Thank you. This tip helped me solve my sound problem. All I needed was a software update apparently, and this method helped me get my AVR working within 5 minutes. 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you very much. We have had our Yamaha (similar to the one in this video) for about 10 years. The HDMIARC stopped working properly (displaying volume, menu, etc...). I looked at the back of the unit and saw there was no ethernet plugged in. I ran the update and voila it works nicely again. Thought I was going to have to repair the unit. I think there is solder joints starting to fail though as when it gets cold enough it has to warm up to function on the hdmi output. Will have to see if the update resolved that too but I highly doubt it
This was a fantastic help to me thank you. I just bought a Sony A90J 65 inch sadly my amp is the RX 581 so I don't think Dolby vision will work. I'm just going to plug my UHD blu ray player & my Apple Box directly into HDMI 3 & 4 Dolby vision is,detected then luckily the sound still works on my 7.1 Dolby speakers. TV was €2900 in sale so a new,amp will have to wait until next year.
Thanks for a very clearly explained video. If I may ask a question about the eARC. So does it means after updated my receiver to eARC, my Tv (has EARC) can send uncompressed Dolby Atmos to the receiver?
Hi I've got a rx2040. It says Ive got an update on the on screen display. I followed your method(as well as the on screen display method) and got to he verifying part but then I get 'device error' any reason why it gives an error
I purchased the Yamaha RX-A1070 This update works with this model as shown here. A few years back and you have this then you will agree it is a power house of a receiver But looks like it will be up for sale and I just knwo I am going to lose 90% of what I paid for it. UNLESS........... Will this firmware Update give me e-ARC Ohhhhhhhhhhh please tell me YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS and how to access it. Your video woked as shown in your video THANK YOU I am a dad also, your son is a cutie, { haha I am not naughty so cute } Regards from Montreal, Quebec
@@HowToDoitright Thanks for your speedy reply!!!! Do you now have access to eARC on your Yamaha ? Hope it does for both of us, it will save us thousands of Dollars.
@@HowToDoitright Just to follow up I had word today from Yamaha I was informed that eARC in ' NOT ' available after the firmware update. " RATS " So my sRX-A1070 is up for sale Which bring me to ask, Have we all been fooled to think we were getting true Dolby Digital with our ARC high-end systems?

Was just given a Yamaha RX-V485 that says "Internal Error" when turned on. Supposedly a common problem if unplugged for a long time and not used. I've heard I can re-image it via the USB port and it will fix it. Can someone verify this? Thanks
Something seems weird. I suggest try a different router. Maybe take it to a friends house and then try it if you have a different router. I vaguely remember something similar happened and it was a router issue.
Make sure you download the update to your computer, then unzip (extract) the file. Then save the .bin file to the root folder on the USB drive to do the update. Otherwise, it won't work.
I did a USB update to firmware 2.86 successfully. Now I can connect MusicCast to the receiver as well as connect my bluetooth headphones. In the receiver menu I now have a SEND (bluetooth transmitter) working and the bluetooth headphones sound good. I can't figure out how to adjust the bluetooth volume?? any help would be appreciated. thanks
