Thanks means a lot! Trying to grow the channel by focusing on modding the SV then getting a second bike to do adventures with and mod along the way. So the SV is not going anywhere but there’s more to come then just SV650 content I can promise you that!

Also the frame sliders may help to avoid getting your legs caught under your bike if you fall. That can prevent serious damage to your legs and feet. One friend fell and got caught with a bike with no sliders and took more than 6 months to heal his legs. He says that with sliders the damage would have been less serious. I got some Puig sliders installed on my 2018 sv, doesn't look as good as your barracuda tough.

I've got an Akrapovic slip on, Cogent custom setup rear shock and spring, Vagabond fender eliminator, the Suzuki frame slider kit which looks much better then many of the aftermarket ones. Spools, and swapped the shiny stock levers for the blacked out stock levers. Aside from the rear shock to support my size, BY FAR the very best upgrades I've made to the bike are switching tires so I am on a 170 rear instead of the stock 160. Absolutely transforms the bike, cannot overstate that enough. And I added the Spears Racing shorten shift linkage and what a difference it made. Now I can get the shift lever exactly where I want, and the travel is now what I would call normal having since ridden other bikes. Feels like it should have been this way from the factory. Best $70 and 10 min install you can get.

I went with the Scorpion Serket Taper slip-on in titanium for my 2018 SV650. I initially wanted the carbon fiber but didn’t like the way the fiber was laid. Love the titanium, since even though it’s not black, is very business-like and not shiny like stainless. It’s built well and fits great. Another plus is it will never need repacking. It has two separate baffles so it’s highly tunable for sound. It sounds great, not too loud.

Just found your channel. I had a 2003 ‘Pointy’ SV650S back in the day. I now have a VStrom 1000, but it’s not getting used anywhere near as much as it should be, so I am contemplating swapping it out for a 2020 SV650 (probably matt black & red?) Couldn’t agree more on the end can, fender eliminator. Perhaps R&G crash protection too?! The SV is a great bike & the 2019 with the improved 4-pot calipers. The brakes are now awesome 👌🏻👍🏻 I’m now a subscriber for the UK 🇬🇧

I like riding a quiet bike on Saturdays for 30 to 50 miles, and a louder bike on Sundays for 30 miles. I leave the back lights stock for more visibility, so I am less likely to get hit from behind, especially if I go on and off the brakes a few times so the back brake light blinks on and off. My favorite mods are a thicker, more comfortable seat since my legs are long enough, and adding an extra 3 inches for the windshield height for less helmet buffeting at 75 mph. My third mod was Pirelli Angel GT 2 tires for street riding.

@@SmokinMonkeyOG Sure it will do. The v-twin engine is one of the best and most reliable twin engines ever made. Of course you have to do some important mods because the bike is not expensive. My 2017 SV650A mods so far: 1) Vagabond fender eliminator. Makes the bike look better, IMO, just as you described. 2) Scorpion Serket Taper slipon. Looked great. Had it on for a year and a half but put the stock muffler back on. The sound was ok, but to my ear, it was not that much different from the stock sound, just a little louder at low RPMs. I think the Yosh carbon (not the Yosh stainless steel) sounds much better than my Scorpion. Also, regardless of whether the baffle was in or out, the Scorpion seemed to make the bike hesitate, misfire, or run rough at low RPMs, particularly when decelerating. Does the Yosh do that? Lastly, I kind of like the fact that the stock pipe is quiet at low RPMs when I'm just puttering around and louder at high RPMs when I'm cranking the throttle. If I do get another slipon, it will be your Yosh carbon. For now, I'll ride stock. 3) G2 Ergonomics throttle tamer. For me, the best mod for this bike by far. This replacement throttle tube practically eliminates the snatchy, jerky throttle and makes the bike easier to control at low speeds and around slow corners. I was shocked at the improvement. I was about to get a Power Commander or Bazzaz but tried this first. I'm glad I did. Installation was easy and it only cost $70, US.
@SmokinMonkeyOG
@SmokinMonkeyOG 4 года назад
Hmm never actually heard the scorpion in person to be honest but the yoshi is louder at all rpm and has a deep grumble when at idle. I have had a bit of hesitation and slow throttle response when I first put the pipe on but after around 500km it’s running great. No problem in low rpm or anything. It runs as it should, doesn’t backfire or pop much on downshifts but I’m guessing that’s because of the catalytic converter which I plan to get the cat delete pipe to solve this in the future since we don’t need to emissions test motorcycles here in Canada. Good luck on getting the exhaust you want! Ride safe man!

