Today we make our first test cuts on our new 5x10 STV CNC Plasma Table!
Join Brandon as he and the team go from the first steps in setting up and moving the plasma head around, to cutting aluminum and steel up to 3 GA!
We do our best to provide helpful information along with our cuts, but if you have any extra questions about which settings to use or any other plasma cutting/plasma table questions, leave them in the comments and we will do our best to point you in the right direction! Keep in mind we are also beginners at this point!
One important thing to note, we realize the video says we found that standard consumables cut as well as fine cut. What we meant to say is that this applies with the 1/16" Aluminum and at higher Amperage. However, at 45A we found fine cut to be better with 11GA Mild Steel.
Our plasma table is the SparX Pro 10 CNC Table with the Hypotherm Powermax85 torch head.
Thanks for tuning in, see you next week for Today in The Shop #10 when we work on the 2021 Yamaha Raptor Dual A-Arm Conversion Kit Install!

Cement mixer from harbor freight filled with nails. Clean parts well. And you can be doing some else while they run.

Is the water level too high? I've never seen anyone cut with water on top of the material like that. It seems like it would shorten the life of the consumables as well as alter the resistive reading it uses to control the arc. I'm a total newb to CNC and don't even own a table yet - I'm asking.

We have had to do a lot of experimenting with what is in the manual for each material and thickness. We've found that by far the most important things are good, new consumables, cut speed, and cut height. It took us many months of experimenting to find the right settings for our few material types.
