Jeez, I had no idea the Mirage III V even had existed! We should have just let the French build the Next Gen fighter instead of the disastrous F-35 project that by the time it gets fully fielded will be obsolete (if it even becomes a viable platform) :-/

Mirage III V is not the "mirage 3 -5" but the Mirage III verticale! A mach 2 version of the Balzac V-STOL demonstrater. One is preserved at a museum in Paris. The JSF og 1967!

I beleave the mirage is still an amazing weapons platform capable of undertaking any roll needed. The only problem is poor electronics since USA owns the most advanced electronic systems. US airforce relay on this advantage and has allways prefered to rather have more heavy lift fighters than fast low lift planes as the mirage. But i still think the Su - 27 (and it's variations) is the most overall blanced fighter. Plus is a beatifull plane.

In Red Flag exercise awhile back , a single experience pilot F-22 went against 3 Red Flag F-16 Aggressor pilot, it ended in 3 F-16 loss with the F-22 loss. Only because the last guy saw what happen to his buddy's after they were taken out. The F-16 close in and both the Aggressor and the F-22 pilot made a gun kill on each other. that's 3 aircraft for the price of 1 F-22. sure the Mig-21 can do it, but at what cost.

@1st503rdSGT Never thought of it that way, but I bet dassault would have sold a whole lot more Mirage 2000s and Rafales abroad if the Israelis had used them in combat. Although I doubt that Mirages would have done any better against Egyptian SAMs than F-4 Phantoms and A-4 Skyhawks. Did Mirages have ECM equipment in 1973?

@Clavier35 Right about the F1 I mixed that up with 2000. Typhoon is a multirole aircraft. Gripen costs twice the amount of a M2000 and is just slightly smaller/lighter. Sweden has a smaller aircraft industry and has a hard time competing with other aircraft industries. They have more customers than the Rafale though.. So beside mixing F1 with 2000 what other points do you have for saying I don't know French aircraft.

Yes, because the US is willing to pay through the nose for lots of stuff it doesn't need. However, they generally stick with US contractors (well, "US" contractors, these days), so for the rest of the world, it doesn't make much difference.

OK, what years of the pacific war where US aircrews were suffering up to 100%. As far as I can recall. The Japanese fighter planes only had the edge at the start due to inexperience Allies pilots trying to out turn paper kite planes like the A6M Zero or any other Japanese fighter plane which all have the same requirement which is maneuvering over armor protection. Which is why Japanese most aircraft burst into flames with a few rounds of machine gun fire.

The original mirage was the british fairey delta 2, the brits gave it to the french they put some guns on it and called it mirage. See greatplanes of the world documentary part 2/3 on youtube. Another great british plane.lol.

TOTO CACA The Romans and the Indians invented warm water. We did give you the Fairey delta and you put some guns on it and called it Mirage. But we did invent most important inventions, just ask the Japans, Government survey which found that 55% of the worlds most important inventions come from the UK, 23% from the USA 6% from Germany and 3% from france.

The Dassault Rafale is probably the last pure French fighter jet after dissapointing foreign sales numbers. Dassault is already working on a Gen 5 or 6 fighter in cooperation with Germany. A test prototype will probably be available in a few years...maybe. Sadly, whatever comes out of this collaboration will probably be obsolete in a decade. When the photonic radars are operational all Stealth fighters will be pretty close to totally redundant.

@McCoolVIDIO You know everyone says that but it's also wrong. Sure the pilot is what matters but he can only do what the plane allows him to. Good pilot in old outdated planes can lose because of that.

pilot training is 90% of the game, why do you think US spends $2mil to train the average pilot? because in some WW2 dog fights against Japan, with comparable aircraft, they suffered massive losses, up to100% loss, while the Japanese suffered zero, so they realized numbers don't matter, it is training first and foremost, a good trained Mig 21 pilot, with the right missile, decoy, and jamer equipment can fool and shoot down an F22 or Pak-Fa, or whatever

@OlderG0ds Mirage 2000 is between F16 and F15 F 16 has won in Europe the conquest for multi role aircraft against Mirage F1 a different aircraft Typhoon is not multirole and a poor challenge for Rafale in all aspects Gripen a cheap light fighter for small air forces and parades You don't seem to know much about french aircraft ....

Who ever made this film need to get there facts right. The mirage was the fairey delta 2 designed and developed in the UK only 2 were made, not a french design and when the UK government did not go ahead with this very good british plane they sold it to france.

@EdwardRommel Mirage (2000) is not as good as F-16 but a good competitor to it. It doesn't have as advanced radars, electronics, avionics etc, a T:W of 0.9 (F-16 = 1.1), less engine power 21,000 lbf (28,000 at least for F16). Most other flight characteristics are similar. F-16 had beat Mirage for several European countries choice of multirole fighter. Gripen is better than Mirage 2000, but is newer. Best air to air fighter is the F-22 Raptor. I would say best multirole is Typhoon.

You need to reread history. AKA the the Great Marianas Turkey Shoot were USN F6F Hellcat accounted for 75% of all aerial victories with a claimed 13:1 kill ratio against the A6M Zero, 9.5:1 against the Nakajima Ki-84, and 3.7:1 against the Mitsubishi J2M The Japanese ability to fight in any air war after The battle of Midway is laughable at best. Since most of Japan well trains pilots are dead. Any thing past 1943, Japan suffered horrible loss in the air.

Example I think abuse is not a human being, but you may think it is just part of human being. Decide yourself what will be recognized. Note, I have been living in a serious war zone and clearly noted what those aircrafts can do? Both side involved in the war said WE ARE SAVING HUMAN BEING.... So you might be better to go and sit inside a war zone and "think differently" as you said, then come back to review this comment.

Because your idealism is nice, but it does not make any sense. Your own well spoken words say it best. "Decide yourself what will be recognized." That is exactley what they are all doing. You have been living in a serious warzone. Ever stop to think that maybe both partys really believe they are saving people. But they both think differently and both have different believes. Maybe one party is lieing like a sack of shit and really doesn't give a shit. Either way, they all think differently. That is exactley why these jets and every other kind of weapon are a nnecessity for humanity. Because there will always be people who don't think the way you do and might even think radically. You want to stop wars? Then you have to make sure people all think the same way. And that my friend, is impossible.