PCP deal they offered me was about the same as I pay for my iphone...tempted isn;t the word..only thing putting me off is that the season here is coming to an end so not sure how much im gonna be riding over the winter here..should I just wait and but next spring or take the plunge? this is how I found your channel

Hey man thanks! I actually did the same thing as you, I looked for a bike at the end of the season (for both bikes I’ve purchased new) and put a deposit down on it in January. I figured nobody is going to buy the bike before me since it’s end of season and they usually have great incentives on the old bikes they have left from the previous year. I actually purchased my SV650 from the dealer just as they picked it to be a demo bike. So I got the discount for buying the demo but it was never even used once. 2km on the odometer when I picked it up. Good luck on getting yours! Just watch to make sure nobody buys it before you. I don’t know how fast they sell where you live.

I am 5”8 185lbs. Can i flat foot it? Is it top heavy? with covid-19 all dealerships are closed to sit on one.

Look up the seat height and compare with a bicycle or something that is same height. I believe the 2017 SV 650 is 30.9 inches high to the seat from the ground

I'm 5 9", I can flat foot my 2001 k1 SV650, my seat is 805 mm (31.7 in). You should be fine.

The first things I did: Change the clutch/brake levers so I can use them more effectively (also rotated them down a bit inline with my knuckles). Adjust the shift knob and rear brake because it was high as fuck. Replace the pads to sintered ones and grease the floating pins, now the rear wheel can come up under braking. Edit, I forgot, I also did suspension preload really quickly. That rear had to be set on 4 out of 7 or something. Soft as fuck. Same with dampening in the front. Needed more. Edit again, another think I got was spools so I could lift the rear wheel and do maintenance. That helped a ton. It's how I store the bike.

do you buy all your mods online ? can you please hook up a link for your favorite websites, i like fortnite but they dont have much to choose from for my 2019

Ya I’ve bought everything online. Mirrors are off amazon, most of my stuff is from fortnine like the exhaust, gear I wear, tail bag & fender eliminator. Some things like my frame sliders I get off revzilla.com not .ca because the selection usually is garbage lol and of course suzukiparts from Suzuki.ca like my seat and my meter visor. I’ve also bought a windshield off fortnine that I tested. Might sell it if you want it, it’s the Givi one I reviewed

If you want to reduce splashing after removing the rear fender Puig makes a rear fender hugger for the bike. I wish it went a little further over the rear tire but it does help reduce the mess while looking sporty. I have the same exhaust, same sliders, and switched to bar end mirrors. Another thing I did was wrap the exhaust up to the cat and seal it with DEI black high temp silicone spray.

Nice mod list man lol I’ve been looking at the rear tire hugger myself might just pick one up. Also thought about wrapping the exhaust but I like the look right now so might leave it. Who knows lol Ride safe out there!

Sorry but i have a request 😂 your turn indicators are hiddeous, this is definitly one of the first thing to change, put some LED ones, they are way way more beautiful and way more visible by other drivers around you...
@SmokinMonkeyOG
@SmokinMonkeyOG 4 года назад
Personally I’ve seen the thin led ones and it doesn’t look that much better to me 🤷‍♂️ maybe it’s just me but I don’t see myself changing them yet. They don’t bother me at all lol would rather put that money into a decat pipe but I’ll see maybe I can pick some up cheap

one remark, if you have a new bike its best to do this mod (the sliders) at the dealer's. You may lose warranty or insurance in case something goes down and they establish who installed this part - its stupid simple but it gives arguments to elaborate on.
@SmokinMonkeyOG
@SmokinMonkeyOG Год назад
You could say that about adding air pressure to your tire yourself….. the sliders have nothing to do with safety so not sure why insurance would come into play here. As for warranty, any dealer can tell you they’re not gonna honour warranty for any reason they like it all depends on who you’re dealing with. Definitely never heard of this and I don’t agree
@block672008
@block672008 Год назад
@@SmokinMonkeyOG Where did I say the word safety? Read with uderstanding - I am talking about the dealer's / insurance company field of discussion once a problem with the bike appears, possibly involving anything incorporating engine or chassis mechanics, that may be elaborated on the owner's unjustified intervention in the the bike during the guaranty period. The sliders / crashbars are, in this case, fastened by the bolt on which the engine block is suspended. This is not about your own assumption but the info from the dealer that I got. Besides, any time anything goes wrong you get asked if you were professionally entitled to perform any service actions or installation of add. parts in crucial areas (in this case engine support) not being an authorised brand garage....tell them the same crap you did in the comment:) Cheers...

Sounds like you’re scared of voiding warranty to the point that you don’t enjoy your bike…. That’s sad
@block672008

@@SmokinMonkeyOG sounds like I'm realistic and like my money right in my pocket, so I can spend it on a better helmet or jacket instead, rather this direction I'd say:) But hey, this approach might sort you out a solid life philosophy though if counts for enjoying once's bike for you. Yet I rather tighten this little bolt myself once the warranty period is done...
