@@TechandDesign exactly as you have shown, i can't even look to see whats on my external drive

So the reason I usually ask that is because sometimes people just don’t watch the entire video so they don’t follow all the steps or miss understand a few steps. So that’s why I ask - what did you try exactly ?

@@TechandDesign I did it exactly how you did it, the drive just ejected by itself, without me unplugging the cable

there are programs that will help you recover some of your info but it’s never guaranteed and nothing I can personally recommend because of this

So what problem do you have with your external exactly ?

@@TechandDesign Thank so much for getting back to me so quickly I am truly grateful to you. Well, my external HD was formatted last week and I transferred loads of music and videos to it. But earlier this week I could no longer see the external HD on my mac El Capitan, so I went to have a look in Utilities and I could see the HD there but kind of obscure and I could not do anything with it, but it also showed which was full which is impossible as it is a 2 terabyte and I know that there would be more than enough space on it and it was then that I saw your youtube video and I was wondering if I did the First Aid part I was worried that it might delete all, or some of the contents in the HD. I also did a check up on the HD in Preferences and the HD is also in there. Then I also change the ports at the back of my Mac. I tried all of the ports but that did not help either. Thanks again and I hope that you might come up with some solution. John E

How did you initially format it ? Journaled ? Exfat? Did you eject it before unplug from your Mac every time ? Do you see it under finder ?

I wish that all other youtube channel users would do the same as you, instead of just ignoring and never replying, so thank you so much for following this issue for me. Anyway, back to my external HD with regards to your questions. The answer is yes I did formatted originally using Journaled and yes I can see it on Finder when I go into Preferences and check the information on it. No, I did not ejected the HD before unplugging or turning off Mac, never. Thank again so much for your support. Have a great weekend. Regards John E
