Congratulations! You just stumbled upon a gem group in K-pop. Anyway, you're absolutely right! REALLY BAD BOY music video was actually inspired by "The Shining (1980)" movie! PSYCHO was said to be inspired by "Black Swan" and PEEKABOO kinda has some sort of influence from novels like “The Beguiled” and “Picnic at Hanging Rock,” or their respective film adaptations - all revolving around mysterious occurrences at girls’ boarding schools. I notice that Red Velvet music videos have always been really creative and the styles are so cinematic with subtle storylines involved (I personally prefer this way as an "auditory" learner because it's not distracting from the music itself and we can interpret it with however we want later on). Fun fact : Red Velvet is crowned by Billboard as "Best Idol Group" alive and critics always have high repute for them. Their main strength is their vocal harmonisations (which not many K-pop groups do - especially girlgroups), having a lot of adlibs and vocal stackings in their songs. Hence why music critics and producers really love them because most K-pop groups don't do their vocal layering by themselves. They are known to have really great and versatile discographies. This group is also famous as the "concept queens" and usually do not follow the trend, but they created it. - RBB was released for Halloween and the sound itself really fits including the music video direction. - PSYCHO was released during winter and sonically it is really hollow, but warm and comforting towards the end (12:51) - PEEKABOO was also released during winter as a horror concept, and look at how they execute the eerie vibe with the melodies and music video direction (15:32) Their latest hit - *FEEL MY RHYTHM* was released last month during the start of Spring. They created new trend where they did a fusion of Kpop + sampling Classical music. You should react to it!

Red Velvet also released a new Japanese album with Wildside the MV. They have heaps of great songs and a lot of the best ones being B sides

YAY!!! Welcome to Red Velvet fandom! :D You are right from the get go with RBB (except that it's a sax btw haha) but yes. We've got Seulgi in the platinum hair in RBB - she's singing the moving line in the chorus, very exciting. The breathy light voice in the bridge with the dark hair who is absolutely stunning and that gets her hand bit by the werewolf is Joy. (P.S. to add - yes, crawling on the table in Peek-a-Boo Joy yes) In the green top with the pigtails that you noticed her voice is the platinum blonde in Psycho - that's Wendy - the main vocal. The opening line of Psycho is Seulgi again. She's the lead vocal. And everyone has solid vocals. Yeri (you asked if she was the rapper in RBB) is the youngest and she is primarily a "rapper" - basically the kind of cutesy talk rapping and accents mostly are hers. Irene is the one with the feathers in the hair in Psycho and has the checkered pants in RBB - she's stunning, "original visual", lead dancer, leader of the group - also handles a lot of rap lines. They do deliver a clean and charismatic choreo even though they're not doing something hard hitting, exactly. Seulgi again in the boots - I'm thinking I see the beginning of a Seulgi bias because you have been noticing her quite a bit. I also like RBB more than Psycho, but Psycho is so iconic for that era of Red Velvet, too. :) And yes - Yeri with the crossbow in Pyscho haha :D Something interesting is that you mentioned Girl Crush and I am not sure I've ever heard anyone say that about these particular Red Velvet songs - although their new one, Wildside! But Red = bright, poppy, upbeat, Velvet = more R&B inspired, soulful, velvety smooth and mature concept. All typically have quirky twists and sometimes even dark concepts even for more Red songs in MVs. More split songs earlier on, more blended songs later on - but most songs will lean kind of one way or the other - these songs are all more Velvet concept than Red :D

Hey sav, first of all, thanks for mentioning mayday 😁 Next, I thought at least you will recognize Wendy, bc she's DJ of young street and Sua has become a regular there for quite some time 🤭 Red velvet is one of unique gg out there, they always have 2 side, red is their bright side, and velvet is their dark side. The first time I listen to RBB, it's overwhelmed me, like there's so much thing happening for my tiny brain. Psycho, I don't like it the first time, but it grew on me (that highnote 🤯). Peek a boo, I love it, this is the song that introduced me to Red velvet. Btw sav, will you do another Red Velvet reaction? I recommend Russian Roulette, Red Flavor, Power Up, and Feel My Rhythm. It's more to the bright side of Red velvet, and Feel My Rhythm is my no 1 Red Velvet song so far. Big thanks 😊

Even when Red Velvet is doing a cute concept, there's usually a bit of a sinister undertone (if not flat out homicidal). 😄 Have you dove into any male groups yet? If not, I'd recommend Red Velvet's SM labelmates EXO and NCT... especially if you're into choreo and vocals. EXO - Tempo NCT U - Make A Wish (Birthday Song) Also, Aespa is another SM girl group that are still rookies but have quickly become one of the most popular in Korea. With them, I'd start with their debut called 'Black Mamba'. ***NCT is actually a very large group (23 members) that typically operates in four sub units - 3 fixed member units (NCT 127, NCT Dream & WayV) and 1 non-fixed member unit (NCT U) where any number/combination of the any of the members can be on a track, just depending on who fits the concept best. The NCT U song I chose has some members from each of the fixed units. With NCT (particularly U), it's hard to nail down just one or two songs that demonstrate their general sound since no two title tracks are alike. Anyhoo, MAW is one of their most popular mv's, it's super catchy and has killer choreo. Hopefully you give them all a chance!

All the MVs you reacted here are the velvet side, Red Velvet has 2 split concepts, Red and Velvet and combined. Red concept songs = Red flavor, Dumb Dumb, Russian Roulette, Queendom, Ice Cream Cake etc.. Please check these videos as well!

who is who on the screen you paused on: Irene, Joy, Seulgi, Yeri, Wendy - also if you ever wonder who the one with the godlike vocals is... it's Wendy 9/10 times 😂 I was actually a bit worried you might not like RBB and I was going to pick Bad Boy as it is a safer pick... but given that Psycho is also on the list I thought I might as well suggest something that is a bit more out there. 😂 I feel like I'll keep editing and adding info 😂 The one with the boots = Seulgi original visual = Irene Red Velved has a "red" and a "velvet" side... red is more upbeat and bright... "velvet" more mature and darker or classy.... I am quite bad at describing this but you'll get it once you listen to some more of their tracks 😉 I purposely chose a few of their darker ones as I thought that might be an easier transition from dreamcatcher to red velvet.
