Firebox Stove Dutch Oven Slow Cooked Braised Lamb Shank

Hi all.
I decided to longer film near home due to the car noise, then the road was closed due to a sink hole, and it was quiet for once so I thought it would be nice for me to cook there which makes filming a whole lot easier as I tested out my new camera, so I put up my tarp, got out the Firebox Dutch Oven and cooked a beautiful braised Lamb Shank for lunch.
The Dutch Oven has really served my purposes well in recent cooks, I find the size to be perfect and am quite enjoying the shape of it, it lies sturdy especially without feet on the bottom.
If you are a regular watcher of the channel you will know which products are my favourites due to the fact that I use them often, my Firebox Stove, Trangia 25. Kelly Kettle etc. etc.
I also love the cast iron cooking and I have a few pans which I have had for years and a reversable griddle too, I can't recommend this new Dutch Oven enough, and it sits with my revered cast iron products most nicely indeed.

Thanks, this Dutch oven system is proving extremely useful. I see people with channels getting stuff sent out to them and then you never see the product again, whereas this I just find to be an essential go to for what I do👍. I really love it, thanks for sending it.

Full bushcraft mode today Chris. Nice meal. I looked up the cast iron as I’m a big firebox fan but the postage was horrendous. It’s really car camping gear so I let it pass….but it is nice😂

Cheers man, I am planning a camp soon and I think this will be handy to take with me in the car, that said it's probably the one bit of cast iron that I might consider to carry out with me sometime, not too heavy but I can store the food and the firebox in the casserole part so I might give it a go. Nice video. A keyhole fire makes it easier to regulate your cooking temperature, especially with cast iron. Brown the meat first, then set it aside. Then add your onions and carrots. They will help deglaze the pan alone with adding the marinade.

That is a scrumptious looking meal...I'd be up for a nap after that! On a past video you cooked a chicken/veggie meal in a Potjie that you were not sure of it's size. I am torn between a #2 or a #3. Have you figured what size you have? A #1 holds 3 quarts. #2 holds 6 quarts/ 1 1/2 gallons/10" X 10" approximately. A #3 holds 8 quarts/2 gallons/11" X 11" approximately. I can't get to see them in person, so it is difficult. Yours looks close to my needs for size but what size is it? It's hard to order by saying it is the one that NEO used in his video!!! Sorry, never got the hang of metrics.... Love my Firebox camp items and my Kelly Kettle too. Happy Spring from Eastern Oregon!

Hi Lezley, it's all getting quite expensive now. I remember oxtail being a cheap cut, I made oxtail ragout, next time i went to buy it it had doubled in price because suddenly it was trendy! Lamb for Christmas sounds lovely. Keep well, cheers Chris
