Wolfenstien's art direction is very gothic & heavy metal inspired, which you can definitely see in a lot of this reboot's franchise, and I do really appreciate they went that direction when it came to depicting WWII weapons before the timeline divergence that these games take place in. If they went ahead and made the period-correct weapons actually look period correct in terms of details, it's fair to say they would've stuck out more and wouldn't've felt like they would've belonged, rather than the more stylized approach they chose.

the thing that makes Johnathan so good at this is that he's not just a gun expert, he also knows a lot about videogames. That's something that often falls flat with these "experts react" videos, they'r generally only experts on their field and not in what they're reacting to. It's not as fun to watch a train heist expert react to a movie with a train heist in it if they don't know a thing about film. Someone who does would be able to point out limitations the director would have had to deal with, the quality of the special effects, how impressive the cinematography is or how the cinematic language conveys the emotions one would feel in a real heist. I wish more "experts react" series would understand that and get someone who knows about both of the things they're reacting to

Jonathan, With regards to the MG46, the Gatling '42, it took me a bit questioning that to come to a why with the barrel shrouds - The shroud was also part of how you changed the barrels on the 42, and if you're going for that extra-high rate of fire, a gatling setup saves some of the barrel wear, but it's still going to happen with a gun like that. So having it in a position in the field where it's going to wind up with that problem, having the ability to quickly change its barrels makes that aspect of maintenance easier. Of course, BJ dismounts it and goes John Rambo with it, but as you said - in his case it's rather comic-book like.

13:55 the big thing on the side is the Alt-Fire of the machine pistol which fire heated rounds, hence the smoke stack look

I will say this every week. Either MGS 4 or MGSV there is so much detail in the weapon makeup that I think this would make a great video

The changes to guns like the thompson make sense in the timeline too. In the 40's part of the game, it's already 1946 and the allys aren't doing as well as in real life, so having more upgrades and changes to the weapons might make sense.

The Machine pistole has an upgrade option for heated shot, so the 'smoke stack" is presumably the heating device

I kinda love the design of the auto shotgun in The New Order. It is just so big and over the top with the side clipped box magazine and the top cover you flip up like it is an M-60.

New Colossus had pseudo blueprints of the weapons shown in the upgrade screen that may have been interesting to show Jonathan...

Funny thing about the New Order Thompson is that I think it's supposed to be a version of the Thompson that's chambered in .30 Carbine. There is an existing prototype that was submitted to the light rifle trials that was essentially a slightly beefier M1 Thompson and I can't say that it wouldn't be neat to see something like that being what was ran with as an ad-hoc Assault Rifle.

The game starts at 1946, because in wolfenstein uniwersum D-day failed and the war went on for longer, so thats why weapons looks already futuristic. Not to mention the germany was even more technologically advanced than it was in reality. Also, the "laser" gun was very similiar to this DMR gun before, but these were 2 diffrent guns. Also the autoshotgun in the first game propably had 2 barrels and that why it had the 2 "luger thingies".

Let Johnathan react to Pavlov/pavlov shack. The level of detail on the m4 is so high that the locking lugs on the bolt actually rotate

It'd be neat to see Johnathan to check out Receiver 2, given how absurdly detailed the guns are in the game

For the STG I can only guess the two round things on the side could be some some sort of recoil mech. Maybe ingame version shoots like a ultra hot version of the round. So it needs extra springs to contain it. Unless you want the bolt flying and smacking the rear of the receiver every time.

14:30 the guns have a very slight c96 look to them, partly due to the broomhanble grip, and the box shaped receiver.

12:32 while it is cannon that they are related to each other being the doom guy is a dependent of Blazkowics, make sense they would load the shotgun the same way.

In previous destiny episodes you guys showed Jonothan guns, but not the perks on them. I'd love to see him react to a weapon like lumina having a chambered compensator, or tresspasser having a mag called ricoscet rounds. There are deffinitely more wacky mag and barrel options on other exotics (tractor cannon has extended barrel) but i cant name them off the top of my head.

The thing about the StG 46 (Assault Rifle 1946 in-game) is that it also has a Foldable Vertical Foregrip, mounted underneath the Handguard. Well, I say Handguard, but since it's made of Metal, it doesn't really do much to protect you from the heat of the Barrel. This one might make sense, for a number of reasons, the most important ones in my book: much more Stability whilst holding and aiming the Rifle, and more protection of the forward hand from the Barrel. Blazkowicz doesn't use the Foregrip though, so it's basically unnoticeable when the Player wields it.
