I absolutely loved this video because it is SO reminiscent of the conditions we ski in in Australia. That there is pretty much a standard Aussie ski season, and the marginal terrain you get into hoping against hope for some miraculous fresh, just like you did, is hilarious. Great vid - can't wait to see if you managed to snag any more opening day shenanigans!
Thanks Tristan! Hilarious I got the full Aussie experience. Maybe I need to start trickling in terms like mate and headless chook while I'm messing around in the low snowpack! More vids coming!
Thanks dude. That's the goal! I've been pouring everything into these vids over the past few years. The larger I can grow this channel, the cooler vids I can make.. Still just barely scraping by, but having a blast! I appreciate you commenting and sharing with any of your ski homies.
have you ever thought about insulating your shell on the truck bed so its warmer when you sleep? just an idea for ya big dog! enjoy that snow!!!!! wooohooooo!!!!!!!!
I've totally thought about it, but mainly use the truck for summer camping so I've never got around to it. Would be a fun project to put some insulating carpet on the walls when I can afford it :)
@@riseandalpine another idea you could do is an electric blanket that plugs into a battery bank of some sort or a heat pad for the floor...keep shreddin big dog!!!!! its to bad you are so far away id love to shred the mountain all day with ya...im in northern california.
Saying "It looks good..." and then immediately smashing a rock is the quintessential early season Alberta skiing experience! Boots in the passenger footwell is my favourite trick. Nothing better than nice warm boots in the morning.... well, maybe the actual skiing, but warm boots are pretty nice :P
I was so stoked when that snow dumped on the North Shore mountains two weeks ago, only to see an early season melt away. Good news is, tonight is the night it starts falling again for almost a week it appears. Hopefully Cypress will open before December. Love the stoke you get out of early season skiing, that's what it is about, for me at least, blue bird days are the bonus
@riseandalpine hell yeah, better get my skis waxed so I don't go arse over T Ts like I did on my first Whistler turn when my pants were clipped into my bindings.
The drive is like 9 hours but probably a tad more if the weather doesn't cooperate. If you have good snow tires you're all good to get to banff from van.
I use them every day when I get home from the hill. Take the liners out and plop them in. Since I live in an apartment a bigger boot dryer takes up too much space.
I have some (different than James'), and they're awesome - it makes allllll the difference getting into warm, dry and slightly malleable shells. Reviews on the ones he linked are good too - I think they're absolutely worth it.
I haven't been on the hill in over ten years when I was 19, coming across your channel had me itching to get back out there. Would love to see a video at Sun Peaks🤙
James your enthusiasm is infectious! The STOKE is real! Love your vids & vibe! Got a Rise & Alpine sticker on my Ripsticks. Keep doing what you do. All good 👍- and we are doing hot 🌶🔥 sauce shots ... and sharing with anyone we can.
Stealth camping is the shiznit dude! Here's a super old and crappy video (my first ever) but it shows the full build, and the mattress that I use for the summer. Simplicity is key, some people really overcomplicate builds for show. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BNmbcHGWlwg.html I also wrote a guide on how I built it if thats helpful:riseandalpine.com/2021/12/04/how-to-build-the-perfect-truck-bed-camping-setup-step-by-step-guide/
@@riseandalpine Last week of April or first week of May is your best bet. Would love to see you lay out the dad turns on all 4540' of vertical at Timberline
