I am completely agree with you ! I love to go to China ! I am 77 y.o. and I am waiting for 2 years now for the Chinese customs to open and I am eager to go and forever stay with my wife in ShenZhen . I spent 54 months in 9 provinces during my 12 years of visiting China ! I would have wanted to visit China at your age ! You took the best decision for a wonderful present and future life !
What you said about the public safety in China is very interesting. Western media and governments have been condemning China for the prevalence of surveillance cameras, accusing the Chinese government of violation of human rights and using them as the means of totalitarian oppression and control. Meanwhile, response from the Chinese citizens and foreigners living in China has largely been that they have no issue with the supposed loss of privacy. In fact, the response has generally been that they love those cameras because they make the whole place very safe, as you said.
If you r afraid of the government watching you on the streets, then u probably should stay at home 24/7, bc PEOPLE r watching you if you go outside. The government isnt watching u when you r at home having an orgy with your neighbor's dog. I mean, why the west is so freak out of security cameras, when cars, homes, like literally, there r security cameras everywhere.
In facts, if you have 1.4 billions people to rule. You will not give a damn to what them do in everyday. Technically, it is just impossible to spy such a population. the CCTV , in most of the time, are on the track of criminals.
The west misuse the data they gather. Not just for legitimate surveillance. We saw that with many western companies and their governments. That's a fact. So it's natural they would think that China would do the same. They are wrong. China is clear that surveillance data is for surveillance, and only used for criminal and terrorism investigation.
@@peppery310 That's exactly what I wanted to say, and then I saw your comment, and it saves me some typing. If one thinks that a government would want to track and spy on 1.4 billions people, I would say he is out of his mind.
I don’t live in China but have visited many cities in China over the years and I totally agree with your list, especially using the metro and high speed trains.
Oh man. My friend and I went to China for some travels in 2018 (Guiling, Zhangjiajie, Suzhou, Hangzhou and a bit of Shanghai) and we have been dying to go back for some more but due to Covid it's obviously not happening. Anyways, whenever she asks me "where do you wanna go after Covid's over" I'm like "China, for sure." The infrastructure is just so good. When we traveled around US we realized for some reason their cross state trains are slower than car travels (and we weren't keen on driving ourselves in a foreign place) so...after eating away our shock, we had to take planes.
Great list...and yes, being able to go anywhere without having to bring cash is a big plus. I really wish more countries adopt the cashless system as expansive as China does.
On this point alone, nobody is accusing China stole western technology . Any country which goes cashless to China extent will probably infringes on China IP.
Thank you Luke for sharing your top 10 list about what you like in China. I would say one out the the ten being the most important is safety. Either for men or women, old or young aged, rich or poor safety always matters.
Indonesia is going to have its first HSR line from Jakarta to Bandung in a few months time and they are going to conduct road testing from November onwards. Thailand is also building HSR to connect from Laos to Malaysia and Singapore. If a 3rd world country like Indonesia can have HSR, why can’t the first world nations like Australia, Canada and the USA? Walk the talk or talk the walk? Stop endless debating, time to do some work and build HSR.
Shanghai is a great city to live because it has everything we need-peace, prosperity, convenience, advanced development, speed, culture, and history. If you want to see what China looked like in the past 100 years, Shanghai is a place to visit.
You will have different scenery in different seasons in the same place in China. Ancient poets would write poems on the same lake because of different seasons, because they felt different feelings. Heilongjiang in winter is different from Heilongjiang in summer, and so on. The most amazing thing is that when you visit some landscapes, you will learn about some different histories. Because of China's long history, everything becomes interesting.
Was in Shanghai few years back, what you said was spot on. Convenience, metro, safety etc . I took the metro from tourist attraction 'Yue Garden' to airport which took an hour or so and cost me 7 RMB.. couldn't believe how cheap it was.
3:20 Fun fact: The north-south span of China: 5500 km Same as the distance between London (UK) and New York (US): 5500 km Distance between London and China (western-most point): 5600 km Distance between London and Beijing: 8100 km Distance between Helsinki and Beijing: 6300 km
Thank you for sharing this with the world. Totally agree with you that China is the safest place in the world! Lucky you are living in China during the pandemic 😷
The safety and low crime is a big attraction to me. Full employment. Everything is so convenient. The infrastructure is that of tomorrows world. The many different peoples and cultures Living in a country that promotes peace and prosperity.
