Great review. I bought the fully loaded UK first edition 290 bhp D4 diesel version R Design XC40 in crystal met white. It looks premium without shouting flashy. Engine has lots of torque and I get 38-42 miles to the UK gallon on average with suburban driving. Comfort safety and tech is off the scale, and the sporty R Design's slightly stiffer suspension copes well with cornering, not bad for an SUV. In fact I really can say it puts a smile on my face every single day I drive it, and I've had mine a year now. That's a lot of satisfaction for the price.
I booked this XC40 fusion red colour and estimate to be deliver on March. I tell you guys this is far better than GLA200 which i booked&cancel later for this.
I don’t know why you bother mentioning Aisin vs ZF since the X1 also uses the same identical Aisin transmission. ZF don’t do a FWD 8 speed hence the reason BMW have moved to Aisin for their torque converter option. It would be better to care BMW’s implementation of the Aisin which does shift better. That said, getting the Polestar upgrade for the XC40 seems to improve the ratios between gears and I notice a big improvement over the non-polestarred version.
i'm wondering if those rubberized interior material will get sticky after sometime? Coz usually these material are great to the touch at first but over a period of time it gets gooey...
Saw this car when i was at PACE. Nice car overall. The only issue I have with the car is the rear seat. It's far too upright for my liking and the thigh support is lacking.
XC40 is a handsome looking compact suv, but I reckon it should be a 2 door coupe (like evoque) rather than odd looking 4 door. pretty tight and small rear door/mirror. not very comfy at the back, or perhaps they design it only for kids, dogs and cats
I find the XC40 pivoting dog guard boot grill way better than the dog harness, you can pivot it up when not in use and it sits against the ceiling in the boot but I leave it in place as it's not intrusive.
BTW BMW X1 uses the same Aisin gearbox as the Volvo and not the ZF as mention by you! Shifting quality should be similar so no biased reporting please!
Proton vs Volvo Toyota vs Lexus VW vs Audi vs Porsche vs Bentley vs Lamborghini vs Bugatti Does this mean that I can buy a VW and get a Bugatti? If so, where do I sign up?! Jokes aside, X70 is great value, and if I didn’t need to wait a year for it in Thailand I’d consider buying one. Thankfully I only have to wait a few more weeks for my XC40 to arrive from Shah Alam
