buddies are all long gone now. I do hunt solo but I always enjoyed company on hunts! If you ever come down towards bristol I'd take you to a few cool spots i know of ✌️
Always fun watching brother! I can tell you and I would be good friends! Of course the finds are the best, but hey.....I like them arrowhead rings you showed in a few pics! Very cool! 👍
Needle tips on that lure, hey now cool shots of the dark and bloody river, love the show good finds all around for sure,im curious about the Paleo,it could be🇺🇸stay free🐺
The 2 spots on the barrel are where the forearm/stock was mounted to the barrel. It's a shotgun barrel i believe.Old muzzle loader.Well after George. George was on the river. He was with my direct descendent, Christopher Gist he lead him into the Ohio valley in 1751. As part of a expedition to claim the land that the French held across the Ohio, the Indians fertile hunting grounds.Wild story for history buffs.
Great vid, gotta keep those bearings!! People have been losing guns in boating accidents for a long time, let me know if you find mine. Lol. Watch some of my Alaska vids.
Awesome video man! That’s what I love about the rivers, you never know what you’ll happen upon! Just found your channel, it’s sub worthy my friend. Keep up the good work!
Points 365 Thank you very much.👍 You’re right, hard to tell what you’ll pull out of the water next. It’s like fishing, ya just never know when the big ones gonna hit.
The gun barrel looks to me like its from a pistol, they could be quite long back in the day, and the markings seem to indicate it is British from during the reign of George II who died in 1760.
Great video Clegg. U have some of the best drone coverage I've ever seen. That thing sure does fly pretty high. Thanks Clegg... Til the next video, which is coming right up. I admit... I'm binge watching ur videos lol
Wow thats really cool short too like a pistol precushion cap or flint lock or possibly a shotgun cool find man like the sifting technique too work smarter not harder
I would love to know the story behind that barrel. Give an update with any info you find on it please. Proof mark definitely looks British but I can find that exact one
Hey, In one of your more rescent videos you found a small bone. The bone is the toe bone of a deer, We find alot of them on Ft Ancient sites where they would cut the thick end off and hollow it out and make a small hole in the rounded end and they are known as Tinklers!
Scott that was some great fines brother! Love the new drone footage love the new camera angles love that gun barrel! Looks like it’s from across the pond me your baby to River Crossing there and I had to duke it out with the Indians! Great stuff glad you got a bunch of new material low in the water I always thought that stuff got down in the river and I will be gone if the water was too high.
Awesome finds! Check that barrel dude, it might have a charge (bullet) in it! Of all the examples of early flintlock pistols I've researched, I couldn't find any that have sights or anything that would explain the two pieces on the top of the barrel. If it turns out to be a pistol barrel, measure the muzzle opening, 3/4" = .75 caliber and 11/16" = .69 caliber. Knowing the caliber and the length of the barrel can help in identifying its age.
bones&stones 65 A friend of mine identified it for me. It’s a 1750-1815 British Sea Service pistol. The loops I thought were sights, are actually the bottom of the barrel, and would have had pins through them to hold it to the stock. The breach plug tang has turned out of position, making it look upside down. It’s a 12” barrel 54 caliber. He said the exact date would have been stamped on the stock but unfortunately we only have the barrel. Still looking for the action, maybe find it some day but it’d take a miracle. 👍