Happy New Year. Wish you are making good progress on your research. Your list is both uplifting and depressing. You listed things that we don't have in Canada but would be really nice to have, and most likely will not be here for years. Can't wait for the pandemic to be over and visit China again.
@@Noah-od4my Believe or not? there was no pollution at all in Beijing in 1985? I went there in the 1980s, there were always sunshine, blue sky and white clouds almost all the time during summer. 😂
My dear friend, thank you so much for sharing your real experience in China, thank you so much for your objective, rational and honest comments regarding living in China! Actually I came to Sydney in 2006, I have been here for almost 17 years, but I found many Australian still think China is a poor, dirty and uneducated country. Some of them still have a very strong bias for Chinese people.
Adding one: street is clean since those people wearing orange uniforms are constantly sweeping the street, (those looked like middle aged people, untie /uncle... )👍 👍 👍
I actually am a true 6'4" and still sometimes have reservations about the places I will visit. Especially at night. I am 53 years old, but I was similarly cautious when I was 23. Things have probably deteriorated during that thirty year interval as well.
The Tier 1 cities can be expensive, but you can still live an affordable life! It also depends where you’re from, i used to live in Oxford which was much more expensive than SH
Another foreigner telling us the true from within China. 👍 All these great things about China is achieved by a group of people who is united and care about the people of the country.
Thank you so much for being so courageous to tell the truth and rebut the malicious, groundless and indeed false reports about China. Couldn'T imagine how come the western media, while promoting justice, reality, unbiased reporting, could frame all these false reports to stigmatize China, how come these western media could be so hypocritical!
I hate to say this but here in the US the media are telling people Uighur culture, writing, religion, books, festivals, music, dances, etc are banned in China! And here you are telling us you are experiencing these things about the Uighurs in China? Well, somebody is lying and I don’t think it is you!
If you traveled to Xinjiang when China boarder is reopened, you will find what the western medias is doing and they are the anti China propaganda source and spreading the lies and rumors about Uyghurs worldwide.
I like the new e wallet the official will distribute for to the winter Olympic visitors, It said you do not need to open bank account in China just pay cash to the any local bank in china so the e wallet is loaded with the amount you pay, and can be use to purchase any where off line even without internet service. It is true like you have real money in your wallet.
I would so much love to be able to move to China one day... meanwhile, I am living vicariously as I watch your videos and those of like minded vloggers...
@@livinlavidaluke Thank you Luke... I hope so too... Perhaps we could go to Guangdong province and enjoy great Cantonese/ Hakka cuisine.. I am Hakka, btw... :)
Hi , thank you very much for your high appreciation to China. I am your new subscriber from HK. I was borne here and educated under the British governance. I think safety is the top importance in every country. I am 63. Now, I am not brave enough to go to Europe by myself, although I want to travel there after the covid. ( I have been to Europe many times when I was young. )
Nice to hear your ten reason why you like living in China. Next could you do ten reason why you don’t like living in China? Besides not all countries are perfect. It’s also interesting to hear about what still needs to be improved.
@@LindemanRichard We are all humans with blood, living on the same Earth. We should stop comparing our countries to eachother and let politics run themselves.
Hi Luke ! One more item should be added to the top of your list is…”Food”. All big provinces or cities in China have its own distinguished and delicious food. Also, in all first-line cities in China, you may have best Michelin restaurants serving best Chinese food from different provinces, and also international cuisine from all parts of the world, eg French, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Indian food and many, many others. 🎉🎉🎉
Tq for the information, yes certainly, China I am coming, just cannot wait for the border to open up. Food, Pub and train ride from South to North, east to west will be in my itinerary. Wow
I thought, In Shanghai staying at home, buying off Wechatbor another platform and having it delivered and the choice of saying yes thats what I ordered or saying no, and being refunded within 2hrs or so. 👍
Yes, human beings can look great when they are all civilized and controllable. And even better when uncontrollable and unprofitable people are removed. Please help anyone, Allow more of anyone to come into your home land to live.
