lol, don't think too important about yourself. Most Chinese people don't care what other countries think of themselves. The CPC doesn't need to give money to video bloggers to promote itself.
wow, the seats looked so comfortable even the standard seats. The business seats are incredibly comfortable. And the speed is so fast that can go up to 350KM/h. And 20 years ago, this was not even existed. No wonder, the US is feeling so insecure that it does everything to create anti-China sentiments around the world on a daily basis. You cannot bring down others in order to show you are better than others. I would say to the US, please work harder to compete with China instead create baseless accusation against China. Thanks for sharing your personal experience showing what is really going on in China.
Yeah, been on once. The normall class is much more comfortable than normal class of a plane. Premium economy doesn't even have such the amount of leg space on a normal HSR ticket, which truly surprised me when I got on.
Lol, did he even mention the U.S. in this video? Why does everything in China always revert to a conversation about the U.S. You guys are obsessed with us. This just makes you look insecure. It's okay, there is nothing wrong with 2nd place. 😁😆😂
@@deebil8099 It is the US government and media are the ones who are so obsessed with China and everything China is doing. The US is the biggest control freak and dictator to other countries. It dictates and imposes what other can do and cannot do to fit the the interests of the US but at the expenses, misery, suffering and destruction of other countries. If the US can stop the minding of China's internal affairs and other countries' internal affair, the world would be much more peaceful, stable and prosperous for all countries to enjoy.
You people def deserve a nice HSR, it will help more people come to Nepal and visit the birthplace. And more people visit Nepal more money the local people could make.
@@user-ct7tz4tu4h I've been to Japan for a couple of times, and i can speak Japanese, you should come to China and discover by yourself. ARIGATOUGOZAYIMASU.
I was originally from Shanghai and completed my bachelor degree in Nanjing. I have been in Boston for two years for graduate study and I found Shanghai is much much more convenient than Boston or NYC. Thank u for sharing such a amazing video. It really brings back a lot of memories of my college days.
London (King Cross) to Edinburgh is around 531km. Now there is a high speed train called Lumo, which can cover the journey in 4 hours 38mins, with top speed of 224kmh (140mph). Shanghai to Beijing is 1318km, the fastest hsr can cover the journey in 4hrs 49mins, with top speed of 350km. Good video, compare and strive to improve.
I rode business class from Nanjing to Shanghai in 2017. It was a great trip and my daughter enjoyed Shanghai Disneyland Park. I love China's high speed rail. P.S. I am Chinese American and I got paid 50c for this comment.
@@paulhou8432 I was being sarcastic. Chinese high speed rail is awesome, and this has nothing to do with politics. Comments like 'how much do you get paid by the CPC for promoting this?' are retarded.
Well, speaking building railway in America today, here in Washington DC, our Metro Silver line extension of total 37 km, all on the ground, no tunnel, no bridge, costs more than $6.8 Billion and more than ten years to finish. While China just helped build China - Lao highspeed railway, 414Km, with long bridges and tunnels, costed only $6 Billion, finished in three years. So, how much do you expect to spend on real highspeed rail in America? and how long do you want to wait?
here in Canada, Toronto, is expanding a subway line, 7.8km, started in mid last year, will have 3 stops, and will take 8 FUCKING years to finish 7.8 km that if every goes SMOOTHLY. I almost kill myself laughing when heard about Canada in the news trying to compete and bully China LOL. No joke, the west talks BIG and do SHIT.
@@elon6784 Stop talking nonsense! The US and other western countries are the most evil countries in history when it come to slaves. They salve hundred millions of Africans from Africa.
a small correction. The China-Lao highspeed railway is 1035km long. 414km is only the part in Lao. It took 12 years to build it. It could has been faster, but the elimination of bombs droped by the US during the war has slow down the work.
Since you have arrived in Nanjing, may I suggest that you should visit n make a video on The Nanjing massacre memorial museum. I have visited it a few years back. You will see what the Japanese did in December 1937. Please go there n make a video for the whole world to see. Please please please. Most appreciative Thank you very much.
