Rob Short remembers his brother Don Short who was a paraplegic injured in the military service. Rob had a passion for classic tractors and one of his favorites was is beautifully restored 1967 Farmall 1206 Turbo Charged Diesel. The 1206 was International Harvester’s first turbo charged diesel tractor and was their first tractor to have over 100 horsepower. 8,400 were built from 1965 to 1967 with an original price tag of $9,450 US dollars or about $72,543 US dollars today. It is powered by an International Harvester 6-cylinder, 361 cubic-inch turbo charged diesel engine that could do 95 horsepower on the drawbar and 112 horsepower on the PTO.

I as at my local dealer when she was presented. Free hot dogs and pop that day and that tractor presentation left me with good memories.

My Dad bought a 1206 in 1970. At the time, it was an awesome machine. Pulled 6 16s all day long without any stress at all. There are still a few in use around. I wish he hadn't sold it. : )

I plowed many an acre with a 1206 pulling a 7-16 bottom plow. That's 112 inches wide or 9' 4''. I loved it and I think I was 10 years old.

Beautiful International tractors you guys have. 1206 was the big brother in the 06 line. My dad had a 706 and a 606. His dad had a Super M. Nice to see your son so interested in tractors. I was too when I was a kid. Still am today.

My Grandpa is 82 years old and can't hear from from our one tractor that he started farming with, a 1971 IH 966. And I'll tell you something 40 years hadn't been to bad to that tractor.

I'd rather see them being used. I know people enjoy obsessing over making them perfect and then hiding them in a garage, but aside from the really old one's they still have work to do. A 1206 is still a very useful machine on thousands of farms. Restore them, fix them up nice, but use the darn things

The 660 was the first Turbo tractor at 80-90 horse in 1960, it was a wheat land tractor

The 660 ih never came with a turbo. If you've seen one, it's been added by someone sometime in its past. The first turbocharged ag tractor was the D19 Allis in 1961. Allis had been building turbochargers for the military since WWII.

Neighbor sold his with a fresh engine years ago. Gauss Equipment sold out to Evolution Ag. Like stepping back in time. I am pretty sure the l knew the man who restored it. Mike has passed on sadly too. He knew IH like the back of his hand.
