I’m sorry to hear about your husband, my dad had a 1930 Model A truck which we never quite finished and my older cousin/big brother loves working on vehicles too plus has a shop so I talked my mom into letting him have it to build.

@@stacyreid5077 Hi Stacy it took us a year to completely finish it but was new from ground up, I think we had more fun with it before it was painted. Was back in the 80’s, there was 4 couples of us we had a lot of fun. I am 84 now and a lot of memories. Hope the Model A pickup gets restored someday

Very cool jd when I put a new line on my work truck I usually use our 10,000 lbs forklift to wind my cable in on the winch is 30,000 capacity

I used to drive Medium duty wrecker for some time and in my opinion safe locking hook are the best, syntetic one/soft shacle or that warn "shackle-hook" combo are nice easty to handle etc. but its just me... i pull this self locking style hooks through hell and back and just for me they are trustworthy. Stay safe!

This was a very interesting video. I've been a Huge fan of the WARN WINCHES that I use on my Jeep and my 73' chevy pickup and have yet to experience any problems with this brand. I've used the winch on my truck to get a large Ford pickup with a truck camper out of a local lake that goes dry in late summer and it gets very Slippery when breaking through the dried out couple inches in lake bottom and many other times where people got stuck in the mountains. I'm planning to set up my F350 Super Duty with a WARN and bumper for when I am camping in the mountains with my 32' Toy-hauler just in case I'm having trouble with getting to or from camp. Love your videos JD. 👍🇺🇸

Great job! Make sure you release the wheel motors/tranaxles on the zero urn before you push/pull it. Otherwise they can be damaged. Putting it in neutral and disengaging the parking brake isn't enough.

The newer Warn VR remotes are not rechargeable. They run on 3-AAA’s. The cord is just in case you prefer to run wired or the battery dies.

Jd, FYI, you should not hook back to the line. It will cause damage and possibly cause a failure while pulling that could get someone hurt.

Watch some RU-vid videos on synthetic rope breaking. If I remember correctly they also snap back with tremendous Force. For some reason there's a misconception out there so I think you're still supposed to take the same precautions as metal wire\line. Using sandbags \ weight bags, stay out of the danger zone. Etc. Thx for the video.

A roller fairlead is OK with synthetic rope but make sure to get new rollers when switching from SS cable to synthetic. A burred roller will quickly damage the synthetic rope.

You must have turned the hydro motor dump valves on the mower without showing that very important point so you don't drag the tires and possibly damage the hydro system. It is a big caution in my zero turns owners manual.
@TheEllercousins
@TheEllercousins 2 года назад
That was also my concern. If you don't open the dump valves, the hydraulic system will be damaged. It's almost like towing a car in gear. It may not show much of a difference right now, but it will show later on.

Those are all good upgrades, but I still think you are gonna wish you had gotten a longer trailer so when you load your real tractor 🚜, not your lawnmower, you can also carry some of the accessories that go with it. But I guess you have the gooseneck for that, but then you got this trailer because the gooseneck has that short load break over ramp that won’t allow you to haul it all either.

Either fairlead is fine. However, watch for burs with synthetic line causing frayed line!😳

I'm assuming you have never towed anything that is hydraulically powered. You can ruin the pumps by towing with them engaged to your drive wheels. In fact it voids your warranty by not releasing the drives. Your dealer should have told you that. But hey, they have pictures in your owners manual.

As a viewer, I love the content, but as a crane operator, the state of that winch gives me shivers.
@BigTruckBigRV

What's wrong with the winch?
@kyleaustin21
@kyleaustin21 2 года назад
@@BigTruckBigRV The winch itself is awesome, what the matter is, is the wrapping of the rope. When the layers are wrapped unevenly, excessive wear is the result, as well as tangling within the winch.
@Harry-zz2oh
@Harry-zz2oh 2 года назад
@@kyleaustin21 When I first installed my winch, the instructions were to place a load on it but use my hands, wearing gloves, to guide the line onto the spool. I did so and found it works very well even with the line extended out about 80 feet for a vehicle recovery. I was off road with my 4x4 club and we needed to help another off roader get out of a bad spot. One other thing about the synthetic line, you do need to cover the winch or yearly spool it out and wash it, then respool it. I was told I would need to do the same with a metal line but just spray it with a bit of oil to keep it from rusting.