Japan massacred 300,000 innocent people in Nanjing, captured young women as comfort women, and held a killing contest. The data show that 45 million people died when China fought against Japan. Many cities were bombed to the ground by Japan, and ancient cultural relics were destroyed. What is infuriating is that Japan now does not recognize history and does not accept apologies. They even built the Yasukuni Shrine to worship those terrorists who invaded China before. Therefore, the Chinese do not like Japan. This is understandable. Thank you for understanding China's history and respect you
If you take a long journey next time like Shanghai to Bejing , must try the business class, and the takeout service in bullet train which you can order McDonald or even hotpot, that would be lots of fun.
In USA, people usually travel long distances by planes. But in China nowadays, trains are the choice of the people. I don't know if anybody has calculated the fuel used / carbon emission per km by planes versus trains. I would think that trains are more fuel and cost efficient than planes.
@@Johnny2Feathers Plane accidents are more fatal, planes are more cramped, more expensive too and for some trips actually take longer because there's not nearly as much waiting time for luggage, check-ins, security checks etc. for high speed rail in China. Also there are pretty much no delays unlike flying.
@@Johnny2Feathers Not really, if you travel in US, getting to and from the airport, checking and claiming your luggage, passing thru airport security check would cost you more time and money. For the safety of traveling, rails and air are relatively safe.
Bro, that high speed train is something that we've been trying to build here in California for the last 30 yrs and still have not completed.. We just do not have the political will. Every time a new State governor is elected the project goes on a different direction. Project cancelled, restarted, cancel, restarted, out of money.... etc. Our high speed rail project is plagued with corruption, over-budgeted, stalled, and slated to be completed by 2030 for one short line from Fresno, California to Bakersfield, California. Its pathetic.
The purpose of building the HSR in California are for the politically connected people to get rich. That's why it will cost overrun, delay, postpone, extension, cancelled, restart..... repeat the above processes 10 more times before it will be completed.
OMG, Luke, you got me rolling on the floor laughing about the comparison. In Australia, they mooted about the Sydney to Melbourne standard gauge railway line since 1947, and after four feasibility studies amounting to $104 million, not a single inch of a track has been laid. One commuter was asked at Sydney Central Station about the proposed rail link, she asked whether how many reincarnations she will have to undergo before she can travel on it. What a joke as they say, talk is cheap and it is just to scam the voters of how insincere they are. If they stop demonising China and try and contain the inevitable progress of China, the resources and time would be better spend on infrastructure including railways, HSR or not.
You do realise they're bad loser and incompetent btw human right is their song, hegemony is their food, war is their business, genocide is their property :).

Different from the First Class Seats being the best rank on a plane, China bullet train First Class Seats belong to the middle class, between the normal Second Class Seats and the deluxe Business Class Seats.
Hello! From 🇮🇳. Have watched end # of Vlogs on High Speed TRAINs as I LOVE TRAINs. However, have never ever watched a vlog alike YOUR's. As it's just not only informative with every possible detail that WE can think about but was also involving, crisp and to the point for sure. Keep it up.
Thanks for the wonderful video, Luke 😊. It's great to see you're enjoying yourself in the middle kingdom. Back in 2013 when I first landed in Shanghai, I remember even back then Shanghai already looked like Hong Kong/Singapore. When my colleagues(ex) and myself crossed from ShenZhen to Hong Kong using their train system, I was taken aback to learn I can watch TV shows in their train carriages. It blew my mind back then. After watching this, I'm looking forward to return to China and catch up with my friends. Keep up the good work!
Britain high-speed rail network planned for the northeast of England has been scrapped. The US Los Angeles to San Franciso speed rail has been scrapped as well. Don't think the UK or the US will be able to construct a national speed rail network this decade.
How about letting the citizens smoke the weed and in their stupor dream of HSR? Would that be as good as the real thing? Of course they can if they stopped strutting their warmongering stuff around the world causing death, chaos and mayhem. No brainer.
@@etow8034 Do they have pink carriages at the back for women as the women are constantly sexually molested on Indian trains? They are groped and felt when they entered a normal carriages and hence the pink one where each commuter must be a woman. Such sordid setup.
lol,one of my friends was so excited when he heard the gov would start the high speed train project because he‘s living in LA and his son was in SF. Then gov said it would take tens of years. He might even not need it at the time but at least there’s hope. Then after years and spending million of dollars gov decided to give up the project. No hope at all
I recently visited my friends who live in Shanghai for 3 weeks and honestly China is living in the future, such an amazing place and people. So much to do and see.
