Me too but the same episode was on Talking TV channel on Saturday, if you can get the channel I think that it’s the start of a series of 60’s shows and it’s easier to watch on a full screen than on a monitor or phone screen. I’m in England so I hope that all who are fans can watch it.

You have described my plight exactly. I loved this show as a child in rural WV. Once as a young adult I woke yelling loudly "FIREBALL XL5". Scared the girl I was with. Snippets of my early childhood are roaring back, the curved takeoff ramp, the rockets falling off after liftoff and others.
@RayPointerChannel

@@vibhadeshpande6925 and Vikki Colbert, people not around 60 years ago tend view things only from what they have been exposed to. One of the amazing things about these old shows is the intelligence that went into the production both in craftsmanship, as well as the writing and acting. Today, everything is a parody or derivative of "impressions" of what they have been exposed to without any depth or understanding. But most of all, there isn't much originality. Just a lot of inane and incessant dialogue with weak story material, if there is any.

Strange, it was so long ago, yet as soon as I saw this I was six years old again. The definition and sound are amazing. I too had a toy spaceship and I love the retro futuristic designs. Fireball sung by Don Spencer. I wish I was a spaceman the fastest guy alive I'd fly you 'round the universe in Fireball XL5. Way out in space together, conquerors of the sky. My heart would be a fireball, a fireball Every time I gazed into your starry eyes. We'd take the path to Jupiter and maybe very soon we'd cruise along the milky way and land upon the moon. To a wonderland of stardust we'd zoom our way to Mars. My heart would be a fireball, a fireball 'Cause you would be my Venus of the stars. But though I'm not a spaceman, famous and renowned I'm just a guy that's down to earth with both feet on the ground. It's all imagination, I'll never reach the stars. My heart is still a fireball, a fireball Everytime I gaze into your starry eyes. Fireball, fireball Everytime I gaze into your starry eyes. Fireball, fireball Everytime I gaze into your starry eyes✝️

I agree with all the others, I'm 67 and have always had foggy memories of playing with the XL5 toy ship and bit's of the show... I also wondered most of my life what happened to the show.. Then I saw the beginning of this episode with the Hoverjet's on "That thing you do" and it confirmed that my memories hadn't failed me! I LOVE the art form and these were done so well... the craftsmanship was so impressieve it is just a joy to watch! OK, maybe a little Corny now, but still a total pleasuer to relive the memories in the past... It fuled my interest in this medium that when I had my recording studio I was given the opertunity to do the entire soundtrack for a stop motion short in the 90's I jumped at the chance, It's here on youTube and is called It's a true stop motion and great story, so if you enjoy these marionette works of art please feel free to check it out, you wound be disappointed!

The creative process was painstaking - no CGI back in the day!

This was shown on TV the year before I was born 😊 Managed to see a few when they were shown in the 80's I think. Good fun 😊

The coolest opening of any TV show ever. Sled rockets to space!! I'd love learn about the prop and set making. The marionettes - meh - who cares? But those sets? The rocket blasts.

There's a book about the series written by Sylvia Anderson.

The vehicles actually were a workaround as the marionettes could not convincingly walk. Gerry Anderson embraced this workaround and turned it into an art form.

The real start of the Gerry Anderson world, with all due respect to Torchy the Battery Boy, Four Feather Falls and Supercar. This was the first time to see global organisations, uniforms and ranks, buildings and of course the amazing machines, which became the model for XL5, Stingray and Thunderbirds.
