@burningphoneix that like saying would you rather have a gun or a knife the knife if way more "rugged" but with the gun it is way way more efficient and puts you in less danger,so I would rather have a "high tech plane" than a rugged one

@vodkasvictim I'll look around for a source but I'm pretty sure Flight Lieutenant John Peters was shot down over Iraq with an Igla (SA-16) shoulder launched missle and I'm sure another aircraft by the RAF was shot down and the Saudi Airforce lost one to AA as well.

The Tornado is a great aircraft but was ill suited for the runway bombing missions. The flat terrain and low flying altitude made them easy targets for shoulder launched missles. Also, Give me a Gripen over a F-35 anyday :P

@aarrmmeenndd100 Sounds like the F-35 program has been mismanaged pretty bad. F-22 should be cheaper if we made more of them like originally planned. Anyway there are going to be thousands of F-35 made so price will go down as more are made.

I can agree with some of that. And if they replace A-10 with F-35's ... sigh.

@aarrmmeenndd100 I think having manned aircraft is the better way, sure pilots and crew are in danger then but nobody trusts unmanned drones its different to be in the cockpit pushing buttons than to be 100 miles away in some room on a computer pushing the buttons.

@aarrmmeenndd100 F-22 wasn't canceled they just reduced the number built. I don't think it's just the expense it's that we didn't need that many Raptors when Russia and China are running so behind with their 5th gen fighter, and that we already have a huge number of fighters compared to them. F-35 will be more hesitant to reduce or mess with since there are so many countries involved with it. They all put in a lot of money. Maybe cost will go down when they are produced.

@aarrmmeenndd100 Between what the F-35 and F-22? If so then F-22 way more beautiful.

Gripen? you're crazy lol, not saying it's a bad plane but it really can't compare with F35. US, UK, Italy, Netherlands, Canada, Turkey, Australia, Norway, Denmark all getting F-35 maybe they don't know anything about aircraft :)
