This was the maiden voyage of the Crawler Hauler and Bugout Camper! I wanted to take advantage of the recent good weather we were having, if only for a short time. I'm gonna make some tweaks here and there but overall this should be ready for some major trips this summer. I hope you guys are ready!

I guess there's about a billion RU-vid channels with this sort of content. But the reason I tuned back in was just because a few months ago I saw you set out to build something you wanted to build and now you have gone and built it. I like that sort of thing. Doesn't matter much what it is. Well done on building something you wanted to have.

Nice build. You might consider some type of shade cloth that would allow you to “enclose” the rear cargo area to provide shade while stationary. It should be pretty easy to attach to the upper deck that you could roll down when needed. Do it on both the left and right sides and just deploy as necessary.

You do so much modification already, that this shouldn't be a big deal, but you should really consider some tie down points on the trailer that will allow you to tie the jeep down by the wheels or axles. Body tie downs are incredibly dangerous as they allow the suspension flex to effect the load securement (i.e. going over a big bump, the suspension will squat, loosening the straps, and then snap tight again as the suspension rebounds). This can easily cause a securement failure or premature wear. Just my $.02 from a once-upon-a-time trucker. Freaking love the build though. Wishing now I had bought a trailer just a couple feet bigger so I could do the same kind of thing! Keep up the good work and the videos on your fabrication of this beast, and the next one I'm sure you're gonna build for the JLUR.

If your not afraid to fork over some cash rinai makes an awesome wall mount furnace that is quiet and has a modulating flame rate so it won’t kick on and off, they are really efficient I have heard. I don’t know about you but anything with a thermostat and is quiet is perfect for a camper. I think the rinai pulls about 40 watts is all. Thanks for the video it’s giving me good ideas for a build.

I love the trailer build. Looking to do the same in the upcoming months. I did notice how your rig was strapped down and I wanted to recommend not doing it that way and just strapping the axles down. The reason is if you strap to the body above the suspension it will brake straps. If you hit a bump the suspension will compress and give you slack then the rig will pop back up and over a little time you will brake them. Just a pointer I thought you would like to hear.

I would also suggest strapping to the axles or some other point of unsprung mass on the Jeep. If you were to hit a big bump and the jeep suspension compressed, the resulting force from uncompressing could break a strap.... just my 2c but by all means whatever works for you works. I LOVE the build. I’ve been following it for a while. Makes me wish I would have sprung for a longer pj trailer instead of my 20' haha
@Hickeyjones
@Hickeyjones 3 года назад
Great job on the trailer. Another reason to strap the axles down versus the frame body is ride quality and less wear and tear on trailer components. I've built several trailers for Jeeps, and the Jeep suspension will soften the harshness on every pothole your trailer hits. That equates to fewer trailer tire and trailer axle issues.

Man that deck and fire pit is nice. Nice work so far. I still think you should consider either a drop down bed from the roof, either a brand name like euro loft or if you are up for a challenge a DIY version or even a murphy bed. A drop down bed would give you room for a coach/lounge are inside, a desk for video editing/working and indoor kitchen for those rainy ways when the rain comes sideways and you will be exposed to the elements if you cook on the deck. And a drop down bed also means you don't have to make your bed every morning/evening. Just hoist it up/down and catch them zzz's. Your deck and sky lounge is awesome man.

I don't know if you have any issues with flying insects or wind/rain but maybe an addon of either a roll-down net screen and/or a roll-down water-resistant/proof tarp (or awning material) walls for the sides/back of your hauler. Then even if the weather is not great you can still cook, relax, etc. You could even have a doorway with zipper, windows like some tents have, the list of ideas goes on and on.

Interesting build. Don't see many of these types of vehicles/trailers. Have you thought about adding a way to add/remove heavy duty tarps or fold out awnings to the sides of the open space where you cooked for extra weather protection when the trailer is stationary? I guessing your roof is not 100% waterproof. but some sides may provide you shelter from some rain for cooking or maintence on the Jeep. Good Luck.

It needs some led pods that run off the solar panels, also put toilet & shower being you have a twin size bed.

@@CodeBrownProductions what is the length of your trailer? My sami is 12 ft.bumper to spare tire so I'm thinking I need a 24 ft trailer. I would like a little bit bigger cabin for me and my wife. Ps love your videos makes me want to go to moab even more . Keep doing what you do.