I plan to visit China. Will take the high speed train to travel from city to city. Your video certainly will give me a good look of the different classes on the train. Thank you.
3:54 "2/3" is an understatement, as of 2021 end, China has 3/4 of entire world HST. Also, that speed 350km/h to run marathon, only takes 7+min, not 10 min.
Well i said under 10 mins which is still right, thanks😉 I just saw the speed and tried to calculate but couldn’t quickly think how many kms are in a marathon hahaha (i know 26 miles)
@livinlavidaluke 42.195km, magic number, 8+ fold ish will be 350, so 60/8ish was my mental calculation. You are totally good, I come here to support you, not fault finding.
@@_._._._._._._._._._._._._.____ knowns, marathon=42.195km, 1h=60min. Hst speed =350km/h, with which to run marathon, solve for the time to be used (in min) Fast flash in head in 0.3sec, 350 is approximately 8 folds of a marathon distance, thus translated as, 60min can run 8ish marathon, then just do division mentally, to run 1 marathon needs how much time? It's 60/8 =30/4=15/2=7.5, round up a bit for the "ish", u can feel the time to be used is roughly 7.3min, That's it, all these can be done in head in 5secs. Actually u can change unit at the beginning of calculation, 350km/h =35km/6min, now a marathon is about 7km more than this distance, u luckily find 7 is just 1/5 of 35, by this rate, u know it's gonna take another 1/5 of that 6min, which is 1.2min, add together it's 7.2min, consider marathon has another 195m, so 7.3min is a fairly accurate estimation. it takes 5sec to do these in head as well
China's HSR actually earns more profits than American train when run empty with only 5-10% of the passengers on board. American trains are losing money and 99% of the time they are empty. Meanwhile, as you can see in all of the HSR videos in China, the trains are packed full!
Thank you for your lovely videos. I can’t wait to visit China. I particularly would like to visit the town you walked through that look like something from history. I watch a lot of Chinese productions and that town took me straight back to dynastic times. Absolute magic.
Waoow what a beautiful ❤️ 👍 really awesome. Great 👍 video luke. China high speed rail network is really outstanding and incomparable. China be the futuristic country in next decade. I really want to visit China once in my life and explore from my Naked eyes. By the way I'm from India 🇮🇳 and here also bullet train is proposed from Mumbai to Ahmedabad.
U can literally find the ticket window inside the security and go change your ticket to an earlier train instead of waiting there for an hour doing nothing 😂
I doubt the high speed trains are earning much. China built them to help spur their economy, and to provide efficient in travel and comfortability for its people.
It was never meant for profit. It was meant for movement of goods n people. With that economy will increase n people will prosper. Meaning it is for the BETTERMENT OF THE PEOPLE N THE COUNTRY. For the people, by the people. ZHONG GUO wan sui wan sui wan wan sui
I took business class when me and my wife went from Shanghai to Hangzhou and we had a two person leather couch very comfortable. Also our car was at the very front where the driver is.
Wow! I love the business class. To be able to lie down horizontally and comfortably sleep in a train while awaiting to reach our destination is such a luxury. And the price of rmb 520 is so affordable. And the train traversing 1200 km in just 4 hours at 350 km per hour is just so amazing.
Very familiar with Hongqiao Rail Station. Next time you get there too early, you can go to the ticket counter to see if there are earlier trains. If yes and there are free seats you can change your train without extra fee.
果丹皮 - looks like a dried fruit rollup? I googled it and it is appears to be hawthorn berries, that has been made into a fruit roll or fruit bar made by Lyfen.
Your questions are so intelligent Eh! looks like you need to learn a lot in real life. Life is to short to stuck in one place or choose to stay in the darkness .
There is one thing that causes confusion. Most foreigners got the idea from airlines that first is the best then business then main cabin. But in Chinese high speed trains, business is the best, then first then second.
If I had £1 for every positive review and feedback I’d given, I would be very rich indeed! I first went on a maglev train in Shanghai in 2011. It travelled at over 300km per hour, clean and comfortable! People who suggested that payment was received for the positive review measured their mean standard against other’s.
Welcome to China and thank you for sharing. By the way, I also have a travel channel. So far all about China, I really want to travel to Britain and take some travel videos.
The female staff on the bullet train was checking passengers' tickets, rather than passengers forgetting to buy tickets. You can't even get into a bullet train station without buying a ticket.
